>>18532381I would search for Amouage fragrances that are highly rated for summer. Amouage is all extremely high quality and uses a base middle eastern DNA of resins, incense, and spices in most of their perfumes, but they are built in the middle east for that blisteringly hot climate. The resins and incense are meant to bloom in the heat rather than go sour or become cloying. I don’t have any suggestions on where you’d want to start specifically with sampling, though. I personally am looking to get a sample of Beach Hut Man, I don’t think that will be much of what you’re looking for.
>>18532381>>18532422Oh, here. I found my list of summer Amouage I want to try. >Reflection Man>Beach Hut Man>Sunshine Man>Portrayal Man>Enclave>Meander>Search>Boundless
>>18532422>>18532428Thanks, I might sample some of those but Amouage is really expensive even compared to Tom Ford so idk if I'll buy a full bottle even if I do find something I like
>>18532407edp
Why is Guerlain Vetiver so expensive now wtfIn 2021 I remember seeing it for 40 EUR. Then suddenly by 2023 it was 60 and now it's 90Why didn't I get any in 2021 fuck fuck fuck
>>18532442inflation + new positioning (going upmarket) by LVMH
>>18532442>>18532443btw for 90 it's still worth it but for 40 is was practically a steal
>>18532434Well, I just put on Body Kouros just now and its a light and airy resin/spicy that I think would also do alright in the summer. I am loving it for the cooler weather but I don’t find it thick and heavy at all. Can be hard to find sometimes but if you’re in Canada, Parfumerie Mania has 100ml bottles in stock for I think $199 but you can occasionally find it cheaper second hand. Doesnt come up often though.
>>18532434I think Tom Ford is hardly the superior option, especially considering that despite being priced like niche fragrances, they are mostly made up of very inexpensive aromachemicals. Tobacco vanille alone is made up of 40% iso e super and 34% of dipropylene glycol, an odorless solvent frequently used to round out formulas that have too few aromachemicals to arrive at 100%. Tom fords price per Kg hovers around 100$. If you would like something relatively fresh and long lasting that still has that oriental aspect, look at Bisch’s work for amouage. Mostly reisins and cool spices around a musk skeleton with some fresh aquatic and ozonic notes. Purpose might be something you’d enjoy, although it also falls into the same camp as most Tom fords, being 36% iso e super.
>>18532443>>18532445Yeah fuck I should probably just buy some already instead of waiting for it to become more expensive Is there much difference whether I get the EDT or EDP or Perfume?

