Then I'm not interested in what you have to say about horology. Or anything else really.

There are people out there who buy upscale Swatch, even double-upscale Swatch, and see no problem with it.
Same with Seiko.
A most curious phenomenon.

Just buy watches in your budget you enjoy.
Buy them for yourselves, not to flex or for admiration of others.
This way you will be happy with every purchase.
Collections are personal and you yourself have a story or reason for every purchase, or a memory tied to each unique piece.

One good indicator that a brand is losing its way is when they start doing fucking TOURBILLONS out of nowhere. I'm talking about brands known for their tool/everyday watches, like IWC, Omega and Zenith (all 3 of them have fallen for the tourbillon meme), with no real history of high horology.

It's the kind of marketing decision that cheapens the brand (a tourbillon means jack shit these days, considering even the chinks know how to industrialize them) and shows both incredible arrogance and lack of confidence in your own products.

The reason why I'll always respect Rolex is because they know their place in the industry. You'll never see a Datejust Tourbillon or a Submariner minute repeater.

Seriously. Look at picrel and tell me it doesn't look utterly stupid. What the fuck are these brands even thinking?

However Dynapulse is flop
- Zenith can do 5 Hz with silicon Swiss lever so Rolex didn't have to "invent" new gears
- Co-axial, Natural and Detent escapements can be done with traditional materials, while Rolex's coral reefs can only be done in silicon
Even if you'd say
> Dynapulse is 25% more power draw without losing 25% power reserve on the same barrel
There's stronger mainspring or two of them for such purposes
Rolex to has admitted that they've lost to Co-Axial
And I'm not even Omega fanboy or something
They're also late to the party with display case back

The real question is if you have watches that justify using winders. Unless you have mechanical full calendar watches and old vintage watches with no quickset for the date that are a pain to set every tike you get to them in your rotation, you probably don't really need winders.

> The military reason put forward by Kennedy is known in the military sciences as “the strategic depth” necessary for the defense of a country, a case that was not given by the proximity of Cuba with Miami (90 miles). It is the same reason that forced Putin to carry out the specific military operation in Ukraine, because the requested integration of the failed state Ukraine NATO; the military aggression against Donbass and Luhansk after the 2014 Euromaidan colour counter-revolution; the discrimination and repression of the 8 million Russian citizens and the systematic sabotage of the Minsk Agreements of the same year; the growing weight of neo-Nazi tendencies and forces and the intense deployment of imperialist weapons and trainers, generated a strategic threat to Russia’s national security, which no responsible Russian president could ignore. Because it affected a military concept of life and death for the defense of the nation: “the strategic depth” of Russian space that had saved the country in the invasions of Napoleon and Hitler. Strictly speaking, the same war argument that Kennedy used in his naval blockade of Cuba.
> In short: Putin’s “special military operation” to defend the people of Donbass from an imminent general offensive by the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev — which has claimed 13,000 lives in the region since the 2014 Color Revolution, the lumpen-oligarchic coup d’état funded with $5 billion dollars from Washington (Victoria Nuland dixit) — not only is it fully justified in international law by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, but it is fully consistent with the military praxis and doctrine of the legitimate self-defense of States in the face of an imminent threat emanating from a neighboring State or enemy forces.

Awesome. I can't wait to hear how you never wear it for fear of scratching it and how you're trying to offload it to some sucker because you've got buyer's remorse.

Let me try:

>I bought it thinking anyone would care. No one did.
>It's really big and doesn't fit my little girl wrists, even though it's the littlest model they sell
>It was really expensive, even though it looks cheap.
>I'm terrified to wear it out because if I scratch it, I've demolished its resale value. I'm trying to sell it but, for some reason, no one is confident buying a second-hand watch from a Turk.
>I'm really interested in buying a Credor Locomotive, because I'm sure THIS will be the watch that gets /wt/ to call me based.

