How bad is it to wear the same boots everyday + not use shoe trees for a few months? I got my boots about 2 months ago and they're nice so they're the only pair I want to wear atm, I'm planning on picking up shoe trees next payday and do have some boots on my radar for after the new years. I don't do manual labor so it's not like I'm sweating a lot.
>>18612200It doesn't really matter. Shoe trees are just an upsell item for manufacturers to get reddit bugmen types to spend more At the end of the day you're probably fine
>>18612200few months should be ok
>>18612198Docs but maybe marginally better but at the end of the day they're still just Docs
>>18612211Are they really as shit as doc martens?
>>18612218since they are just Docs but made in England instead of Thailand, maybe with some nicer leather, I'm gonna say yesThey're just Docs with a different coat of paint (thread color)I think Solvair has shanks but Doc Marten doesn't

I know there's a sneaker thread but they like the ugliest shit I've ever seen, I'm more interested in what boot guys think of leather sneakers. I saw these on Gustin, 200 dollars is a bit high for sneakers imo but they might be nice for warmer weather. What do you anons think?
>>18612199noe>>18612225yeah they're a bit slow, but it's hard to beat their quality/price ratio.also they have my size 5 UK which many manufacturers do not have.
>>18612226I don't care for them, if I want a low top leather shoe there are plenty of good options.

What about re-soling a pair of thursdays? The leather is fine and well broken in but the sole is shid. It sounds like it runs about $230 but considering I paid like $120 originally I don’t feel like it’s that bad of a deal.
>>18612328the reason why you would want to resole a proper pair of GYW is because the insole is molded to the shape of your foot. turdsdays uses poron for their insole which means no molding has occured and the poron would have collapsed a long time ago, they made a disposable mall tier boot
>>18612335>the reason why you would want to resole a proper pair of GYW is because the insole is molded to the shape of your foot. No, dummy. The main reason is because the upper is broken in and serviceable. The insole just has to be in good shape, otherwise you're getting into recraft territory. What it's made of is irrelevant.
>What it's made of is irrelevant.
fellas... wtf do i do here? i've only worn these boots around a dozen times. i suspect its because the boots are kept right at front door. its winter time so its actually cold at that spot because the air comes in from under the door. either that or its a fit issue (it's actually a half size too small for me but still wearable)
>>18612406what the heel pad coming off? just glue it back down
>>18612406If you bought them new I'd try to warranty the boots, no reason to have issues within a week of wear however minor. If you got them used or there's no warranty, do what the other anon said.
>>18612200>How bad is it to wear the same boots everyday + not use shoe trees for a few months?Depends on your environment and how much your feet sweat. If you're wearing them every day, you're going to want trees. They don't have to be the expensive kind. Regular ~$20 shoe trees are fine as long as they're made of cedar.

>>18612466GYW vs handsewn stitchdown
>>18612472Odd that they call it hand-sewn stitchdown when it's not the stitchdown that is hand-sewn, it's the welt. The actual stitchdown is made by machine. It's pretty cool construction though.
>>18612584Most PNW brands just do what they've been doing for decades without an actual understanding of other shoe construction methods. They're pretty retarded overall.
Do you guys know any pair of boots that look like this? This is a pair of Cheaneys, but it’s a women’s model.
c&j snowdons
>>18612584because the handsewn is actually referring to the handwelt where they carve a leather holdfast from the insole to the welt with a hand stitch, it removes the critical failure point of the gemming used in GYW. handwelting is the superior method of construction>>18612598retard
>>18612682Normal stitchdown already lacks the so called gemming failure point though. So it's obviously not for that reason

is wearing a leather jacket with leather boots too much leather?
>>18613232the snowdons have a lot of toe room/volume, and the instep is kind of spacious. i tried 1/2 down and toes were too close to end of boot, so took my normal size and added a pedag pad to the instep area. i took same size as my harlechs and harvard 2 loafers. i bought these years ago for $765 delivered, unfortunately they sell for $1030 plus shipping now.