>>18532476pdm, any lv summer frags.
Continuing my search for THE vetiver fragrance, my sample of French Lover has arrived and I don't think it's anything special. It smells quite like I imagine Encre Noire a l'Extreme to smell. It's more wearable than Sultan Vetiver, but prickly as that one is it seems more worthy of its price, it's less dense in the sense that it doesn't have as many ingredients and facets, but the ingredients feel higher quality, so the whole frag feels more finely detailed in its simplicity.Next I'm looking at sampling:>Vetiver ExtraordinaireEven though I don't think it's going to wow me enough to convince me to spend €275 on 100ml of juice.>(Guerlain) VetiverBecause it's been years since the last time I smelled it and my impression might change, though it distinctly evoked the feeling of an old person's house, so I don't have high hopes for it either.>TdH Eau Intense VetiverSince I greatly enjoy TdH, though I'm not very confident that a flanker of a designer frag, good as it might be, will feel good and refined enough to wow me.>Vetiver MolokoBased on reviews according to which it's high quality and detailed while remaining soft and creamy, but at this point I'm starting to fear I'll have to spend an unreasonable amount of money on Sycomore if I want something that really speaks to me.On a related note, I have a few questions about recommendations I received here:I've gathered from reading reviews that Vetiver Bourbon by PdE is a (fairly) realistic representation of vetiver, so how does it compare to Sultan Vetiver (which is already barely wearable to me because of how strongly green and earthy and grassy it is)?Is it worth trying EN a l'Extreme, or is it the vetiver the same type/quality/feel as EN?How creamy and sweet are Hermessence Vetiver Tonka and Vetiver Gris compared to French Lover, Sultan Vetiver and/or Fat Electrician?
Is the OG Armani Code still worth seeking out? It looks like the 2022+ formulations are completely different to the 2004.Failing that, are there any good dupes of the original formula?
What is the undeniably best of the blue ambroxan frags (BdC, Y, Sauvage, Dylan Blue, Profondo...) in terms of scent profile but also performance and general quality? Is the next trend after this really florals like MYSLF and Paradigme, are blue fragrances outdated at this point?
>>18532610Profundo EdP 2024 projects quite a lot off me and smells goodI put 3 sprays on my chest from a small sample spritzer and my boss noticed it on me an hour later from 10ft away
Considering getting a 30ml of this. It's a fall/winter frag I'm assuming. I tried Devotion in hopes of satiating my coffee fix but was let down, maybe going niche is the way.
>>18532592Can't answer your question precisely anon but Vetiver Tonka is the fragrance that made me fall in love with the art. I smelled it on a man and it made me feral, i think it's beautiful on a woman too (i wear it) but i'll never forget smelling it. I almost never react to people's perfumes like that. I hope you can smell it soon enough!
>>18532592>French Loverone of the best frags i've ever smelled, it's too bad that you don't like it that much>It smells quite like I imagine Encre Noire a l'Extreme to smell.i'm not sure if it's possible to be further off the mark desuthey are both smoky but while French Lover's smoke is light and airy a l'Extreme is quite dense and resinous>Vetiver Extraordinaireno, good but far too expensive>(Guerlain) Vetiveryes by all means>Vetiver Bourbonvery realistic, probably not for you>Vetiver Gris(hazel)nutty but imo not as creamy as Fat Electrician>>18532610for me it's Sauvage (EDT + Elixir) but ymmv
can anyone give me a QRD of the l'omme ideal line
>>18532610I only love Dylan Blue out of the blues, so my vote goes to that. I don't think it's outdated - they're all general clean scents that smell good, both blue fragrances and Myself.Tangentially, Paradigme kinda fucks, why are people so critical?
>>18532728>why are people so criticalAre they? They're just saying it's generic, which is true, isn't it? Also bad longevity, so there's basically no reason to buy it over dozens of other clean, inoffensive masculine fragrances

Do brown people in this general hate Louis Vuitton and Chanel because they can't buy their frags at discounters?

>>18532837channel goodlv shitsimple as
>>18532837have you ever seen the skin colour of the average user of the new LV fragrance collection?
frag newfag here, now that it’s getting toward cold weather season i’m on the hunt for a good boozy/tobacco/vanilla scent. heard great things about kilian angels’ share so i tested it at sephora and bought a travel size but i also tried tftobacco vanille and holy fuck that has staying power. i’d buy it now but last month i tried guerlain tobacco honey and that is unironically the best thing i’ve ever smelled so if i get a special-event tobacco it’ll probably be that one. angels’ share smells like a boozy cinammon apple pie so i’ll test drive it over the next few weeks and save the rest for the holiday season
>>18532837LV has the same problem as Tom Ford, they're decent enough but should be priced the same as Dior/Chanel/YSL mainline.
>>18532843you can also refill LV at their boutiques for a pretty good discount so that’s something to consider. that said it’s getting boosted by kids with dollars and no sense who want to be seen with it, just like with BR540. they’re nice ass bowles though
>>18532849You should also have a sniff of CH Mystery Tobacco. Really nice, cosy smelling winter fragrance.
>>18532849have you tried hugo boss absolu? not exactly those notes but it's a great winter frag, just don't use more than 2 sprays. people here don't talk about it because it's hyped up by youtubers, but I bought it before that and it's honestly pretty good
>>18532852 that’s on my list, along with dior tobacolor and byredo tobacco mandarin. i wanted to like jazz club but the few replicas i’ve tried have shit performance, they’re barely a skin scent an hour in. maybe if they made edp versions.
Is there actually any vetiver fragrance that doesn't smell like a 90 yr old dementia grandpa?
>>18532849cool. You are taking the correct steps by sampling shit, are you looking for more recommendations or hoping people will compliment you for not being retarded and doing the minimum of research required to make a good purchase
>>18532851>a pretty good discount350 instead of 450 for 100ml of any of their frags is still massively overpriced