Also if you are referring to politics please read all of this here >>18694449

Putin and Trump are friends. The aggressors in Europe today are the Kiev bandits who can’t accept that it is perfectly legitimate and democratic for their border regions to secede from them.

option 1 this Omega as another entry luxury but light dial

Also this is getting really far from the original point since I just wanted to post Kim’s IWC and his daughter’s Cartier when I first posted those pics. That is legit a hotter watch combo/ overall fits on both of them then on most national leaders in the west.

Vintage seamaster mogs. I've been looking for one myself but it's really hard to find a clean one that wasn't assembled from a mishmash of parts by brown south americans or with a repainted dial. Then you gotta factor in the price of a service, and the potential that it was molested by an inexperienced hobbyist.

Thank you, friend. I will be honest though. I was extremely disappointed when I got it back and he told me he couldn’t fix it up again and get it working. I was really really hoping he could get it to work again and look like it did back in 1970.
>>
It is like buying a 1960s Maserati or Ferrari and learning the engine will never work again. It is still cool to have but it wasn’t what I was hoping for.
>>
>>18694643
Figure out what caliber your watch uses, you might be able to source a cheap donor movement to swap in. Some of the 70's models used an ETA movement which would be easy and cheap to source.
>>
>>18694643
>>18694655
Here, I'm feeling nice today so I'll help you out. https://calibercorner.com/eta-caliber-2512-1/
This is the movement your watch uses. If you buy a replacement, it wouldn't have the Cartier stamp on it, but functionally its the same. That hurts the collector value/authenticity, but your watch is completely broken and beat to hell so fuck it. Go get one on ebay and have a watchmaker switch out the guts and you'll have a running watch again.

go to an actual watchmaker, not to the jeweller who glued it together. regarding the rest of the issues:
>strap: get one that fits the lug width, this 1mm gap makes it look cheap
>case: could be polished maybe, but if I remember correctly you said that this one is not solid gold, so not sure about polishing
>glass: could be replaced/cleaned?

Does patina, once it develops, stay the same forever? I've had this watch for 5 years now and i don't think i've noticed a change on the dial. It probably depends on the kinds of patina, but generally once it's stabilized and/or the moisture/UV light goes away, does it stop?
>>
>>18694757
So you are genuinely retarded. Thanks for claryfing once and for all.
>>
>>18694761
My brother in Christ, you need to cease your hateful ways and accept the light into your heart.
Spread positivity and joy around you.
>>
>>18694757
No, patina is oxidation. It does not stop. You can slow it down by protecting the watch (servicing it with fresh gaskets) but it is a permanent process.
It’s slow enough that you don’t notice it happening but take a look at two pics taken ten years apart and you will notice it.
>>
>>18694763
If you start to deoxidise it, will it return back to factory new?
>>
>>18694770
No. Oxidation is the material itself decomposing. You can try to remove it very gently, but you’re still removing material. There is no way to get it back to factory new without replacing the dial altogether.
>>
>>18694763
>>18694770
>>18694773
does poo halt oxidation? wouldn't it contain the metal in an oxygen-free environment?
>>
>>18693616
People who say "horology" like it's some kind of secret gatekeeper word inevitably have babby tier understanding and appreciation of watches, you probably watch the urban gentry
>>
>>18694812
What are the tiers of appreciating and understanding watches, according to you?
>>
>>18694773
>Oxidation is the material itself decomposing
It's a nigger tier description of the process. A patina is just a surface layer of the material reacting to random substances it gets exposed to. If it doesn't ruin the look it would be wiser to leave it intact.
I got a bronze field watch and I want it to grow the metal moss all over the case. Until it looks like an ancient artifact recovered from the Aegean Sea.
>>
>>18694813
the more you care the lower the tier
>>
>>18694663
I think at this point, it would be worth more than that watch is worth. Plated cases cannot be polished either. That gold plating is incredibly thin. It is what it is.

Anon should take the L and keep his Tank if he likes it, but he’d save money buying another functional Tank versus trying to repair his current one.
