>>18631098Nice omega
My Weekdater 6218-8971 arrived from Japan over Christmas and a NOS OEM crystal finally got here from Asia today. Time to replace the old beat to shit one.I wish someone made a sapphire replacement :(
>>18631555what it'll look like after:
>>18631558scratched up to shit when I got it:
I'm wearing this a lot. I love to hear the rotor spin. Sounds like casting a fishing line. I can whip my wrist and it'll spin a good while. Then the gears slow to a deep buzz. It's satisfying. And it feels so light.Great watch for under $100.

>modern Omega are shitt-ACK
This is kind of a neat release.Hand wound alarm movement, 36 and 39mm options, a bunch dial styles from very vintage to quite modern.I guess the reason no one talks about it is that it's microslop that's 3 times more expensive that the CW tier microslop people are used to.
Whisky time.
>>18631098That's a nice watch, how much is it?
>>18631765is it the milano cortina?
>>18631555>>18631558>>18631560Cool! Interesting you went for the gold cap one, they're not my cup of tea but i can see why some might like them. What do you plan on doing about the case? I would suggest you do not polish it at all, you will lose the sharp edges. How's it running?
>>18631804>microslopIs it? It's an old brand afaik, known for making these.
>>18631804>This is kind of a neat release. It's literally a 70 years old model that's been relaunched. And yes, it's overpriced for a frankenstein brand.Dead brand that has been revived by that french guy who also owns Nivada Grenchen and like 3 other brands at least. You can't command those kind of prices if you are not a legit luxury brand but a frankenstein quasi-luxury one.
>>18631987It's at my local watchmaker now for a disassembly, cleaning, oiling - I am just getting started with tinkering and while I have basic tools I don't have a press to set the crystal. It seemed to be holding time okay, he's going to put it on the timegraph for me when he's done.I went gold because I want to wear it with suits... and I don't plan on polishing it at all, want to keep those sharp lines. My hope is I can find another one in silver to mix it up though. Prices seem to be steep right now for 6218's.
>>18631765at least anon got to finish his sentence before having a heart attack
When I ordered my cocktail time I didn't even know these cool secret clasps existed. Just looked like a regular leather strap to me. On one hand it's super simple and fits perfectly and is very clever. But on the other hand it's kind of a ruse. It's like a clip-on necktie in that regard. I'm not complaining. It will last a lot longer as you're never really bending anything or dragging it through the clasp. Quite ingenious. I really feel I should have known every last detail of a watch that spendy before buying it though. Lousy research on my part.
You fags aren’t classy. Just cringe.
>>18632141And we don't care what a crumb like you thinks.
>>18632145>we
I have some quick questions. First, I love this watch but the small seconds is not aligned properly, in that it jumps at about 34 seconds and not right at 60. It should, right? The minute hand should advance to each indicator as the subdial reaches the top I'd think. Is this something my jeweler can realign easily by just adjusting it to match the main movement?Second, all mechanicals wind, right? Even a screwdown crown automatic that mainly benefits from the rotor will always be able to manual wind?Because a couple of these when you wind them there's no resistance and the "clicking" I guess is much finer. A couple I have without autos feel totally different when winding. You really know you're loading the spring. And third, is it a good thing when a rotor spins a lot on its own? Some of my more expensive ones don't stay spinning. A cheaper one you flick the wrist and RZZZZZZZ, it just goes for a while. And that seems like it'd be a sign it's well balanced and efficient. The others seem too heavy to catch like that. Is all this normal?Thank you.
>>18632147lol, yes actually. Who the fuck is going to admit to you that they're hurt and offended that some dickless incel popped in with a post as lame as >You fags aren't classy. Just cringe. That's the most cringe post I've seen all week. No one here has purported to be classy. Some of us revel in cringiness. You're out of your element. Best be movin' on.
>>18632151Ok loser
>>18632154We're still waiting for anyone to come in and disagree with me and announce that they do care what a crumb like you thinks. You're still here so I guess that's what you're waiting for. LOL, not going to happen. Your "burn" didn't land, bitchboy. Stick around and keep digging yourself deeper. It's the 4chan retard way.
Kofe time.
>>186321612024? I guess I thought you were taking these live when you drank coffee and it was just the same three watches over and over. It's the same actual fucking photos. Every board has this fucking guy. Embarrassing.
>>18631804>microslopThey went through the process of reverse-engineering their alarm movements from the 50s-60s so they could produce them again. At this point you're no longer in microbrand territory.
