Out of my last 20 samples, I most enjoyed the new Terre. I don’t think the coffee is overdone whatsoever I actually think it blends nicely. Just bought like 30 more samples which are on the way. Has anybody smelled anything from Nissaba, Hima Jomo, Olympic Orchids?

Le Beau was alright too, Paradise Garden was too aquatic and fig-centricHaven't tried other staple designer gourmands, which ones should I check out?
Considering the popularity of “edible smelling” fragrances, especially in this chat room, I believed it interesting to look at the most popular gourmands and the key aroma chemicals that define the gourmand family. The first true gourmand, Angel, exists because of Ethyl maltol. Olivier Cresp balanced it with patchouli. Vanillin, ethyl vanillin, and Ultravanil form the backbone of this style, while coumarin adds a tonka note, seen in the pie accords of Oajan, Ambre Narguilé, and Angel’s Share.Heliotropin or Piperonal (now banned) brings distinct almond powder (together with benzaldehyde which also contributes to cherry accords) facets as in Hypnotic Poison. Maltol, furaneol, and caramel lactone create caramelized sugar notes found in Prada Candy and Pink Sugar. Meanwhile, Lactones such as gamma undecalactone, gamma nonalactone (famously used in Virgin island water) and delta-decalactone all get utilized with different butyrates to create creaminess and texture certain fruit accords. Certain Pyrazines like acetyl pyrazine and cyclotene add nutty notes. The most famous nutty aromachemical is filbertone: both incredibly powerful and very reminiscent of hazelnut it is employed whenever one seeks to recreate the aroma of a very famous chocolate hazelnut spread. Another famous aromachemical is phenylacetic acid. Used to create the aroma of honey, together with azarbre, coumarin and certain floral modifiers, It is also used to make crystal meth. I am presently working on a fragrance that could be defined as “gourmand”, so if you have any questions regarding this particular family of fragrances ask now while I am in midst of this particular project.
>>18559571Gourmands are definitely non white coded, that I know for sure

It's more like 60-90 minutes>Once the oily smell has dried off it is a very pleasant and sweet fragrance. Very similar to MT>RT is more than 1/2 the price of MTIn all likelihood I'm probably going to spend £235 on a bottle of Mystery Tobacco, just for the fact that I could smell the petrochemical type opening of Red Tobacco for a lot longer, and it's offputting.

