need a recommendation for a fragrance. Please help a newfag out

>Provide your age range.
35
>Provide the season or climate you intend to wear the fragrance in.
Spring & Summer
>Provide your ideal price range for buying a recommended frag.
Less than $250
>Provide some details on what type of scent you are looking for (favorite notes and accords, hated notes and accords, etc.)
All time Favorites: Bleu de Chanel parfum, Versace Pour Home edt
Not really into: musk, the beaver taint stuff

>Provide some details on your intended aesthetic and setting for wearing a scent (frag for school, the office, dates, casual daily wear, etc.)
Frag for daily work wear- I’m the sales manager for a roofing company. I’m in offices throughout the day but also spend a lot of time outside.

Looking for a fresh & incredible frag with great sillage for a full work day. It doesn’t need to be niche because nobody around me is wearing anything, it just needs to be an excellent frag for myself and also my meetings with home builders and homeowners.
>>
>>18626961
The BdC Parfum is already pretty ‘all weather’ but if you want something geared somewhat more towards spring and summer you could stick to Chanel and get Allure Homme Sport Eau Extrem

can't go wrong with Y EDP.
Vibrato or Hacivat could be nice too

Not going to gatekeep for once, Hacivat X. Its better than the original because it doesn't have the pungent oakmoss.
Its masculine and aromatic. Doesn't come off a b*itch boy which is what you will want to avoid when dealing with builders, while also smelling nice to clientele.

>>
>>18627120
In a vacuum the fragrance isn’t bad, even somewhat good to be honest, but it was a weird release by Versace as it’s yet another spin on Aventus, but way, waaay late to the party, and on top of that they released it in mid to late fall when it’s clearly a summer frag.
>>
I complained about Fahrenheit la parfum in the last thread after coming back from testing. I was still in the sweet opening and it was a bit of a shock when had been expecting something a bit more rough. Also someone mentioned the ambient temp and that is something I had not really considered
After about 4 hours though it shifted to an oily leathery smell and held on through the rest of the day. It has grown on me to the point that I like it but it is still lacking the tar opening from the OG.

I've never layered before but am wondering if it would work with the parfum and edt, or would they wash each other out.
>>
>>18627206
Ah ok interesting. I can see the similarity with Aventus but it feels way better, more fresh. Also I could see it as a fall frag, especially due to the orange notes.
>>
>>18627203

That's probably what I am going to do but then I will have to buy the parfum version, which put the price of both the edt and parfum close to the price of a sealed vintage. I'm going to buy a travel atomiser first though and try and nick some from the sample bottle locally to see if it works

Pineward Noki - ripe fruits/mango + candy sweetness accord, little bit of wood and green accord (partially because of mint i think) in the background, started a bit of a headache for me. after 2 hours it gets a little better but the candy sweetness is still there and is annoying
Pineward Apple Tabac - smells like pic related but less sweet. basically a mix of virginia and burley tabacco + apple or some kind of apple syrup but not super sweet
Pineward Lime Cola - there are a few things that make this smell like coke from afar; something smoky, tea-like and spicy. but from up close you mostly smell woodiness. the wood accord is quite medicinal in this, especially in the drydown
Pineward Fanghorn II - i smell tree being cut by extremely sweaty person that did not wash for some time and there is a bit of a car garage smell or some kind of machine grease. stains skin like a mf

New to fragances in general, I'm trying to learn.
I know arab clones are very popular and cheap, do you guys have any recommendations or guides? I want something for warm weather, it's currently summer where I live
>>
>>18627346
read the faqs in op
also heres my guide: go to a department store and get an idea for what things smell like and from there identify what you actually like. if you do go the clone route, now you will know if something actually resembles the og because you have smelled it. most clones are hot garbage so this is important
also dont fall for the meme of "niche = better or higher quality"
>>
Newfag here. Going for a new cheap fresh fragrance for warm tropical weather. Both Mercedes Benz SEA and Davidoff Coolwater look decent, anyone with some experience on any of them?
>>
>>18627231
>one wears and tests perfumes on himself, the other doesn't
>one's early memories are from the fields and flowers in grasse, the other's are from warm sandy beaches and banana desserts
>one sees every person as a perfume and is inspired by them, especially women, the other makes perfumes for everyone
>one is a travel nut and regularly makes perfumes about specific places, the other doesn't
That's just part of it. Demachy is my favorite perfumer but I would never discredit Kurkdjian, he's very talented, I have some of his early stuff like Armani Mania which is nice. I find it curious for a company to change to a perfumer with a completely different life and design philosophy.

They have some out on display and other behind glass and it's a big franchise so I'm sure I could convince someone I've bought from previously to let me put some in a travalo thing, they let me spray them on myself if I ask.
I arbitraraly judge cologne based on what is on display and what's behind glass too.

