>>18587759I strongly prefer Mousse Illuminee over Bon Monsieur, both the profile but also because MI is much stronger than BM. Regardless, I agree I think his time in the limelight is over, just like Tauer. Thankfully, however, the things he has already made are unlikely to be discontinued or heavily reformulated like is always a not-to-far possibility with designers. Get his discovery set, Tabac Vert is pretty good too, and he has a couple others that are a little above average, but I think Mousse Illuminee will always be his biggest hit.

>>18588042What do you recommend?
I finally got a decant of bois imperial coming this week. Am I gonna be disappointed? Tbh I kinda enjoy all the most popular stuff you find on parfumo and fragrantica. What worries me is that it's going to be like grey vetiver and I hate grey vetiver
>>18588073>hate grey vetiverWhy? It's>Fresh and clean scent>Refined and classy>Suitable for formal occasions>Great for office and daytime wear>Sophisticated and opulent scent>Long-lasting fragrance>Cool, salty, mossy edge>Can be worn by anyone
>>18588084i found it to be way too sharp and astringent
>>18588073The basil is rather sour to my nose, but its performance (at least, my bottle) is just absolutely ludicrous.
What's the boozy/salty sweet fragrance every dude is wearing today? it smells so strong and a bit salty background like megamare but sweet and ambery at the same time.
>>18588110Never experienced basil in perfume. I eagerly await its arrival
I sold my royal oud decant last year and now really regretting it because I remember the dry down was sublime, I just hated the opening so much. I realize it's probably the cedar which is also why I love br540 because it has a lot of cedar too. Can you guys recommend some great cedarwood fragrances?
>>18588130Theres probably other options, but you can try Serge Lutens Poivre Noir. Its pretty cheap on discounters (~$85 for 100ml). It doesn't smell exactly like Royal Oud, but theres definitely some similarities. You obviously have to like black pepper though since its very prominent in the opening, but it subsides after a bit and you get the cedar+nutmeg listed in the note breakdown. Its not listed, but I also get some of the backbone from L'orpheline (frankincense + white musk) which adds to the similarities to Royal Oud.

>>18588073>decant of something available for $25Bois Imperial smells nothing like Grey Vetiver so if that's all you're looking for you will like it. For me BI is a cheap synthetic green mess, it revolts me. I get how Grey Vetiver can be a bit much with it's sourness but other than that I find it ok.
>>18588016Every perfume is for a limited time if you think about it.

>>18588130Weird, I don’t sniff BR540 that often, but any time I do cedar is never the first thing on my mind. That said, if you want something with a lot of cedar grab a sample of Pineward’s Gristmill, he didn’t tell me the actual %, but apparently it has an overdose of cedar along with some smoke and other woods. He has shifted the formula slightly (I think) since I last got a sample, but it was crazy how evocative of a fragrance it was. Really paints this picture of wood *everywhere* a tinge of smoke in the air, and machine oil. I don’t intend to say it smells anything like Fahrenheit, but if Fahrenheit were the (good) example of a fragrance that smells like chemicals, Gristmill would be the more nature based woods and smoke version.
>>18588215Dior Homme Intense since you sound like you fuck both women and frail men
>>18588181Tauer’s is probably a better fit to your question as >>18588198 said, but if you want something a little rougher you could also try Iron Duke. Lonestar is probably the softest leather scent I’ve sniffed without it actually smelling like suede. >>18588215Any Bleu de Chanel is probably the best fit if you don’t otherwise care about fragrances. >>18588310Seconded. >>18588334Fantastic in terms of scent. It’s a gourmand for people that don’t like gourmands. It’s nothing like Chergui or AS, but it perfectly encapsulates the idea of little ginger candies, performance is only a couples hours though. 2-4 tops.
>>18588218Didn't expect another Al-rehab user in here. I'm currently wearing oud and rose. Idk what's it's a dupe of but it smells like the oud from Oud Wood paired with sexy rose and white lily
If you're poor, just buy YSL.
>>18588355They are the perfect scents for sex havers, Chads, and normies. Best not to get into this stupid ""hobby"".
>>18588368The way out of this hobby is accepting designer brands are right.
>>18588368>sex haversThat would be Al Rehab Avenue or Oud Wood
If you think about it, gourmands are THE functional perfumes because people are wired to like sweets. So you either wear a gourmand for others to like you or you wear whatever else for yourself to enjoy.
>>18588368Spoken like a true incel/teenager. The truth is that using the same frag slop that everyone else used won't make you have more sex, and using random niche stuff won't make you have more sex either. Most frags smell good, and they won't make you more or less attractive than other people. You should wear frags that make you feel better or standout from the crowd, this thread is for enthusiasts, the other thread is for 16 year olds who want to wear whatever is mega popular which you can find with a simple Google search, it's useless, you're better off going to sephora and asking the cutest girl there to show you some frags that work for you and getting the one you like best.
Can someone reccomend me some cheaper version of picrel? They discontinued it, and I can only see them in much higher prices I can't afford.
>>18588364Al-Rehab use real oud. Tom Ford use synthetic oud.

>>18588404Try looking for "dried rose" notes instead of just rose. Sometimes the floral ones just come off as fancy laundry detergent. Rose accord is widely used in laundry and vagina hygiene products. It's up to the perfumers how to make it unique.

It’s closely associated with the Concord grape and is the flavor you traditionally encounter in grape soda and the like.
