>>18548414>>18548430Lush fragrances are overpriced, one-dimensional, and poor longevity due to reliance on natural compounds. Ten years ago their quality was much higher but that has fallen massively across their products, while prices have increased.Personally I would never support Lush anyway because they are unashamed and open activists for pedophilic 'queer theory' and the mutilation and sterilization of confused children. If you have to buy any of their fragrance products, just buy the body sprays, they perform just as well as the perfumes for a fraction of the price.

>>18548389poorfag here. Are clone fragrance a good option or not worth getting into? Can't post pdf but it's in the description here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPMbIg5rydM
>>18548494I've smelled fragrances I liked but then the clones I didn't, and vice versa, because not often are they actually a 1:1. I recommend sampling everything as usual
>>18548164>>18548377Alternatively Jazz Club is one of the most loved "sexy"' date fragsI wonder if anything else comes close to The One and Jazz Club in that department
>>18548494Not worth getting into, for the most partThere are plenty of great cheap original fragrances out there, and plenty of bad clones that clonefags blind buy then try to convince themselves "it smells 80% like the real thing bro"Unfortunately you can't trust most online opinions about clones and you often can't get samples either, so take everything you read about them online with a big grain of saltExpensive perfumes don't have a monopoly on good composition, so I don't see a reason to bother with clones much unless there is a particular fragrance you really love but really can't affordI watched some other video by this guy btw and he's obviously a newbie to fragrances
>>18548494SOME clones are worth, like Club de Nuit. Most of the time they're just not up to par and you can sense something is off.If a scent is out of your range, it's better to find a non-clone alternative if possible, or save up. As another person said: sample first.
>>18548487Same, I'd like to try leather malaki but from what I read online it's a flop
>>18548406You'll like them but tell me, how many bottles of MI fragrances do you own?

>>18548451>>18548452Modern 4chan discourse in a nutshell
>>18548685You don't even know what hay smells like, you probably only left your shitty goy city once or twice
>>18548494Generally no but it depends on how the original fragrance is. BR540 is one that I think is basically the same as the clones.
>>18548519Is CDNIM really worth the hype? I mean unironically? Are any other clones like this? So far all I've tried have been disappointments
>>18548689kek not that guy but I can actually picture BI being the good guy scent, I don't know why but it has that vibe
>>18548791It's one of the few instances where some of the hype is justified, BUT I wouldn't go in expecting to get your socks blown off.I'd say that for any fragrance, really.

>>18548792It's a pleasant but utterly asexual scentIt has zero sensuality
>>18548795I know what Aventus smells like so I'm mainly wondering if it's very close to the real thingOr different but good in its own way (like people say the afnan clone of absolu aventus is, but I don't trust them)
>>18548494It depends how you want your collection to look and how you use fragrance. If you are looking for something to wear every day or you want to curate a modest collection (ie 5 or less fragrances) then you should definitely just pony up for some decent designers or affordable niche. You can also get away with using travel sprays for a special occasion fragrance instead of a full bottle, which opens up more expensive fragrances at a lower budget. If you want to explore perfume more broadly you should look at buying decants and samples and picking up bottles or travel sprays of the ones you feel like you can’t live without. But yeah short answer, no don’t bother with clones.

>>18548880Yeah, hoarding decants is another thing in itself but at least they don’t take up as much space and you can sample perfumes that are actually worth having, plus you can expand your palate and develop better taste.

Got a bottle of Gucci Pour Homme Sport. I have a hard time describing the notes, not because it's complex but because they are integrated very closely. It starts off with a mild burst of the body citrus mist girls use, then when the cypress comes in it starts getting more masculine. It's a genuine flanker of Gucci by Gucci PH, which turns down the patchouli and cypress while turning up the fruitiness and freshness. It's just very chill and relaxed. The performance is pretty quiet but noticeable up close for a couple hours. It will not get you attention from across the room but the ladies will enjoy it in an embrace.

>>18549093I don't want to overhype it because I don't know how it compares to the last formulations but I really like Mugler Cologne. It starts with a strong but mild almost lime-leaf blast. Then it gets soapy before the clean musk kicks in. The thing that sets Mugler Cologne apart is that there is something so well put together masculine and elegant about it. I could wear it with a suit, no tie, in summer. I don't know if the last releases performs the same but I can get almost a full business day out of the vintage on skin and you can smell it on clothes the next day. It goes very well on clothes. My current favorite is Ungaro PH1.
Most days I don't need anything more.