>smell the cap
That's fucked, the tester bottles are literally etched or on the batch label tester or demo so they can't be resold by the shop.

I've always actually wondered if companies use stronger concentrations for their tester batches, and are those bottles slightly better?

It doesn’t actually happen oftentimes, usually when the sales assistant is an older woman they like to gatekeep a tester fragrance by saying something like “just one spray”. I tried pic related today and it's quite good, a nice buttery and slightly powdery, slightly soapy iris with a hint of sandalwood and a hint of airy amber as contour.
It also performs well, it's not my style but I recommend it if you're into iris and/or yellow flowers.
It's not L'Attesa, but it's definitely higher quality than the current formulations of Fahrenheit EDT and Parfum.

From most to least recent:
>Ambre Nuit, 10ml
The sample I got years ago felt more airy and light than this in the opening, was it really reformulated?
At any rate, 10/10 clubbing scent, the idea's basic but the execution is crazy good.
>French Lover, 5ml
I don't regret it but I wouldn't have bought more, it's not the frag I was looking for.
>Sultan Vetiver, 5ml
I don't regret it because of what I learned about vetiver, but I'm not even sure I'll finish it.
>Abraaj Viking, 100ml
Great, smells like Viking with a thicker drydown and it performs better.
Given Creed's batch consistency issues I'm sure there's been a batch at one point that smelled exactly like this.
>Arabian Incense, 80ml
I don't know, I don't regret it because it's the most realistic incense frag you can by for less than €100, but I sort of regret it because it's not the kind of incense I was looking for.
I'll maybe sell it if I get a bottle of Casbah or Bois d'Encens, or maybe not, who knows.
>>
>>18627487
No, amber is an accord of vanilla, benzoin, labdanum and tonka, in various proportions depending on the frag/brand, while norlimbianol smells more like a dry wood.
It doesn't help that sometimes "ambery" is used to refer to the character of ambergris, which smells nothing like the above amber.
Norlimbanol/timberol smells more like dry cedar.

Good choices Anon, big fan of the Apple Tabac, enjoy the Lime Cola but haven’t worn it much (picked it up at the absolute tail end of the season last year).
Love Pineward’s shit to death, but the extremely pigmented juice is unfortunate in many cases. Caravansary is so complex and fascinating but the pigmentation makes it basically unwearable.

Recommend a cold weather frag, please and thank you.
I'm 29, I have a bleached buzzcut and I dress sharp.
Price range is free to €2/ml.
I have a number of warm and hot weather frags, favorites include Casbah, Light Blue Eau Intense/Discover Vulcano, Acqua di Sale and Sycomore.
The frags I've been using the most in the cold are a cheap supermarket copy of Terre d'Hermes and a reputable copy of Interlude Man, but none of them are really what I'm looking for; TdH is too sharp and citrusy and peppery in the cold and the iso-e super is too light and musky, while Interlude Man is way too ambery and rich in kitchen spices.
I don't dislike "thick" frags in general, but I dislike many "thick" notes and accords, namely vanilla, amber, cinnamon, chocolate, oud, leather, dates and ethyl maltole.
Then again, it depends on what they're blended with as I dislike Grand Soir with a passion but I don't mind the amber in Ambre Nuit, I couldn't be paid to go around wearing Angel but I like the overdoes of ethyl maltole in BR540, and I can't imagine why anyone would like Ombré Leather but I don't mind the (mild) leather accord in all of Memo's leather frags, so I'm open to trying out stuff as long as those notes/accords aren't the focus.

My interest in frags is falling rapidly after a busy 2 months. I probably sampled 100+ and maybe 10% what I considered buying, bought a fraction of that and got maybe 4-5 that I consider repurchasing in the future. Had to refund 10+ bottles, and while few of the samples are straight up foul, most are just ok or meh. I'm still torn whether this experience was worth it, definitely not financially, it fucked my savings.
It just seemed so much more, but probably it's a me issue. Reviews about cumming instantly on smelling a frag, I smell it and it's nothing special. And for 100-200$ on a 50-70ml funny water it better make cum instantly as well.

It's also not available anymore on the site I bought it from, and I looked for the Enclave copy from the same brand but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere.
The Abraaj line is mostly made up of Amouage copies, so I'm guessing Amouage sued them for enough damages to make them pull back a little.

British Sterling any good?

Also, I’m looking for a Hugo Boss cologne I had in high school in the early 2000s. The bottle was this big, heavy, transparent, black bottle in a weird shape like an oddly cut crystal. The cap was also heavy like you could kill someone with it. Anyone know what it was? That one made women sniff at me like an aroused dog.