>>18532865looking for ideas, i’m too poor and just smart enough not to blind buy
>>18532850Ombré Leather or CHANEL BLEU DE CHANEL L’EXCLUSIF
>>18532871Are you looking for a "special occasion" fragrance? or something for regular wear. If you live in eu, you can probably get tobacolor for a really good price considering the quality of the juice, and given how big the bottle would be it should be perfectly fine for regular wear, as for the guerlain make that your "strive" fragrance, reward yourself with it after you achive something.
Does Al-Rehab have a roll on that is 'your skin but better'?
>>18532849Try Chergui if you want that sharp tobacco in TV at a better price. Its not as sweet and theres no vanilla but it has good longevity and dries into a creamy, sort of musky tobacco. I mainline TV as my cold weather daily but Chergui is also a fantastic tobacco fragrance.
>>18532863Vetiver Oriental by uncle serge but it has a chocolate patchouli note which is a bit of a weird combo. Have you tried Sycomore? TdH?
Post good bottles>Shakira Diamond Dance
Is Tobacco Vanille worth it? I like gourmands but the classy ones that smell expensive, not the obnoxious ones like Le Male Elixir or the SWY line
>>18532932I love it but I don’t think its worth retail. If you can find it second hand at a good price its worth it. I think I paid about $180 for my 50ml
>>18532934I don't really trust second hand sellersAre there other frags I should look into for the kind of scent profile I'm looking for?
>>18532610>undeniablySauvage EDT, though as far as blue frags go I like AdG Profondo more than anything else.>are blue frags outdatedYes, in the worst possible spot between current and vintage.>>18532657Thanks for the input, though that's the least I expect from a fragrance if I'm to pay such a steep asking price.>>18532694Thanks for the input. So, leaving the added woods and sprices and resins aside, is the vetiver in EN a l'Extreme give or take the same as that in EN (mostly vetiveryl acetate as far as I understand it), or is it higher quality, more three-dimensional, multi-faceted or however you want to put it?Vetiver Gris does sound appealing, Fat Electrician is nicely soft and comfy, so if this one tends a bit less towards creamy and a bit more towards vetiver it might fit.I'll buy a discovery set and see...
>>18532948>Yes, in the worst possible spot between current and vintage.I don't think anyone in the real world who isn't an autist about fragrances considers blue fragrances dated.

>>18532949For most of 2022 I've lived in Dublin, which is certainly not Berlin or NYC or Paris or Milan, but it's still a European capital with people coming from all over the world to work and vacation.I was trying out sunglasses in the big department store on Mary Street, I forget how it's called, and I was surprised to hear this guy saying to (most likely) his girlfriend, who was picking up bottles from the Dior display isle to try out: "just leave it, everybody wears that now".I don't know whether either of them were frag enthusiasts, but they certainly found Sauvage dated 3 years ago already.>>18532952Right, thanks.
>>18532956>everybody wears that nowimo the literal opposite of 'dated' (which means that eveybody was wearing it but not anymore)
>>18532592>french loverisnt this just creeds royal oud?
>>18532863Guerlain Vetiver is the only frag that evokes that image in my head, I don't think it's the vetiver.>>18532961You make a fair point, a better way to put it might be that if even a normal guy at a big department store found Savage that common it was already overdone 3 years ago, so it might be common the same way millennials with skinny jeans are.

Honest thoughts on Versace Eros? All the reviews just refer to it being bro juice
Presently the industry is in a relative drought, this is partly because the clientele is less demanding and because there aren’t as many innovative forces at work anymore. In my eyes, of all mainstream perfumers the only one with a clearly identifiable “pattern” is Bisch, who has made very good use of his givaudan captives, chiefly patchouli distillates which he uses to impart herbal peppery notes to his amouage creations; 2% purpose, around 1% in guidance. Every decade has one groundbreaking fragrance that dictates the trend, but thus far nothing of the sort has appeared.

