It gets a bit frizzier over the course of the day but just barely and I have to be careful with it and not rub it up against anything because I don’t use any styling products so it has no hold.
but when I wake up the next day it’s ruined and I have to wash it again.

I have this curl when my hair wants to, very rarely but most of the time it will have dry looking more wavy than curly kinda look. I put mine in a loose manbun most of the time since you dont really want to torture the roots and get traction balding. Getting into the curly hair care to make it look great is even more work when my seb derm/scalp psoriasis raped scalp is too sensitive. Tried the usual nizoral (too drying, even more itchy), selenium sulfide (drying), zinc pyritone (doesnt really work, drying), olamine something (calm my scalp from the itch but the sebderm still there),coal/pine tar (too drying, itching), just salicylic acid shampoo seem to be best to lift those big ass seb derm flakes.

Some oils I have tried
-virgin coconut (heavy and hot,seem to buildup the scalp problem even more)
-virgin olive oil (same as coconut oil)
-argan oil (get me some nice curl but made my scalp itch and scalp buildup)
-cosmetic grade fractionated coconut oil (just ok, seen to loose the moisturising effect after 3-4 hours, less scalp build up)
-food grade mct oil (c8,c10) (pretty good,no itch, a bit of scalp buildup but expensive)
-jojoba oil (seem good so far)

Depends on your weather and oil you wanna use.Mine still around after 2-3 days, after just washing it daily with just water. If youre active you maybe need to shampoo daily and shit, gotta personalize your routine unfortunately.

1. Yes it should and water temperature affects it, but don't worry to much about it. Rule of thumb should be applying when you need it to control frizz and don't do it so much it's complete oily all day.

Can anyone identify what in the everloving fuck is going on with the back of my head? It was straight just a week ago, but is now crazy every day. This is my first time attempting length like this. Does it need to be thinned out, or chopped off completely? Should I buy a straightener? My current routine is showering, leaving the hair moist after some towel drying, combing straight, and then donning a beanie.

Dont rub your hair too hard when towel drying, try squeezing the water out with the towel instead since rubbing against coarse fabric can damage your hair and that includes your pillowcase. And if conditioning or oiling still doesnt work, your hair might be just turning into natural wavy or curly now its growing out. Get better opinion at your local saloon to see if its damaged and trim them out.

your hair is probably wavier than you realize. When hair is relatively short, it can mask pattern/texture of the hair. In your instance, the reason it's fanning out like that at the nape of the neck is because of the natural curving of the neck in that direction and the way you're combing it also anchors in that pattern. It's similar to when skater-boys have hair that flips up around the sides, because their hats push the hair out.

For reference, that's similar to what my hair does at that length, but when it's 20+ inches long it looks like this.

Went to the barber. Got one of the worst haircuts of my life. I was very specific with what I wanted. The first thing he did was take the clippers and shape my hairline near my temple. Ruined my holiday.

Feel like posting my updated wash day routine for the winter. I alternate between roller sets and wearing my hair curly around this time of year. This week is curly. Pics in order from start to finish.

0) Pre-poo: oil and massage scalp with Mielle rosemary mint oil. Generously apply rosemary mint mask to dry hair, reaching full saturation. Finger detangle. Sit under hood dryer for 20-60 minutes to mimic hot oil treatment.

1) First wash: Get hair completely wet w/ cool water from shower. Lather TGIN Triple Moisture shampoo and scrub scalp using massager. Brush through strands. Pre-poo and finger detangling makes this possible w/o breakage. Removes buildup from strands. Rinse well.

2) Second wash: Repeat steps for first wash. Lather is much more intense as excess oil and dirt has been stripped away. Rinse.

3) Condition: Generously apply TGIN Triple Moisture conditioner to strands using prayer hands, rake method, and finally a wide tooth comb to start curl clumps. Scrunch. Plop into shower cap for 5-10 minutes while you wash body and/or shave. Rinse.

4) Leave-in: I have porous hair and it’ll feel like straw by day 4-5 if I don’t do this after rinsing. While hair is still dripping. Flip all hair to front. Use combo of prayer hands, rake, and scrunch to apply small amounts of SheaMoisture Curl Smoothie. Flip hair to side and other side and repeat to evenly coat all strands. Plop into microfiber towel.

5a) Style Prep: Rewet hair with spray bottle. Apply heat protectant spray.
Apply Rizzo’s Curl Defining Cream to hair using same method for leave-in. Section hair into top/bottom, back/sides.

5b) Styling: Start with back section. Take horizontal sections starting at the nape of neck. Rake small amount Kinky Curly Curling Custard gel through section. Brush up and away from scalp using Denman 7 row styler. Lightly shake out curls as they fall. Repeat for all of back. For sides, do as back but in vertical sections brushed forward.

5c) Top: Taking horizontal sections, do as back but brushing up and forwards. 5d) Set: Plop in towel again and do your skincare in the meantime. Take hair down after less than 10 minutes, flip to front, and apply Doux Chief Rocka mousse using prayer hands. Scrunch flipped forward, then flipped side-side.

6) Home stretch (diffuse): Dry hair on low heat, medium fan speed w/ head flipped upside down, scrunching from ends to roots in small sections with a diffuser attachment. Flip head from side-side and repeat.

7: Break cast: Hair will be crunchy. That’s the gel cast. Take Saltair Santal Bloom hair oil and apply from ends to mids using prayer hands. Flip hair and repeat. Scrunch/shake/use Afro pick until desired volume achieved.

8: Profit: Have low maintenance curls for the rest of the week. Sleep with bonnet and simply shake out in the morning.

You’ll want a Denman 7 row styler or cheaper knockoff. Both work. After applying curl cream and styling like usual, section off the unstyled looking part in the back. Then start at the nape of your neck taking horizontal sections. Brush them upward, then back; away from your scalp.

You can also figure out your hair type from this chart (https://share.google/0cdGKCppNwCCQIjVn) and search “(hair type) (hair length) brush styling tutorial” for more in depth instructions to do your whole head if you want a more consistent look.

If you like the result, but want more hold/less frizz after it dries try using a gel and/or mousse.

I have big flakes on one part of my head, how do I get rid of them?
When I shower I use shampoo and conditioner and just after my hair dries a bit I can see the white dry skin forming in the same place (even part of my forehead were there are no hairs)