Because Fragrances are overall a scam industry to take advantage of retards
All this talk about
>this scent is shit
>clones/dupes are always trash
>wrong season to wear that
>outdated scent
Doesn't actually matter in real life
I'm not wearing it to impress other fragrances faggots, I'm wearing it for women+compliments
Good smell is good smell, no one cares about opening notes/dry down and whatever bullshit
Never had a woman complain before, and they always compliment even if it's a clone

Just like how the weightlifting retards inevitably realize that only other men really care that you're jacked, I've realized how little normal everyday people don't care about this autistic shit

But hey, go on continue buying perfumes so you can impress other grown men in this community

Where the FUCK do I sell a niche frag?

Útilykt Spray - 66°Norður x Fischersund
its quite interesting but resembles encre noire too much for me. i think you can layer a bit of blue shower gel (which is the base/drydown) + encre noire and you will get 70% of the smell but obviously less sophisticated
in the general sense though its pretty great for an hour or two. peppery, earthy (like soil starting to show up in the melting snow) and fresh. pic related easily comes to the mind when smelling it. if i had to give it a colour, it would be light blue.
Fischersund No. 101 Fischersund
there are some traces of encre noire that seem to be the background but in the front there is quite a bit of masculine woodiness, something fresh and green and obviously smoke all over it. i like it more than Útilykt though both have its uses. cant sniff that much at once otherwise im smelling less and less and getting anosmic to IES. if i had to give it a colour, it would be brown

Yes, you can always count on Eternity. I know my collection of Cool Water and Aspen and CK1 probably would seem lame, but those are the scents of my wild youth and I will always love them. And times I've taken a chance on new ones they disappoint.

Anyone here heard of Montage? This was years ago, but I got my hair cut at a salon and they finished me off with some pomade that smelled amazing. I bought more of it and they said it comes in cologne but I never did buy any. Everyone loved the way that smelled. I'm going to see if I can track it down. I've been surprised that everything I remember is still around. My mom had some lotion from the 90s and wanted me to find her more and sure enough they still make it in the same kind of jar and everything. Hope this will be the same.

Fuck, it's discontinued! And seeing the bottle I remember I DID have it. And it was so good. I guess they must have folded years ago. Some company offers to recreate old scents for about $100, but I doubt they really even know about this.

I guess it was only around for a little while and that's when I had it. Nothing on ebay or anywhere else.
>>
And Fragrance Revival calls it "a floral scent for women", which it wasn't. The don't know anything. They even make it sound like it's a lot of guessing and trial and error, and they'll keep tweaking it until the customer is happy.
I'm not an expert. I can't remember exactly how it should smell.

Found a reddit post about it too. Others feel the same as me. I guess it's been gone like 20 years already. Fuck! I'll never be happy again!!

Should I? Or should I email them and ask about the gender thing? I don't get how they can just offer a male, female, and unisex version of each fragrance. I guess it may have been kind of unisex, but they offer this service for anything, including ones that are names 'for men' or 'for women'. So I don't get that part at all.
Maybe someone who understands the science shit can tell me if you can just tweak something in either direction like that. Seems unlikely.
But also, some people here seem to have a deep catalogue of knowledge of old stuff, so if anyone remembers Montage by Graham Webb, speak up please.

Oof! Starting at $150. I don't love it that much. Thanks for posting that.
It's nice to know people loved it but it must be in that sad zone where it's just not popular enough to warrant a reissue.

So no one has had luck with the Fragrance Revival thing? Or is it just a gamble with a scent like this? Maybe it is worth $150. It'd last me the rest of my life even if I favored it over my others. Damn it. I saw those people on reddit starting to sweat that they were running low. It's just going to get more rare and expensive over time. Maybe I should get it while it's so "affordable". Should still be good as far as potency, right?
>>
>>18628530
You have to go for the $190 one if you are sure about it, the $150 is probably a scam so not worth it unless you lowball him like $90 and be ready to try to get your money back if it doesn't deliver. Otherwise just be patient and save the search in case another shows up. I know you never listen to reason but you'll be flushing your money down the drain at Fragrance Revival.

The enemy of fragrances is heat and light so keeping them cold would help preserve them but it's just not realistic, actually I do have more space in my fridge than my closet. I would do it if I bought my fragrances new but I have vintage fragrances that have probably been to hell so it might be too late for them. I'll think about it, at least the valuable ones.
>>
>>18628813
I was gifted Boss The Scent Magnetic at Xmas and I did enjoy wearing it at the weekend, rather than cakey it smells like burnt french toast, progresses to a dark and smokey nutty vibe, full on gourmand but not at all girly.
I also have Cool Water Night Dive which is semi gourmand minty nutty aqua which I rarely wear, powerful synthetic blue, very cloying.