>>18615782It's hilarious cope that boots must be foam shit with glued on soles in order to be considered "work boots" Most work boots from the 20th century and earlier were basically the same as combat boots in the world wars and later. And if the boots were good enough to march across Europe and through the Pacific then I'm sure you'll be fine Most "work" boots are designed to be disposable. If you're on a job site you're probably wearing Timbs or something, wearing them for a year and then tossing them for another pair.
>>18615782>>18615786If you had worked actual blue collar jobs you'd know serious boots have to meet certain specifications like various ASTM versions, you can go "ummm ackshually these boondockers were used by soldiers in world war two" all you want and they'll still tell you to fuck off and come back with an actual pair of boots that are certified up to spec.
so its not real work if work doesn't have ASTM spec requirements?
>>18615797Not according to anon. It doesn't count as "real" to work on a shop floor, or in a garage or in a field or in a factory. That's not "real" workONLY Real™ jobs that require ASTM boots count. DON'T WEAR BOOTS TO A JOB IF IT'S NOT A REAL™ JOB And the construction workers or electricians wearing RW Moc Toes are NOT REAL JOBS because that anon said so
>>18615793Thank God I am not a manual labor tradegie that has to wear those things to my 20/hr jobinb4 anon saying "UM ACKCHYUALLY" I make 300k as a welder with my associates degree in atheism "
i don't understand, anon says they are aren't work boots so why is he so mad people wear them to jobs he says aren't real work?
>>18615811Because you are making things up.
>>18615831You said right here>>18615712 that they're not real boots. That was after you posted this bait image here>>18615595 So who is making things up?
>>18615844I said they're not real WORK boots, based on our current understanding of work boots, that being boots that are certified to meet a series of safety requirements which makes them suitable to use in places that REQUIRE work boots. Yes you can show up to other jobs that don't require work boots in Iron Rangers, you can also show up in Sambas for that matter. While we're at it, literally none of the popular boots discussed here are work boots, I don't understand why that is a hot take, this is the fashion board and not the blue collar workers board.
>>18615864>While we're at it, literally none of the popular boots discussed here are work boots, I don't understand why that is a hot take, this is the fashion board and not the blue collar workers board.Does anyone here actually has a job requiring work boots? Like trades, foresters, linemen, firegighters, whatever?
>>18615864>people wear boots for work>"not THAT work!" fuck off anon you're a fucking retard
>>18615868Yes. This is what I wear at work as a welder.
>>18615868im an electrician and wear my red wing mocs. i cant wear metal toe caps bc idont wanna die. for protection we use these attachable clips to protect the toes.i wear my ir when im fucking around in the field
>>18615868I'm a technician that works both in the shop and meeting customers in the field, so i wear my semi dress
>>18615868I work at a manufacturing company but not on the shop floor. I am required to have boots that are closed toe and go above the ankle. I rotate between my White's MPs and Alden Indys. My IRs aren't super comfy so I usually don't wear them except to mix it up
>>18615928Meant to add when I'm on the shop floor I have to wear those, but since I go back and forth between the office and the shop a lot I usually just wear them every day
>>18615714Uhh, soft and shock absorbing?
>>18616023red wing 875s will be the softest and most shock absorbing
how the fuck do you size the red wing moc toes? half size down feels tight around my toes
You're not a boot-loop right...?
>>18612671what pants are those?
>>18615868Yes, I'm a painter, but certified protective footwear and other gay safety things like hardhats are typically only required and enforced on larger construction sites.I wear sneakers. My current shoes are Merrell Moab's and Altra escalante.
>>18616084what happened to this guy?
>>18615868Used to work a manufacturing job where safety toes were optional because the things that would get dropped on your feet would shear your foot clean off. Still wore RW Supersoles because we had 5lb hammers and other tools that would hurt a toe, plus they were comfy when standing all day. Got fired like a month after I bought the damn things lmao.
>>18616094I heard he dropped two nukes and then tore up the white house. Never heard much of him since.
>>18616094Boot-loop fatigue
>>18616023Anything with a wedge sole a la vibram christy. Actually the softest and most shock absorbing would be crepe soles but they have several shortcomings.
>>18614303Please for the love of god do not wear these if you are bald (unless black) bearded or fat
>>18614126Love the bxb boot lasted me 6 years now (Beware Shit photo quality)
>>18616130For the love of god stop wearing skinny jeans it looks like you're on stilts

