Should I blind buy Fantomas?
>>18701346yes, you will like it if you like at least some Nasomatto frags and don't hate cashmeran
thoughts for summer?
>>18701352Only cashmeran I've ever smelled was in Dior Homme 2020 and I have never tried anything by Alessandro Gualtieri. I just want a daily, niche fragrance that projects nicely and is weird as fuck but in the interestingly pleasant rather than the "damn this smells like shit" senseOpen to other suggestions of course but Fantomas seems to have a nice vibe from the notes
>>18701346I rarely wear it because it easily rubs off on clothes, sheets etc and can survive a wash. It smells pretty good imo but it just contaminates my space in a way no other frag does
>>18701355buy iti mean, what could possibly go wrong?apart from this ofc: >>18701357
>>18701358I like frags that invade my whole space (when they smell interesting) so it should be nice. But actually I just ordered a few samples, pic related, so I'll just try it and buy it if I like it
>>18701361cheers
Should I buy L'Orpheline? I have a big sample of it and I like it. It smells like incense and cold stone.
>>18701363>Should I buy L'Orpheline? I have a big sample of it and I like it.yes
>>18701355The only cashmeran I have is Dans Tes Bras and it's one of my favorite fragrances. It works for almost any situation and while it's powdery and fresh it's never dull or boring. I have a hard time sometimes because I just want to keep wearing it but I have other fragrances that need to be worn.
>>18701368Damn I've actually never tried FM aside from Eau d'Hiver since it's my mom's perfumeMight need to sample a few
any of you lil niggas smelled this? im annick menardos no.1 fan but my local mecca doesn't have it yet and im not retarded enough to blind buy
>>18701370>annick menardos no.1 fan>not blind buyingfake fan
>>18701031Spinal Fluid, Ganymede. I haven't tried Fantomas or Silver Musk but maybe those as well. >>18701280Yes, one of my faves from Serge. Very austere and moody.>SOTD: Knize Ten. I've had this for a year or so now and only did "test wears" on a wrist to study it/enjoy it for myself. I did a proper wear today and I must say it's pretty easygoing. Fit was tailored casual, 10C and rainy.
masculine equivalent to glossier you?
>>18701390Another 13, I Don't Know What
>>18701391I'm pretty sick of iso super e but pear/ambrette sounds nice. I'll give another 13 a sniff next time I'm at the store, thanks
>>18701393you're welcome. alternatively, you can try Fleur de Peau and Molecule 2
I purchased 2 clones and I think they're pretty good tbqh
>>18701422they're not, I'm afraid
>>18701424um...wrong
wearing muskane today, rainy day on the couch with the missus. very nice tqbh
>>18701176>Whats the most niche fragrance you own? I have bottles from Hexennacht and Folkwinds. Requiem and Smokejumper/American Amber, respectively.Whats the one you wish you had?The first edition of Siberian Musk. It's true unobtanium and is probably destined to rot away in some rich autist's collection until the end of time.
SOTD: Bianchi's Black KnightSaw it reccd by an anon in one of the last few threads and copped a sample. Absolutely incredible scent profile. Rough and earthy leather with a very slight touch of sweetness to soften the blow of a metal gauntlet.
>>18701448niche gucci guilty absoluteIf its true guilty absu is getting discontinued this'll be the only option for that vibe
>>18701450You might be thinking of Dark Lord.
>>18701448based. I love bianchi but haven't actually sampled this one. I'm working through 30ml bottles of the lovers tale and under my skin first.
>>18701452Oh maybe
>>18701450heard guilty abs has had utter shite performance in the recent batches too, anyone here got an underperforming bottle?
>>18701474I have a sample with a batch code from 2017 and it lasts like 5 hours on paper. lmao if recent batches are even worse
>>18701459Planning on copping a few more bianchi samples, got Byz Amber as well as Black Knight and it's also pure kino (however I've already got Amber Sultan and Le Lion with a relatively similar scent profile). How's Under My Skin?
>>18701478heard its good. was going to blind buy it tbqh. i recall Tyger Tyger being a standout as well for me, but i ended up buying Veloptuous Oud
>>18701478Under my skin is less heavy/animalic than lovers tale (and I would assume black knight), while still delivering that buttery orris/leather thing that most bianchis seem to share. More aromatic opening, super pithy bitter grapefruit and pepper. Still pretty out there.