>I hate indians so much I'll stink up the entire thread by talking about them non-stop
>>18560529Heritage EDTL'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme EDT
Thoughts on Lubin perfumes? Specifically korigan, Idole, Idole eau de parfum, and akkad? Are they worth checking out, they have good ratings on fragnatica.
>>18560546masstige trash
>>18560548Would you say the price does not match its quality or its too close to existing designer frags to be considered "niche"?
>>18560551They smell like average shower gel frags while charging an arm and a leg.
>>18560529Just be aware that Guerlain doesn't do 'heavy' frags they are all classy and understated, so if you're looking for anything 'beast mode' you're going to be disappointed. However, all of their frags do indeed smell fantastic and well crafted. For the cooler seasons you can't go wrong with Heritage.
What's the best designer fragrance with mass appeal to women?
>>18560589Versace Eros (unironically)
>>18560588I guess what I mean by "heavy" isn't really "beast mode projection" or anything like that just a scent that can get cloying or a bit too much in warm/hot weather
>>18560589any dior sauvage
>>18560589Good genetics and being dangerous
YSL Y EDP.
>>18560505I only break it out during autumn and winter. And sparingly between uses. I live for the ginger note
>>18560589Literally anything from Jean Paul Gaultier if you're under the age of 25. Le Male Le Parfum works on adults as well.
>>18560602>Le Male Le Parfum works on adultskek
>>18560551Get your hands on some Areej dawg
>>18560593NTA but I will give you my thoughts on a Guerlain for winter>Habit Rouge lineI thought the Parfum was too vanillic/patchouli and cloying. It genuinely smelled feminine to me. The Habit Rouge Prive was good, but it would work best in fall. It is a suedey chypre like fragrance with only a bit of sweetness. The EDT is probably not what you’re working for as it is more all-seasons, but you should sample it to get a baseline.>L’Homme Ideal lineI think the recent Parfum is the best of this line and would work well in winter. The Extreme is the most similar but a little too sweet. Avoid the EDT and EDP in my opinion. Intense is also fine.>L’Instant lineNot my favorite personally, but a lot of people like LIDGE>OthersHeritage EDP is very good for cold weather, Derby is too hard to find now, Lui is too hard to findGuerlain as a brand is kind of better suited for vintage fragrance people. Their modern fragrances really aren’t that special in my opinion — but if you insistent you’re gonna get a cold weather Guerlain you should sample Heritage EDP, L’Homme Ideal Parfum, and Habit Rouge Prive
So I kind of gave up of fragrances since no woman has ever commented on how I smell. That said, thoughts in givenchy gentleman? I like how it smells and just need something cheap and reliable.
>>18560614Boisee is absolutely the best Gentleman of the recent line up. And yes my gf has said she likes it.The EDT is too fruity and boring, the Reserve Privee is too a blatant rip of Dior Homme. The Cologne flanker was discontinued but it was good. The Gentleman Society fragrances are nice, Extreme being the best, but they aren’t as good as the iris line up that preceded it. You will not like the original Gentleman because your balls aren’t big enough and you need validation from women. The original Gentleman is a patchouli powerhouse for stronger men than you.
>>18560529If you’re in the US Guerlain is impossible to test in person unless you live in one of the major metropolitan areas like NY or LA because they basically only exist in Guerlain specific boutiques. EU on the other hand has them in most every department and make-up store, at least for the main line frags.
>>18560614A lot of women have recommended me Gentlemen Reserve Privee and told me that it's amazing on guys but I don't get it. Neither on skin or clothing.
Percival is the best summer PDMHerod is the best winter PDM
>>18560384it's so good. get myself a 50ml bottle last week. i'll probably get GITS some time next year in the spring. so comforting
>>18560646>the best pdm frags are just clones of fierce and tobacco vanillevery telling
>>18560392off the top of my head, Greenley comes to mind. Aventus and D&G Light Blue Intense too, though the apple isn't as prominent.
>>18560588the l'art et la matiere line can be heavy. Tobacco honey is heavy and cloying as they come, but i like it
You have to test this on skin. On paper it smells totally different. Long lasting, warm, vanilla forward, cozy, love this stuff
>>18559415>>18559564>>BdC ParfumWhat's the performance? Does it project well? Does it last long? Lets say when compared to Sauvage EDP, or Gisada Ambasador or some clones like CDNIM?
>>18560700Similar to Sauvage EdP on performance and projection. Idk BdC lasts for 24 on me irrespective if flanker.
>>18560687gits is what i imagine the major smells like
Is buying clones of more expensive frags cringe or based? What are the best clones in your opinion?
>>18560703Wouldn't getting Lexclusive be a play for performance? Or does it smell way different than the rest?
>>18560708>Is buying clones of more expensive frags cringe or based?neither>What are the best clones in your opinion?personally i avoid anything middle eastern
Best frag for a 30 year old laborer from the northwoods that works outside all day?
>>18560712I'm going to be honest with you as a big fan of Chanel as men's fragrance house. L'exclusif smells too similiar to the EdP and Parfum. It struck me as a cash-grab when I first smelled it. It's redundant to own l'exclusif if you already have the EdP or Parfum. I could justify the purchase if you own the EdT or happen to be a big Bleu fan. I personally prefer the EdT and the EdP. EdT morning/day and EdP for evenings/night.
>>18560712>>18560721I should add that Jacques Polge created Bleu EdT and EdP while his soon Olivier took the dna and created the Parfum and L'exclusif. It's quite easy to notice the philosophical difference between the two and I much prefer Jacques' creations.
>>18560716YSL Y EdP or Versace Pour Homme would be excellent for your everyday use.
>>18560721>>18560726Unrelated party to the conversation, but I too own the L’Exclusif and am underwhelmed. It’s not bad, it’s just… not interesting enough compared to the predecessors, especially at an upcharge.
>>18560737>It’s not bad, it’s just… not interesting enough compared to the predecessors, especially at an upcharge.Precisely. Well put.
I avoid european clones like a plague, you pay grands for a shitty longevity and sillage.Best house for me is Maison Alhambra, followed by Fragrance World. Megara (Megamare) is my fav clone right now
>>18560753Didnt even knew they were a thing
>>18560610I would never buy Areej but every time you see who the customers are of any perfume are they are the grossest looking normalfags. I guess it takes a specific kind of person to go "I want my appearance associated with this perfume".

Does Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme project at all?
>>18560793>You peopleget out
>>18560546Idole is a $250 original, but you can get Bentley for men Intense for $60. I've had both. Idole is better, but only slightly, and Bentley Intense is much better than its price point. It's a strong winter time spicy woody scent. I think it's quite strong on the leather too. >>18560697It's a very nice high quality cheapie with a less than average longevity. It's surprisingly light for its notes and very easy to wear.>>18560708>clonesAlways a gamble because they are all blind buy. Asad was particularly good, but only if you already know what the Elixir smells like.>>18560716you need something that will complement the smell of earth, greens, and sweat. Coach Green with that kiwi note should cut through that sweat smell, but you still get fresh Earthy rosemary and lavender with a Cedar base.
>>18560589myslf
Wore CdG Kyoto today, very fresh and light cedar.
Bros recommend me a similar fragrance accord to this one. Budget isn't an issue for me, this has been my signature for years but the longevity is bad and I think they're reformulating it since the newer batches smell different.

it's a l'eau bleue d'issey pour homme kinda day
>>18560855>veganDo they use synthetic musk?
>>18560935All musk is synthetic, well “technically” seeing as petrochemicals used to be a decaying T-Rex or something
>>18560937>All musk is syntheticNot my attars
>>18560855If you don't mind a hint of vanilla
>>18560990>hintIt 90% vanilla

What fragrances do you guys consider Non-beginner friendly, meaning that someone who is not intensely familiar with fragrances might either not understand or find difficult to like.
>>18561016fecal tincture
>>18561016I tried black oud by montale as a beginner, that was something.Rose, oud, civet, musk in general really, gun powder, the "artsy" stupidly niche stuff like blood accord that one etat de libre perfume springs to mind but i forget the name
>>18561016It actually took me a while to understand La Nuit De L'Homme.
>>18560942especially your attars
>>18561108The bottle costs literally $1.25 to make though...