>>18616597lol what in the fuck
>>18616600Exactly.
>>18616597Damn and I bought a pair of Vibergs in roughout chromexcel that I returned basically because they looked too fancy/high-end for me.
>>18616640>Vibergs in roughout chromexcelslap some obernaf LP on it
>>18616644Honestly wasn't much of a fan of the last either(2045). Not a great fit for me and a lot pointier in person. Dunno how much it shows up in person. Maybe I'll try the 1035 or something eventually. Really high quality though. A definite step up from my Tricker's and C&J. Not so much of a fan of the fact that the leather noticeable different boot from boot lel but it's natural roughout so it would have probably not mattered after wearing them once outside. And I was planning on dubbing them.

>>18616640roughout too fancy?
>>18616664safety toe will fuck up some sizes. id bet this is a small size or something. I've seen the same thing with nicks
>>18615868I work on a loading dock in addition to other manual work and I'm currently wearing Grant Stone brass boots as my work boot. Before that I wore copper R&T iron rangers as my work boot. Boots at this price point and build quality are fine for jobs that don't require safety certifications. The idea that they're not work boots because they don't have tradie certs is pretty dumb.
>>18616777why did you switch from the iron rangers? how long did they last?
>>18616665why the tongue texture still loading
>>18616777>The idea that they're not work boots because they don't have tradie certs is pretty dumb. Not my point. I was asking a question. So far, about half the answers are people who don't wear tgese kind of boots for work and theother half don't seem like the boots are enduring harsh conditions. If any, my point is that the idea that you should only wear these type of boots at specific jobs is dumb.
>>18616660>Really high quality though. A definite step up from my Tricker's and C&J. >Not so much of a fan of the fact that the leather noticeable different boot from boot
>>18616660yea those really shouldn't have been sold as firsts