>>1854912925% off MSRP
>>18549134the official one or do i go by the lowest gray market price currently?
>>18549139Gray market price differences differ too much. You can do 15-20% off the lowest.
>>18549139Definitely go by discounter price. Nobody will buy a fragrance secondhand they can get cheaper bnib from a discounter. Knock a couple bucks off if you don't have the box as well. Take photos of underneath the atomizer as well, provide batch codes, and photos of the box if you have it. What fragrance and size is it? Certain brands that are frequently out of stock at discounters can command a higher secondhand price.

I have a modest collection still with some cool stuff like albo monstera, florida beauty, spiritus sancti, etc. my boot game is pretty solid as well, got a pair of Frye boots at the thrift that fit perfect and a vintage double buckle pair as well, and some basic black combats and another less aggressive black pair.
Boucheron Pour Homme ETP smells similar to Guerlain Heritage EDT, but it performs better. The citrus opening of BPH is more synthetic, and longer lasting, in GH it's softer and powdery, but fleeting. The mid of BPH has stronger florals, and less spice. GH is very cinnamon forward, great for the cooler weather. In the dry down, I find I can only distinguish them by their performance. Both are warm with labdanum, sandalwood, and moss, but by this point, GH is a delicate skin scent, while BPH still projects. The rose in BPH stays well into the dry down, but with GH it's never more than a background note.I find myself so torn between these two fragrances. They are so similar, but both have their pros and cons.Part of me thinks the better performance of BPH should win out, but then I think that GH is the more refined and sophisticated fragrance. But they smell so similar to me as to almost render each other redundant.I have to choose one.

>>18550081The correct answer is Herod, but the consensus is correct; PdM is not worth anywhere near the price they demand. Fragflex or Jomashop have their stuff at like 45-50% retail price when available, but I would say just get a 30$ 5oz decant of like three of them. You'll pay around 100$, which is a fifth of the price of one, get three, and 5oz will last you a WHILE. Scentsplit has every PdM. I promise getting a couple of decants is a MUCH better call then buying a full bottle of PdM.
SOTD: BDK Vanille Leather. The BDK line is basically Gris Charnel hype, but VL is a really nice luxurious and fresh violet vanilla leather and patchouli. It's got a velvet finish to it, I think it leans a little feminine, but not by much. It opens fresh with orange blossom and some earthy pepper, but eventually dries down to some sweet heavy vanilla and oak. I think it works really well in the cooler weather. It'll probably be insane in the heat though.
>>18550156Considering Herod is made up of ~73% IES, Hedione HC and Galaxolide, and a not particularly inventive tobacco accord, I think it’s priced a little too high, but then again in the end it’s the customer that dictates the price.

>>18550263>>18550271It’s kind of a hard question since leather is an accord and not a note, there are several different ways to create it and they all smell quite different. By NO means is it the contemporary reference, but I compare most leathers to Iron Duke. Clean Suede (aka Tom of Finland) could probably be a reference for that style. And just as an example of what I mean, I love Fahrenheit, but everyone calls it a leather scent and it doesn’t smell leathery at all to me. Guilty Absolute is closer to a leather than Fahrenheit to me, but it’s still kind of ‘off’ or more medicinal, something. And then there’s Knize Ten which is supposed to be an OG leather but it just smells like chemical waste to me.

Is Al-Rehab Lord worth trying? I got Dakar, went through half a bottle in a week, love smelling it between sets at the gym, even if it's a dated and meh perfume.
>>18550311Not sure where the attitude is from, but the point is you can distill (or in one form or another extract the fragrant materials from) tobacco or amber, and you can purify and isolate musks or simply use a tincture of the raw stuff, but leather gets the majority of its smell from the chemicals we treat it with. So you don’t isolate the scent from the raw material, you just use the same/similar materials to re-create it. I could be wrong here because it’s not my forte, but I think muguet is the same way for a slightly different reason. No one has been able to extract a material from muguet that mimics the scent, so it’s always recreated artificially. Whether that’s with one note (chemical) or multiples, however, I’m not sure.