I got a bottle of Lancome Miracle Homme. I was expecting it to be similar to Armani Mania PH since they are both by Kurkdijon and only a year apart, but they are quite different. Miracle starts with what I thought was mandarin because of the similarities to RL's Romance for Men which also has oakmoss but that must be the maple leaf. I don't get the listed coffee note at all. It's a bit sweet because of the maple leaf and that stays for quite a bit. The only similarity to Armani Mania is the cedar but it's barely there when it's the main note in Mania. It does project quite a bit more than Mania and likely last just as long which is what I call a business day (7-8 hours) but the projection ends in the first hour or so. Mania is more casual, daily, office friendly. Miracle is more pretentious, meet friends for brunch, outdoor date. I'm not the biggest fan of Miracle right now, the sharp red pepper and the sweetness of the maple give it a cheap shower gel smell. I'll keep trying it, maybe the oakmoss will bring me around and the other woody notes will become more pronounced.

on faceberg marketplace, I see people selling new unopened niche fragrances for like, 100 dollars a bottle.are these retards that overbought expensive luxury goods and now need money, or are they boosted? or what? I'm talking about real pricey stuff like Creed and Initio
>>18533149could be anything. i impulse buy shit and then have to sell it off at a discount, so it could be people like me getting rid of legit fragrances. others may be selling off legit but stolen goods and then there are those who peddle counterfeits.
>>18533149Those are definitely fake. You should only buy fragrances from private groups, and open box is preferable because you can get photos of the bottle and under the atomizer to compare to legitimate bottles.
>>18533149If it's a big name like Creed it is definitely 100% fake.
Egoiste travel spray came today. Really happy I opted for 10ml rather than 5 or 3. This is so different than the other chanels I’ve tried (BDC, platinum egoiste, AHS, No5). It doesn’t have that classic chanel sparkle at all, being much rather a smooth and creamy sandalwood fragrance supported by cinnamon, rose, and vanilla. It shows it’s age ever so slightly with the mild carnation note, which is easily forgiven in such a pleasing blend. Definitely a great pick if you like warm, spicy ambery scents. Looking forward to wearing this all season and can definitely see a potential full bottle. Performance is good too, still going strong 6 hours in.

Only fougeres I have are beau de jour, zino, and sartorial (unless pasha and platinum egoiste are also fougeres)

It's one of the lightest freshest most versatile summer frags you can have, and it smell distinct enough to not be too redundant. Another dark(er) one would be Dior Homme Original which was originally an EdT and it's woody and smooth but also creamy and dark. It was a massive hit for a reason. I can also recommend Mugler Fantasm which has deep patchouli and chocolate in the base, but it has got so much freshness up top that it somehow still works in the summer (note: the sprayer is dogshit just like everyone says.) I like both Fantasm and Stellar, but stellar is heavier for fall/winter. Another really good one is Mustache EdP which is a light spiced smooth caramel. I'm told it's like Tuxedo, but it's doing its own thing. In the same style, and this may be exactly what you want, Pasha Parfum by Cartier is a deeper amber-rum version of the Pasha line which is a summer fougere; I think that's exactly the vibe you're looking for. The notes online don't give you any understanding as to what it will smell like, but the rating is well deserved.