>>18616777It's pretty easy. Are your boots disposable? Are you prepared to have your boots destroyed in a year because of harsh use and will the protect from hazardous environments?>>18615738Balmorals and oxfords are work boots/shoes because some suit wears it in the office.
>>18616914>Balmorals and oxfords are work boots/shoes because some suit wears it in the officeCorrect. What's the issue?
>>18616719yes that is my point he was like 3
anyone else thinking about this blackbear wesco collab
>>18616660Just realized(after several days lel) why they are so much pointier and narrow in real life than what I was expecting. They're actually on the 1940 last but the website I ordered them from says 2045. Seemed like a very strange looking/feeling "munson inspired" last but now it makes sense. We'll see if they will offer me a full refund now instead of store credit and charging 42 euro for the return.
>>18616868That was another anon, retard.
>>18617017Those are some crazy prices, does Wesco normally go that high or is it Blackbear? I've never even considered them because of the massive wait time to get a pair, but that one black pair an anon has is nice.
>>18617086>t-that's not m-me
>>18617133Schizo
>>18617141knew that was gonna be your reply lmao. it's been your go-to for ages now
Does any company make boots that look like blundstones but are not dogshit quality?
>>18617150old stock RM williamsif you're ok with christy soles then White's
>>18616793The leather on the outside was basically rotting in the creases due to constant water exposure at my previous job. And, honestly, the heel on the IRs is fairly loud with my heelstrike. They lasted about 5 years and really did put up with a ton of abuse.
>>18617102it's just blackbearthe guy's "brand" is going around asking other brands to make the bestest product they can make with the most expensive materials they can get and then upcharges the fuck out of it for "making it happen"besides the "ultra limited" FOMO there is nothing going for it, most of the stuff is unwearably loud and outragously overpriced on topit's actually brazen to charge as much as he does as an online retailer and not even bother providing garment measurements on stuff that's sometimes from random undisclosed makersif you want shell engineers you're better off going with role club, probably same turnaround time and not far off in price as these wescos
>>18617150rm williiams with round toe, matt/oily work boot leather and rubber sole
>>18615868Fuckin hell, I'll bite. I'm an arborist/climber/wildfire mitigation in rocky mountain region. I wear these, Whites Smokechaser. $600/pair. They take a serious beating, handle gaffs no sweat, low arch for all day walking and working. $300 Danners, Red wings, etc don't last over 3 months. I've worked in these since March. Tough boots
>>18617178perfect thanks
>>18615868I'm an arborist in MT. Picrel My Whites Line Scout LTT's. Please excuse the dirt i haven't cleaned them yet today. I love them so much, they're so comfy and reliable. One complaint is they gave me blisters on the top of my toe during the break in period, but that went away shortly after i applied obenauf's to the inside where it was rubbing. Great boots, i hope to wear them for a long time to come.
funny how adamant that faggot was that unless you were a tradegie manual labor cuck who needed foam safety toe boots, you don't need boots and nothing you do for work counts and then like 10 people posted their boots they work in that aren't foam shit
chromexcel more like chromeincel haha
v100bros
Jordans 1 High tops, all you need for winter.
>>18617235I believe the point was that if you actually need (keyword: need) boots for work you want something other than IRs and probably something that's explicitly made for work. Red Wing themselves puts their actual work boots separate from their heritage line. This was all a counter argument to the idea that wearing IRs to a desk job is somehow wasting their potential, which is a silly argument when they actually aren't really made to take the kind of intense beating actual work where you NEED tough boots will subject them to. But apparently someone got offended at IRs not being considered real mean hardwearin' work boots or something.
>>18617303black hands typed this?
>>18615712most of those work boots are shit that fall apart in 1-2 years and cost slightly less than a boot allowance. i used to go through them like crazy until a former housemate left some redwings loggers behind and they've lasted 4 years so far (starting in rough condition, leather cracked around creasy areas, sole almost entirely worn down, deep scrapes and pits in the toes) through construction, delivery, and now surveying. only things ive done are shoe cream every week or so, got them resoled once, and put some squeeze-on rubber cap toes on them. i'll be sad when they finally die because they fit well and ill have to spend time measuring my feet and trying others on.
>>18613595>>18613598I think a lot of the clown mode was because millennial hipsters were wearing them with skinny jeans, which makes any shoe look huge. I used to use them as actual work boots before I switched to western boots and they looked fine with straight cuts, admittedly I'm only a 9.5 though.
>>18617590>shoe cream every week or so
>>18617590>i'll be sad when they finally die because they fit well and ill have to spend time measuring my feet and trying others on.If you know your red wing heritage size then you basically know your size everything else too
I want chelsea boots for urban winter/snow and can also be smart or business casual; I was thinking thursday legends but since they're apparently gay, any alternatives?
>>18617721meermincarmina
>>18617724I was actually looking at meermin for...dress loafers. I'm looking at the meermin chelsea boots now and I don't know, they just seem kind of bland, like they don't have an edge or some kind of intelligence. And now I'm looking at the carmina boots and that diamond shape just makes me think they're trying too hard to look like dress shoes.I think it's the way the thursday legend's "instep" is just a smooth curve. Am I just gay?

against my better judgement I got the Dior Navigate combat boot copy from From the First. I just wanted some beater combat boots since I don't wear my Inaisce boots often.
>>18617639but they dont make anything exactly like the logger (high arch, heel you can hook around scaffolding, 10" high). only thing I would like different on them is a cap toe since the toes did wear and pit with me being a retard who ends up scraping them against rebar, sharp edges, concrete and wood.>>18617599what's wrong with shoe cream?