I just settled on this for my nephew's birthday. Got the PT5000 upgrade and what I thought was the best dial design and most neutral color for him. Glass caseback so he can see how it works. In an age of smart watches maybe he'll appreciate it as much as I would. 36mm makes it a good size for a starter watch. Hopefully by explaining that it never needs a battery he'll think it's cool. Maybe not. But if he doesn't want it I'll totally keep it. It's close to watches I already have but I like it a ton and would totally add it to the collection. I might pick up another couple Tandorios anyway. I almost got him a titanium but it didn't come with the better movement or the window. And this copper blasted finish looks great with the leather strap. Either way it's got good depth rating and he's around the water a lot. Just hit a new sale so the price dropped a few bucks plus I got another coupon. Totally happy to score all this for under $90.I'll explain to him that if he really likes this watch he can save up and get some name brand version of it instead of his first car. Get his sense of value off on the right track.
>>18632237Cool story until the car bit. Let that niglet buy his shitbox.
>>18632248First time posting from a phone?
There. Now we can see it. That's how it's done. Fucking idiot.
>>18632248Nice watch, are you ok with the cyclops? Nice lighter too.
>>18631555>>18631558>>18631560Here's the parts list PDF. Every part that is in light font is interchangeable with the 6206, so if you ever need those spare parts you can just buy a non-functioning 6206 for cheap off ebay.https://watchguy.co.uk/tmp/6218A-35j-Seikomatic-Weekdater.pdf
>>18632315 But you looked at this one. >>18632250Thank ME.
>>18632390My watchmaker offered to remove it, might ask him to do it if I ever need to send it in again. Thanks, it's alright but Dupont makes the better lighter. This is a Dunhill.
>>18632318thank you for this!
>>18632160
>>18632237Some kids get BMWs and a Rolex, this champ gets a Chinese shitter and a "lesson in value"What were you going to get him, a base model ford taurus?>SORRY JIMBO, THIS IS THE BEST WE CAN DO ON MY BENEFITS PLAN - LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE VIRTUES OF BEING A POOR LOSER
>>18632618You're welcome anon. It's a pretty decently documented movement, so a short search should always get you some results if you need anything, or you can just ask here. Post a pic every now and then, in the other thread. I hope you enjoy your Weekdater! I tried out my old Weekdater on a new strap today (i didn't set the time, so ignore that) and it looked good. I have to get it serviced soon and polish the crystal to make it even nicer.
>>18631098>what if the Calatrava 5296 had a sub second dial?It still looks good, what's the ref?
>>18632662Goolag Lens says CK 859 or 511.12.39.21.99.002. Around to 6k used, that's great price if you ask me.
>>18632664Fuck me, it's so pretty. i might actually save up for one.
>>18632664Thanks.
>>18632629>>18632247You both misunderstand. None of this has to do with a car or buying him a car. He's my nephew so it's not my job to get him a car. The JOKE was that someday when he's driving age he will be able to choose between an entire car to drive OR a stupid "name brand" watch that's as good as what I got him for less than $100. Always missing the point, you guys. Where you both got the idea that the watch was in lieu of the car or that I'm buying him a car ever is beyond me. I didn't write it in a confusing way. I should maybe take your brains into consideration and simplify next time if that was too complex to comprehend.
>>18632667Right. You are going to save up and buy a used Omega for $6K. That sounds totally likely.
>>18631098I bought a new Casio today
This one called to me today. I may buy an automatic version someday.
>>18632760What the FUCK?? Are you Bigfoot? Are you Arabian Robin Williams? That's UNREAL. That's gross. Shave yourself.

>>18632822gotem.gif
Just ordered this for $17.I'm pretty sure I won't run into anyone else who's wearing it. lolI'll post it when it gets here.
>>18633167I never ever post on this board, but I'll make an exception just to express my utter disgust.I was having a good fucking day. You ruined it.Happy for you though, friendo :)
Why are there so many watch threads, it feels pretty retarded.
>>18632648warm cup of diarhea
>>18633186You posted the same pic in both threads. You might be the retarded one.
>>18632648so when I bought it, it was listed as a 6218-8971The crystal I ordered was a T06 for an 8971My watchmaker couldn't set the crystal... we couldn't figure out why.Turns out the watch was listed wrong and it's the earlier 8970 and needs a T07.Thankfully the seiko parts guy I ordered the T06 one had a T07 in stock but I gotta wait another few weeks for it.But hey, it's really solid after a service and oiling on the time graph:
>>18632648also this pic is what convinced me I needed a 6218, so thanks for posting it.
