SOTD: Ganymede

The mineral note is very unusual.
One single spray was already too strong and I had to wash it off after a few hours. It's not gone, guess I'll keep smelling it for a day or two.
Despite the almost nauseating strength, it's somehow nice. I would wear a very diluted version of it.

Where ever it is that lists oud, it’s likely outdated. I vaguely recall oud being a listed note when it was first released, but if you check Parfumo or even the official Essential Parfums website they don’t mention oud at all.

Whoever it is that holds the Akigalawood captive (I can’t be fucked to look) I believe they claim the material has oud “nuances” or similar language. *If* oud was ever listed as an official note, it has likely been removed because there’s really no oud to the fragrance, material wise or even just as scent.

I got a bottle of Calvin Cologne. It starts very clean and soapy like Tuscany but goes more floral and herbal. Tuscany stays clean with a little leather and more spice. It seems a bit generic like the aromatics of the time, strangely I don't see lavender listed in Calvin which is what I thought gave it some of that clean aromatic smell, I need some reeducation. One thing Calving does right is that it goes softer and gentler. It's not as aggressive as some of its contemporaries. It would be a nice relaxing bedtime scent.

becomes way too much after a few hours. The extrait is 10x worse.

Tilia is the best thing from that house.

I think i've come full circle.
i have tons of niche perfumes for all seasons and occasions, but i kinda want a simple and versatile crowd pleasing designer frag. something basic that pretty much anyone will agree smells good.
im looking at Bleu de Chanel EDP at the moment, but curious to hear other options.
>>
>>18624278
I have plenty of unique and polarizing designer scents and mass appealing niche scents. The niche/designer distinction is pointless. Try Angel Man.
>>
>>18624263
That you think the alternative to endless sampling is blindly following influences is only a demerit to you.
>>
>>18624282
i generally find designers to be a little more basic and linear. obviously it depends on the house, but that's what i have in my collection. but if you have some mass appealing options in your collection, i'd love to hear them
>>
>>18624282
>Angel Man.
that shit sucks dude, i have yet to smell a mugler fragrance that wasn't complete garbage
>>
>>18624287
The most complimented perfumes in my collection are Portrait of a Lady and Gucci PH2 (discontinued unfortunately).

>>18624288
Maybe the new one sucks but I love the vintage. I also like Mugler Cologne. What do you like?, because those are very mass appealing which is what was asked for.
>>
>>18624290
>Portrait of a Lady
i quite like it too. but at the moment i have too many rose frags in my collection to add another one. it's something i'd get eventually however
>>
>>18624293
I think it's a well done fragrance and certainly very popular but I feel only like half of it is my style. Both the opening and the late base note fit me best but the middle loses me a bit, like there is a lot going on. Dan Tes Bras is more my style but it's not as popular because women don't like powdery anymore.

Recently got a sample of Lyric Man.

First impression:
Disgusting 40 year old woman smell. What the F is wrong with men thinking they can pull this off.

Sniff once a day, start to think it smells ok.

Give it a full wearing in high heat:
Very nice and pleasant smell. It is reminiscent of a high quality body wash, but after an hour or two it smells like the roses have wilted giving it a masculine edge. If you want to smell different to most people but still fresh and clean, give it a try.

I will sample other rose in the future so I can make up my mind on what I like best. So far I think it might be bottle worthy if you don't have a rose in your collection. Doesn't smell synthetic at all or headache inducing.

imagine watching this retard