When a review on fragrantica has TdH bottle next to their avatar I know to ignore their opinion immediately.
>>18701448this stuff is dirty, but in a good way
Are all the arab houses just clones in ugly bottles? I keep getting tempted to blind buy them because they're cheap on Amazon
>>18701511Most.
>>18701474I think it gets miscontrued a bitIt has shite projection these days but the longevity is fine
Anyone out of curiosity ever check how old your batches are? Both my AS and Chergui are from the same production run
>>18701550Pic relCopped both online not long ago for a good price
>>18701550I use it all the time because I buy vintage but the repeating production numbers make it nearly useless so you have to rely on the bottle design.
It must be that time of the year…>New Tauer>New Nasomatto>New Bianchi>New ELDO>Already another fucking Myslf flankerRogue announcing Fiesole 1908No doubt plenty I missed
>>18701552>sycomoretastechad
What are your favorite summer fragrances?
>>18701751>ADG EDP>Allure Homme Sport>Neroli Intense>Beach Hut Man>Le Male EDT>Risvelium>Kouros
>>18701751>Nicolai shipment is still sitting in delivery hell AKA a France FedEx airportWell, I would be trying out everything listed in >>18696385 but existence is pain.
>>18701511What does it matter? Read what they are on fragrantica and get what you think you might like.Someone was asking about Rayhaan Aquatica 1-2 threads back. Got it two days ago for 23 euro shipped. Never found Virgin Island Water to sample, but this is an insane scent. Nothing sticks out as synthetic, except the coconut sticking around later on which feels a bit artificial. It's triply insane if you consider the price, that you can get something that smells THIS fucking good for this money.
>>18701751Acqua di Sale, Light Blue, Viking and Costa Azzurra EDP, in this order.
I really admire what Tauer did here creating a photorealistic hispanic bathroom scent for us to enjoy
>>18701855kek. I want to get into Tauer but everything seems to be "It's great" or "It's total dogshit" and they are talking about the same frag
>>18701863He has a few really good hits, but he’s running (honestly, ran, past tense) out of innovation. LADDM was fantastic, but took a real blow with the lillial/lyral ban. Still good but not -as- good. ACDD is good but rather derivative, and the newest flanker is a page straight out of any designer ‘milk it for every penny’ playbook. Depending on who you ask Incense Rose, LADAS, Lonestar, and maybe a couple others are… okay to good, but when you factor in his increasing price point they lose some of their luster. He’s worth sampling both for reference and because he was something of an influential name 10-15 years, but no longer a blind buy must have.
>>18701497>uses fragranticaabsolutely shit UI and site. Ads rendering ads rendering ads plus infinity.
>>18701873He reminds me of Rogue Perfumery in many ways. Made it big with one very influential fragrance, had a smattering of other lukewarm hits to keep him afloat, but is falling/fallen out of the limelight and coasting on past glory. I don’t know how big Tauer’s enterprise is in comparison to Rogue, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw Tauer do a back-catalog cull like Rogue did recently. I find it hard to believe it’s profitable for him to keep things like Phtaloblue or Cologne du Maghreb around.
>>18701873>He’s worth sampling both for reference and because he was something of an influential name 10-15 years, but no longer a blind buy must have.Who's the new Tauer in that regard?
>>18701910Off the top of my head I don’t think anyone has filled that vacuum at the moment. Fragrance in general has become a bit stagnant in the past few years. Love or hate him, Bisch is probably the most recent ‘big name’ in fragrance, but he doesn’t fit the criteria as a nose for hire, unlike a stand alone brand like Tauer is.
Did Black Afgano smell sweet to you guys? I tried it through a popular decanter and I guess I was just expecting something much more smokey. It was smokey at the start, but is now sweet/earthy to me. I also don't get the cannabis/baby-shit smells that people talk about at all.
what's a less plebeian version of Hugo Man? I like the smell but it's very common here and you can tell it's not the highest quality.
>>18701873I never really liked his fragrances all that much. To me it seemed like his entire allure was being a career PhD chemist who decided to try his hand at perfumery/art.>>18701877Rogue's entire shtick was honoring and reviving 70s and 80s powerhouses with modern methods and materials. Once he achieved that, his sales pitch fizzled out. I am interested to see what he does with his reserve series, though. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in an all-natural remix of his major releases like Mousse Illuminee, Bon Monsieur, etc.
