I hate to report this about one of my favorite watches, but it doesn't stay powered for shit. Doesn't seem to last even 24 hours, let alone the 42 you're supposed to get out of the Miyota 8215. If it was my actual daily at this point I wouldn't have noticed, but since winding all of my autos at once I noticed that the 2 8215s in that case both died before any others, and the Timex died first. I've taken it out and I'm going to test it on its own and see if I'm right. I don't know if there's anything to do if I'm right. I have the warranty, but I don't know if this would be covered. It keeps good time if you keep it powered. If my experiment shows that it dies only 16-20 hours after a full winding I'm going to have to do something though. Maybe that just means selling it. Just thought I'd share it with the community in case anyone was going to rush out and get one. I hope I'm wrong. It would be fucked up if my $30 Shanghai hand-winders have better power reserve than something like the e-line. Though since I never uncovered this complaint in my research before buying, it could be an isolated incident and I got a shitty one in need of some servicing. That's what warranties are for.

Making something with this many small, moving parts that resists shock and moisture for as long as people expect to watch to go between service is a pretty amazing feat, for what it is. If you don't want to overpay for top tier engineering, definitely stick with brands like Longines or Tudor if you want the maximum engineering per dollar.

And the soft leather straps they come on are some of the best I've seen. After pairing that watch with the tweed, I put its leather on my Presage and now I like it way more. The shiny Seiko strap with the cool release was nice and maybe complimented it better, but I'm happier with this one. I'll wear this watch more now. I had no idea how much difference the strap can make. Now I'm all into finding cool kinds of straps. I might even try making some.