>>18633181It's not that weird. It's worth the price of lunch to have I think.
Recommend a watch for $650.00 that represent a better value for money then Pokémon™ Lego™
uh you can ship a watch with batteries right? I'm pretty sure this old vintage seiko I wanted needs to be powered constantly or the module just dies but the owner is saying "they won't let me ship it with a battery inside of it."who is they?
>>18633473Take your gay, childish hobby somewhere else. I know you're being sarcastic as NO ONE would think that's a wise investment. But it still doesn't belong here in the watch thread.
>>18633481Most of my quartz watches came with a little plastic thing that keeps them from starting up. Maybe it's because of bombs. The "module just dies"? I don't think anything works like that. Maybe keeping your old Frogger score or something. A watch should be able to turn back on.
>>18633488So you can't name any? Go back to Skyrim you drug addict faggot
>>18633495lol, what? Sure I could name them. But you're not here to discuss watches, freak. You're here to announce that you like Legos and Pokemon like a virgin manchild. What is it with this website and strange "men" with their toys and defensive attitudes?
Ok brokie stay mad with the fake and gay chink shit
I am the King Shitter around here schlomo
>>18632824What division of the British armed forces were you in during WWII, schlomo?
>>18633167
>>18633388It's a bit complicated/murky with the reference numbers. The only practical difference is the supposedly the crystal and the tension ring that is needed to secure the chapter ring to the dial or something like that. The tension ring isn't needed on the 8971. The crystal is supposed to be the same, the only difference is that tension ring. T06 should fit, i think i've read about someone lese fitting it. Here's the catch the case might be a 8970 but the dial a newer, 8971 one, so sometimes it's not exactly clear which model you actually have. Read some more into it, i have to go to work. When was it produced btw?
Clown
>>18633473https://www.brickeconomy.com/
>>18633510Jesus christ... those are real? And there aren't any prices on the website and they make 250 of them a year, so we all know what that means. lol, they don't even seem popular enough to rip off. I'm happy with the $17 version whether it works or not. I'm not paying $17,000 or whatever it costs. lolWild fucking watches.
>>18633508I was in the 109th. What special education class were you in during high school, "scholomo"?
>>18633520Did you seriously buy a 100-dollar fake Seiko from China, thinking it was real, anon?
>>18633388Here's what mine looks like.>>18633389That's a 6206-8990 on the pic though.
>>18633589Forgot pic.
>>18633590You have some external thing you connect to your phone, right? I think it's always funny when they try to convince us things like a scale app will accurately work based on the sensors of the phone.
>>18633591Do you know just how powerful/sensitive phone mics are? If only you knew what you can hear with them...
>>18633481of course you can.
>>18633628Yes I know all about it. My flip phone isn't so advanced for better or worse.
>Buys a divers watch>never been diving>doesn't even live near the ocean>did it because some other retard on the internet said its worth it.
They want $260 for this on ebay. It's cool.
Are you all just running a watch resale hustle ring?
>>18633689I can't stop buying watches. I post the ones I buy and the ones I want to buy. I'm losing money here.
>>18633694I take it as a yes. Is this a scalper ring or something?
>>18633695No, it's a no. I'm not selling anything. I'm going to keep them all.
It's the only Tag I want but I want it so bad.
I'm gonna get this for $20. The real Tag is 39mm and all the replicas are like 42. This is smaller than the Specht and Stone and it's $70 cheaper. And it's half digital. But why the fuck not? I spent more than that on dinner.
>>18633722I love the design but.it wears so poorly. It’s huge and sits tall, like a brick. If TAG could build or source an ultra-thin movement for it, that would be great.
>>18633746Yeah, if some someone would make it at 37mm and 10mm thick it would be so sweet. I wouldn't even care that it's quartz. I just love the square panda and it has looked cool on TV and in movies. I know I couldn't pull it off as is.
This is a cool watch. It would be too big and it's $500, but I love the way it displays time.
Anyone own a Griffy? I think I want one.
What kind of moron would pay $40 for an unfinished hunk of shit like this?? "Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified"? What? And it has nothing at the 12. It's not even fucking finished.
Check out this fucking racket. Dude probably buys $7 shitters direct from China and then just cuts out a dial sized sticker he printed and voila, he's got a "cool retro movie pop art" wristwatch he can sell for 5 times what he paid. I can't imagine any movie shit I want on my watch dial. That shit seems so trashy.