>>18701918Is Nasomatto bad now too?>BischNone of his stuff really wowed me
This was exceedingly frustrating to find and not be an obvious counterfeit.
>>18701751>Mugler Cologne>Nicolai Week-end in Normandy>Nicolai Cap Neroli/Neroli Intense>Eau d'Hermes>Tauer LADAS>PdE Un Bel Amour d'Ete>Hermes H24 (EDT and Herbes Vives)>Hermes Eau de Basilic Pourpre>Dusita Erawan>Guerlain L'Homme Idéal Cologne Forte>>18701910PdE is the best current niche houseno contest>>18701919yes>>18701927you're not in Europe, right?
>>18701938I am not. I know it's very easy to find overseas, but you genuinely can't find it in NA without doing a lot of digging or deciding to chance some random on eBay who is both price gouging and/or has like 42 reputation. I got lucky and found a webstore that is legit and just had poor SEO that happened to have like three bottles left. Thank God for poor SEO. Truly the only way to find things sometimes.
>>18701942shit sucks and BdJ is fine but you could have just valuemaxxxxxxed and bought Zino instead
>>18701922>I never really liked his fragrances all that much.To each their own. I never had the chance to try the original LADDM, and I enjoy ACDD as well as Incense Rose, but I don’t think I feel the need to re-full bottle ACDD, or full bottle Incense Rose with my current collection. Nevertheless, LADDM was more than just a Swiss PhD’s novelty fragrance when it was first released. >Rogue's entire shtick was honoring and reviving 70s and 80s powerhousesTrue enough, but Mousse Illuminée is unique and well crafted enough to stand on its own aside from being a homage to a past era, hence his ability to stay afloat and spin out several other hits. I tested the Grand Cru and it is in fact quite excellent. The original still edges it out slightly for my specific tastes, but if I had to swap from it to the Grand Cru I wouldn’t be disappointed. Likewise curious to see how the Fiesole 1908 turns out. >>18701923>Is Nasomatto bad now too?I wouldn’t call it bad, but I don’t think he’s been super impactful either. His work is just rather interesting, avant-garde niche. Again, I could be wrong, perhaps it’s just me. >None of his stuff really wowed meAgain, that’s fine, but you can’t argue that the creations under his belt aren’t huge, impactful names. >Le Male Le Parfum>Ganymede>Bois Imperial>HermannPerhaps it’s just a numbers game, as he has plenty of nothingburger frags /shrug
>>18701944>could have just bought Zino insteadMy thoughts exactly
>>18701946>interesting, avant-garde nicheI guess I'm partial for that kind of stuff. But it's also easy to fall into meme territory like Toskovat so I'm not sure which avant garde houses are worth looking into at this point.>the creations under his belt aren’t huge, impactful names.Oh sure. Even if, as you say, he made a bunch of stuff nobody knows, he's still a big name nonetheless. But I don't think he's particularly innovative, is what I mean. Ganymede is fairly interesting but it's the only one of his that made me go "yeah this is good niche" (and I say this even though I actually dislike Ganymede as a scent)
>>18701950Nasomatto and Orto Parisi are the best avante-garde niche I've tried, mostly because the way they subvert the art is by elevating the base and profane rather than just trying to be weird. That sad, Spinal Fluid and Deity from Ataraxia were pretty good, but Spinal Fluid is just a direct ripoff from Toskovat and also suffers from the edgy note marketing. Have you tried anything from CdG? They seem to be well-positioned in the avant-garde side of niche.
>>18701346>>18701352>>18701357>>18701383I must be hypersensitive to synthetic musk because I found both Fantomas and Ganymede to basically be a thin coat of something more interesting and pleasant over a nauseating sweet muskThey really do completely saturate the room with lingering musk in a bad way. OTOH I like Cool Water, probably because that one mellows out very quickly
>>18701970I've tried a couple from CDG but they're usually a bit too airy and discreet for my tasteOne brand I've had my eye on is DS Durga, Steamed Rainbow especially, kinda tough to find a sample though
Is Loewe Esencia EDP good?