Also have Valentino Uomo Ivory which has no gourmand notes at all but smells the tastiest out of all 3 weirdly, like I spilled Ben and Jerrys flavoured vape juice on myself, girly as fuck, the Donna Ivory is way more masculine

Escale en Indonesie is decent but doesn't last, airy Ambegris, citrus and jasmine, could work well for a summer rotation. Probably bottle worthy.

Escale en Haiti is a generic airy Vetiver, not good compared to other offerings out there eg. Sycomore.

a classic masterpiece, not as popular anymore so it’s the perfect time to wear it. Still have my 300ml bottle from years ago

people shit on it now because it's so successful it's become one of babby's first frags but when it first came out 1 million basically revolutionized the game. the forerunner of all of today's beast mode frags, you walked into a room in 2009 with 5 sprays of 1 million on your skin and it was like you were walking around with a 12 inch cock swinging from the front of your pants, you had gravity, an aura of inevitability. everything within a 6 foot radius was aware of your presence and you scentmogged all the acqua di gios and cool waters into olfactory oblivion

I want to say Y EDP but it has a specific sweetness that’s cloying in ultra hot weather. Maybe Y Intense or Parfum

Refunded like 5 bottles yesterday, got a fat stack of vouchers for it, zoomer girl wagies were nice and didn't ask questions. It was odd going into a perfume shop in blue collar setup amongst the typical buyers (fags and women).
Going to cop Sausage Elixir, Terre Hermes edt and maybe something else. Armani eau cedre smelled good, la nuit de l homme edt also.
Good thing I didn't blind buy Boss Bottled absolu it's very dense but 1-2 hours later it's like Dior homme intense.
Sprayed 6 on my hands on different spots, works so much better than using a paper strip.

I got a full discovery set, I'll try them all but I expected way more from Ambre Suprême.

SOTD: Musc des Sables
That's okay. It's a straightforward, clean, elegant musk with a powdery note. I usually hate orris but here it's fine.
The orris gives a lipsticky tone and this is a bit too feminine for me. I'll wear it again though, maybe my opinion will change.

Thanks for the review. Others had mentioned it's too feminine as well. Let us know how the Rose De Jamal is.

Day 4 of over-spraying Kouros. Sprayed the back of my Levi's jacket this morning aswell.

After about 6 hours when the lavender opening passes, which is I assume the note that people associate with bathrooms, what's left is an elegant and salty floral oakmoss base. And on day 4 my wooly jumper and now jacket have that distinctive floral dry down fairly well saturated in without the heavy opening present it is almost ysl L'homme adjacent in terms of the smoothness.

It has much more depth than the memes give it credit for, it's way more than an oldschool barbershop musky lavender bomb.

I bought it blind before Xmas based on reqs here, to replace Paco Rabbane Pour homme. All memes aside I am in love with this cologne so thanks based anon's.

This is all I've worn for years and years. It's so light and inoffensive that it's barely there and I don't end up smelling like an arab

i find that figs and salty frags work really well in the summer
Fico di Amalfi is the one i got, but Colonia and it's flankers are great. they are light, but i think it`s fine since you can douse yourself in it/respray or put something else later on in the day.
as for salty frags, Acqua di Sale and Blu di Mare are nioce. i own Bleu Turquoise from Armani which lasts really long. it's salty vanilla. if you're feeling bold, Megamare is also popular, but can be polarizing due to the seaweed note

I have an annoyingly thick head of hair actually.

I have also been using picrel in place of Vaseline to lock in the scent, its way better, and doesn't stain clothes like vaseline, Kouros doesn't really need it but it makes a noticeable difference to longevity.
Its a bit of an industry hack many of you office workers and homosexuals might not be aware of.

>>18629587
i don`t think the lavneder is what gives it that bathroom association. i always thought it was the aldehydes and maybe the coriander.
big fan of kouros myself. love to wear it in the swealtering summer heat. i think it mixes nicely with sweat. jeans are tank top are the perfect fit base to wear kouros with

maybe? i definitely don't get that with Tobacco Honey from Guerlain or Naxos where those notes are prominent

i agree with anon, you don't get it on naxos or male eixir or other super sweet fragrances, but something like coral fantasy DOES smell like toilet to me, it's more like tobacco and fruity or floral scents

Tuscan Leather is my all time favorite scent but I've hard Ombre Leather is basically the same thing but cheaper - any truth to that?
>>
>>18629997
Haven't smelled Ombre Leather but my issue with Tuscan Leather is the raspberry note takes too long to fade away, it can be 6 hours since I sprayed it and it's still there. I just love the leather scent more. I still love it though.

Rabanne frags are beloved by the everyman which means enthusiasts will never miss a chance to shit on them, this is one of the most pretentious "hobbies" out there