Redpill on Nishane? It seems like it wants to be influencer slop but there are some profiles like Wulong Cha that seem like they might actually be interesting.
What's the best l'homme ideal frag? I really like the EDT, the EDP was a bit too sweet and I think I'll like the intense and extreme more, I'll probably try them soon
>>18533485Roach slop.
>>18533499Extreme is sweet and plummy. I like it but I can see that others might think it too sweet. Give it a try anyway.
>>18533485overpriced meh at best, slop at worst
>>18533482Whoever made this has no idea about perfumes or basic chemistry. I would only wear Indian attars or perfumes if a western company does the QC to ensure they didn't put mercury in it or something.
I tried Prada Paradigme today and it's nice but not 170 euros nice. MYSLF isn't priced much better either. If this is the new trend (extremely overpriced florals) then I'm not impressedWhat else should I try?At this point I'm honestly considering visiting an LV store considering how mediocre all designer releases I've tried are. How hard can it be to make something modern, attractive and versatile that doesn't have EDC-tier performance? Man
>>18533515>At this point I'm honestly considering visiting an LV store considering how mediocre all designer releases I've tried arelol, that's not very wise of youthe LV frags are peak mediocrity priced at 400 bucks a bottle
>>18533485some smell really good, but way too expensive
>>18533516Yeah a friend of mine keeps telling me Imagination is top tier and that I should check it out but I'm anticipating that I'll be disappointed.idk man I actually don't mind the masculine floral trend that much, the clean neroli stuff in MYSLF is actually pretty good but it doesn't blow me away and the performance really sucks for that price point. I feel like I've tried every designer brand and haven't found anything worth wearing.
>>18533515Prada Paradigme is just their take on H24. You can get H24 very easily and for much cheaper than paradigme
>>18533521They don't smell alike at all
>>18533521H24 is much worse
>>18533521H24 is way better
Brut.
>>18532476>Among social media- LV Imagination- JPG Le male elixir- PDM Althair>Among contrarian frag soys- any 80s and earlier Fougeres and Chypres, especially drug store slop
>>18533056Energy is good, Flame is good. Contrarian fragrantica commenter redditors from India like >>18533435 will hate on it because it's the newest one, but when it's been discontinued for years these fags will talk about how it was so underrated and better than the Eros flankers that come after it
>>18533527Yes they do
>>18533555whiter than you + extremely undeserved digits + wrong + energy is shit
>>18533593you will never be white + go back to redit + you say that now, not after it's been gone for years
>>18533596again, whiter than you with past proof in the thread + you are the redditor + energy is shit now and forever because that's what it is, discontinuation doesn't change how good a frag is + you won't post skin because you are brown
>>18533601you use the internet recreationally more than 1-3 hours a week maximum lmaoooooooooo
Please give me some nice, attractive modern frags to try out at the department store that don't have the longevity of a wet fart
>>18533629Myslf edp. People will say it dies down but they're probably going noseblind. I had someone pick it up after 12 hours.
>>18533122that’s a good rec. do you or anyone else know much about their 40 knots? my summer scent is sea nautical so that sounds promising but i haven’t smelled it yet
>>18533122>>18533654lol jerkoff
>>18533602I accept your concession jeet
is $75 for a 50ml the cheapest im gonna see for hermann on discounters? ive wanted it for awhile but it seems like every discounter that runs out never restocks
Just coped today, I think I'm in love.
>>18533652Is it hyper popular like sauvage or not npc-tier yet?
>>18533629Sel D'Issey
>>18533721So you wanted an “attractive modern designer” with le beast mode longevity but also want to be a special snowflake about it?
>>18533629I’m wearing my sample of myslf edp today and its so fucking boring. It smells good yeah but mega yawn. BDC EDP is better, at least it has the aldehydes and a bit more going on. You should also try some of the ADG flankers. I like the EDP and it lasts a long time. I’ve heard the Parfum is also one of the few parfums that are still good for hot weather.
>>18533734Alright I get your point>>18533731I don't like marine fragrances>>18533744I get that from prada l'homme, it's a very nice scent but has zero personality>BDC EDPI use to own it, and the parfum, and although they're definitely good fragrances I found them very generic too.>ADGI don't usually like aquatics but I smelled the cap of the parfum not long ago and though it was decent so it might be good
>random hags on tiktok talk about more interesting perfumes than all youtube and do a better job at it
>>18533744ADG EDP smells like straight up weed to me
>>18533680do you accept your internet addiction, you non-white perpetual bullying victim
Another overcast warm day, time for L'Eau Bleue.
Can't stand 'blue' ambroxan frags personally.