>>18702035yes
>>18701751Atm in no particular order (depends on the mood of the day)>Allure Homme Edition Blanche (quite possibly the most grabbed year on year, onto third bottle by now)>Acqua di Scandola>Dior Homme Sport & DH Cologne>L'eau d'Issey OG>Versace Man Eau Fraiche (that star fruit is incredible)>Bvlgari Man Wood Neroli>Dior The CachemireI've used Gris Dior on days where it isn't so hot, but I'd consider it more of a spring frag
>>18701876>what is adblock
>>18701919Got a decant some time ago. It's sweet with a slight funk to it. There is definitely some oud hiding in there so it gets the usual noselet 'oud smells like poo poo' stuff. Don't mind it myself but probs wouldn't cop a full bottle.
My Heretic discovery set came in today and honestly...i thought they were just a meme/insta-trendy brand but there's some good stuff here. >Black Salt - 9/10. Really really love this one. Opening reminds me of a salty margarita, with a woody undertone that becomes more pronounced as it wears down without losing that citrusy-ness. Will probably cop a full size, great summer fragrance >Cactus Abduction - 6/10. Even more citrus-heavy than Black Salt but without the deeper notes that balanced it, which is weird, since it has a vetiver base & those notes tend to pull on me. >Dirty Hinoki - 10/10. Absolutely getting a full size of this one. Rarely do forest or woods-y scents wear well on me but for some reason this does it. Very pine & lemony hinoki forward, slightly herbal, very rich base.>Poltergeist - ?/10. I had to get it since its so controversial...and the discourse is true lol. It's a pretty crazy scent, but oddly I don't hate it lol. It reminds me of that woody tar-like, burnt smell that lingers on your clothes when you sit near a campfire for too long. I could see it being good to layer with, but it's definitely a hard sell on its own.>Voodoo Lily - 7/10. Picked it kind of at random, so I didn't have much expectations to like this one but it's surprisingly nice. Very floral incense with a patchouli hit. There's a spiciness to it that can't quite place. A bit too feminine on me but I could see the appeal
Got my Supremacy Incense, I like it very much, thanks anon who replied to me last thread. Now I need to get a Interlude decant to really check if it's a decent clone, but I like it on it's own. Very green opening, the amber adds some sweetness to the dryness of the oregano and incense. Smells mature and powerful but also very soothing for autumn here in the south hemisphere.>>18701751D&G Light Blue and Zara Sunrise on the Red Sand Dunes. Would get Mandarino Di Sicilia if I could.>>18701919Yes it smells sweet and deep, very complex and mysterious but not difficult as people make it up to be. I'm never trusting people who hype up a frag to be smelly again because Black Afgano is the best frag I've ever tried so far. The cannabis thing is very abstract, pointing to the smokiness.

I am still upset over this. It's better than Aventus, but it has absolutely no staying power.
Should I buy Aventus?
>>18702163retard plus posted it again award
>love freshies and citrus scents>hate hot weatherfuck this gay earth
>>18701944>>18701948>if you like this light, clean and naturalistic fougere you could have bought this thick, dirty patchouli and vanilla heavy fougereHuh.
>>18702265if you smelled both of them, you would know that BdJ is a slightly fresher clone of Zino. and also a patchouli bomb
>>18702232Get Absolu instead desu
>>18702266>BdJ is a slightly fresher clone of Zino>BdJ is a patchouli bombI have smelled both of them and I know this not to be the case.Wherever your opinion comes from I understand you won't change it, but if anyone is (not) interested in BdJ because they (dis)like Zino, try it first rather than believing yet another /frag/ meme.
Found 100ml of Zadig & Voltaire this is him edt. I liked it a lot when I sampled, on skin and on strip.Any opinions?
>>18702324If you liked it a lot, you see yourself wearing it and you found a bottle for a reasonable price, my strong opinion is that you should buy it.SOTD: Dakar
>>18701855Something in it smells terrible to me.
>>18701863I have a sample of Le Maroc pour Elle and sprayed it last night and it was amazing. Really underrated. Une Rose de Kandahar and Incense Rosé are also really good. The desert series is nice but it really overshadows his amazing rose scents.
>>18701873>his increasing price pointHis prices went up because of tariffs, they went down again but not to what they were originally.
>>18701877He sells an insane amount of L'Air du Désert Marocain, it puts him above some minor designers. He takes his customer interaction very seriously so you see him posting regularly on social media about how he bottles his perfume. It's just him and one other, it looks like they have really good control of their manufacturing so they don't need to cull. The scale of everything except their best sellers is much smaller but follows the same process. If it's not something he can do on scale he makes it limited production.
