Which strap with a blue dial watch?

Top left to dress it up, top right for a more casual look with a dark blue dial, top middle if the watch face is a lighter blue or teal (would fit great for the Scuba Dude).

Today I learned that a pendulum clock and a mechanical wristwatch operate the same way, only the clock uses a weight on a string instead of a main spring for power and a pendulum instead of the hairspring for beats
>>
>>18545159
Because Casio never sold that model in Europe.
Either import it yourself (via Amazon US or Ebay) or buy it here:
https://www.duromarlin.de/product/casio-duro-marlin-taucheruhr-200m-mdv106b-2av/
>>
>>18545161
And a Quartz watch operates in a similar way, only it uses an electromagnet for power and a vibrating crystal for beats.

I've been looking on some vintage watches on Chrono24...

How shitty they usually are? There are some great looking pieces 200-500 euros, some even claim to be serviced. Any experiences with +40 yo old automatic watches?
>>
>>18545745
Don't buy anything with complications.
Water resistance either was never there or is now gone, so you'll have to take them off to wash your hands, be careful when it rains, etc.
A service can be impossible (watch was designed to be disposable from the start, parts don't exist anymore...) or exceed the purchasing price.
And you have no warranty, so if your $300 watch stops tomorrow, you're out $300.
>>
>>18545745
It's harder to spot fakes of vintage watches without opening them, cause some minor errors were normal before precision machining.
>>
Why not just buy a clone?
>>
>>18545853

1. With most people you meet and want to impress there's enough context to gauge if you can actually afford the original. So even if the clone looks perfect, they'll know. Or suspect it. What do you answer when someone asks you in front of other people which AD you can recommend? How do you explain to a girl that wants you to take her home why you're driving a 2006 Nissan Versa?
2. You'll know. And you'll see the small differences to the original. Your watch will always be lacking. It reminds you that you want the original but can't afford it.
3. There are thousands of great and interesting watches, even with historical relevance in the sub-500 price range. Why get a copy that has nothing special except for a resemblance to a generic status symbol?
If none of that bothers you, by all means buy a clone.
>>
>>18545945
>How do you explain to a girl that wants you to take her home why you're driving a 2006 Nissan Versa?
I spent it all on the watch, love.
>>
>>18545945
>Which AD you can recommend
I can't imagine being around people that would participate in the fiasco known as ADs.
I guess I'm lucky to live where I have all the boutiques, but even some boutiques play games. What you're saying is largely correct but I can't imagine wanting a watch so badly that you'd be willing to play games (such as previous purchase or dressing a certain way) to get it. Same goes for certain luxury brands and car brands. If you look down at your fake watch and feel bad that it's not the real thing, then you're probably enough of a human being to look at it and feel bad you had to undergo a humiliation ritual to get it. I can walk into Cartier and buy a purse for my wife, no games. I can walk into almost all watch boutiques and buy any watch, unless it's an ugly as sin genta watch (lol). If I see a paywalled Rolex or genta watch on someone's wrist, I automatically assume it's either fake, or they're retarded. They're not retarded for spending a lot of money on a watch, there are many amazing watches worth exorbitant prices, but they're retarded for getting scammed. What it really comes down to is this: if your watch is Rolex or Genta (aka a watch marketed at sports events), it might as well be fake, because it's an embarrassment regardless.

It's like trying to bluff in poker when you only have enough chips for 2 big blinds.

>>
>>18546729
Top left and bottom right are a complete collection. You picked the least interesting Zeppeling and the Orient is useless, sorry. Too busy for a dress watch, and yellow gold should just be avoided at that price point.
>>
>>18546729
To be honest top right is the only one I like, but I think it looks wrong on a leather strap. Would look much better on a fabric strap in my opinion.
>>
>>18546919
Would also fit the Zeppelin name (their hull was linen and cotton).
>>
>>18546904
I disagree, yellow gold is ok on shitters. You just want to avoid it on mid-priced watches, it's turbo ick to have a $1000 gold plated/gold filled watch, but it's fine to have a $300 gold plated watch and it's fine to have a solid gold watch at any price.

I think it would look really nice on a perlon or sailcloth strap, would compliment it nicely since the watch already lands somewhere inbetween dress and field in terms of design. Could be dressed up or down.

Thoughts on watch in the pic? $500, Swiss movement, 10.8mm, dive bezel which is a vaguely practical feature.
They’ve also got one that’s black/black with a field dial that I kinda like, although it’s a bit busy.
Obviously cheaper/better to buy quartz in some ways, but autos are cool and the other cheapo brands all use these fatass cases. Missed out on the good old days when Ali watches used ETA clones
>>
>>18547255
Not sure to be honest, just google searched sailcloth strap and picked the first picture that showed more than one color.
>>
This is definitely a stupid question but is there a material difference between a $1500 watch and a $500,000 watch beyond branding? Both likely have the same crystal, the same case materials, and a similar movement. Help me understand the value in something like a Patek.
>>
>>18547271
Yes absolutely, just not 498,500 dollars worth of difference. To get something with Cosc or Metas certification you need to spend more than 1500. Above 5,000 or so the difference in levels of finishing will start to be very minimal. Once you start to get to insanely high luxury prices lots more work is done by hand which adds a lot to the labor costs. Hidden parts of the watch you will never see will be finished to a high degree. You also won't find anything in solid gold or platinum in a 1500 or under watch (although these materials are upcharged exponentially higher than the actual cost). I would never want to or be able to afford something like a patek but they're beautiful watches and to say that the price is just branding is completely wrong. Even if like most luxury goods its pretty overpriced for what you get.

on a $500k watch you should expect that the crystal, case, and other parts were hand made specifically for that watch. about the only components that should be mass produced are the jewels and the lubricants

Iirc the seagull 1963 is a weird one where most models you can buy aren't actually made by seagull. Seagull sell all the parts to third parties who then actually make and sell them. A seagull made 1963 is like $700.

Some brand names actually ruin the watch.
If you insist on naming your brand HrimmDuerger then at least pay someone for designing a stylized logo and put that on the watch face instead.