Just had the opportunity to smell Club de Nuit Urban Elixir. It smells like sauvage EDT, except without the stingy smell of bug spray. Still synthetic, just a lot better. Can't say anything about how it will smell from further away, because the "stinginess" had room to dissipate. That's also when I got most compliments on it. Given how cheap it is compared to Sauvage and looking at the performance, I just might buy it. I have no idea about other sauvages (parfum, EDP, Elixir) - any recommendations? Also since I was looking at CDN, the limited edition of Intense Man also seems to smell nice, and great performance. Any experiences?

>>18550337Yes, though Al Rehab oils are preferred.Lord is a great '80s powerhouse style frag, it reminds me of the drydown of Kouros plus honey and yellow flowers.
>>18550377>no idea about other sauvage editionsEDT > Elixir >>> EDP > Parfum if you ask me.Try them out, they're available at any frag retailer.>>18550339You're right, lily of the valley does not yield an essential oil, though here are heaps of chemicals that by themselves smell similar or very similar to its flower.Much like other natural smells a single molecule can be used to render the general feeling, e.g. limonene for lemon and menthol for mint, though most perfumers will enrich one or other lily of the valley (or lemon, or mint) molecule with other aromachemicals to embellish it, whether it means making it more realistic or larger than life or longer lasting.>>18550068Sure, it's a good frag.

>>18550492Tell me you dont own any niche fragrences without telling me you dont own any niche fragrences
owning niche fragrances is the mark of the incel
>>18550397There are likely cheaper, more readily available fragrances, but Pineward is *the* go-to for realistic woody frags.
>>18550492>Versace>The Dreamer, existing
>>18550339So it's not if it can smell differently that defines an accord but whether or not you can distill the material. By that logic citrus can't be an accord because you can get it from the "raw material", same for woods, fruits, green, earth, floral, and animalic notes. Consequently milk can't be a note, neither can caramel, ozone, oceanic, or metallic. No attitude, just exploring the logic you used to justify contradicting the modern history of perfumery by claiming leather is not a note.
>>18550302Have you tried Jaipur Homme
>>18550568I wore that at 16 it’s definitely a kids frag
>>18550397Memoirs Of A Trespasser by Imaginary Authors smells like a dusty woodshop.
There's something I hate about Kenneth Cole Black. I don't know if it's mint or the lotus accord. Smells nauseatingly acidic. The drydown is nice tho
looking for an old school barbershop fougere, heard recs for TF Beau de Jour and MMR At The Barber’s both both were discontinued. DS & Durga Burning Barbershop sounds like a meme; I don’t want smoky in my barbershop. Thoughts?
>>18550690Some fougere/barbershop fragrances I own and like. Starting from expensive to cheap:>MFK masculin Pluriel>MDCI Invasion Barbare>Nishane B-612>Rogue Bon Monsieur>Davidoff Zino>Drakkar Noir
>>18550332It went through a period in the 2010s when it wasn't very good, but the current formulation (2022 I believe) is excellent, I am pleased to say.>>18550690BdJ is not at all an 'old school barbershop fougere', it's a very modern take on the genre, and in my opinion lacks some of the essential characteristics of a fougere.Look for stuff like Cerruti 1881, Boucheron Pour Homme, Guerlain Heritage, Dior Eau Sauvage, these are all very affordable.
>>18550659I used to wear this decades ago. All I remember is the citrus blast followed by a bid of woodiness. I'm curious what would make it acidic, maybe it was reformulated.
Today I'm wearing Fleur de Liane and it's becoming one of my favorites. It wont project too much but you will definitely smell it through the day. The moss and woody notes are a nice combo and last longer than I initially thought they would.
>>18550349>It took you that long to come up with that replyUnlike you I don't spend my whole day on /frag/ KEK
>>18550439>you have a solid occasion for itWhat, it's situational? I thought it was a pretty versatile fall/winter scent when I tried itSauvage elixir smells pretty different from the other flankers
Aventus is Aventus /b/ros. A young guy passed me today wearing Creed Aventus and my bussy got wet immediately.
