I got my boots about 2 months ago and they're nice so they're the only pair I want to wear atm, I'm planning on picking up shoe trees next payday and do have some boots on my radar for after the new years. So I'm pretty new to boots besides the cheap shit issued in the military. I picked up these on black friday sale and while I like them, the rear leather on top digs a bit into my leg when I walk. I have to wear very thick socks to dampen it or I've tied the lace looser and "slid" my foot forward inside the boot to make more space on the back of my calf yet I hate this option as I feel like a fucking nigger walking around.

Really high quality though. A definite step up from my Tricker's and C&J. Not so much of a fan of the fact that the leather noticeable different boot from boot lel but it's natural roughout so it would have probably not mattered after wearing them once outside. And I was planning on dubbing them.

I work on a loading dock in addition to other manual work and I'm currently wearing Grant Stone brass boots as my work boot. Before that I wore copper R&T iron rangers as my work boot. Boots at this price point and build quality are fine for jobs that don't require safety certifications. The idea that they're not work boots because they don't have tradie certs is pretty dumb.

Picrel My Whites Line Scout LTT's. Please excuse the dirt i haven't cleaned them yet today. I love them so much, they're so comfy and reliable. One complaint is they gave me blisters on the top of my toe during the break in period, but that went away shortly after i applied obenauf's to the inside where it was rubbing. Great boots, i hope to wear them for a long time to come.

I believe the point was that if you actually need (keyword: need) boots for work you want something other than IRs and probably something that's explicitly made for work. Red Wing themselves puts their actual work boots separate from their heritage line. This was all a counter argument to the idea that wearing IRs to a desk job is somehow wasting their potential, which is a silly argument when they actually aren't really made to take the kind of intense beating actual work where you NEED tough boots will subject them to. most of those work boots are shit that fall apart in 1-2 years and cost slightly less than a boot allowance. i used to go through them like crazy until a former housemate left some redwings loggers behind and they've lasted 4 years so far (starting in rough condition, leather cracked around creasy areas, sole almost entirely worn down, deep scrapes and pits in the toes) through construction, delivery, and now surveying. only things ive done are shoe cream every week or so, got them resoled once, and put some squeeze-on rubber cap toes on them. i'll be sad when they finally die because they fit well and ill have to spend time measuring my feet and trying others on.
