I do this all the time, it's ez pz. It's easier than finding legitimate modern stuff that gets faked all the time. Just shop the seller and know what legit and vintage bottles look like. Ebay has great return options and they are very friendly to buyers.

Went to Sephora to try Phlur Missing Person and it’s pretty cool actually.
It really does smell like the memory of someone. It smells like skin and cuddling. Just looking at the notes and reading reviews doesn’t do it justice.
I highly recommend trying it out if you get the chance.

I have the regular EdT, Profumo, Parfum, and a tiny sample of Profundo I haven't tried.

The original EdT is like a whisper. It smells nice and fresh and classic, but basically doesn't last more than an hour.
I haven't done enough to compare between the Parfum and Profumo, but I'd say that either are better than the EdT simply because you'll be getting better lasting performance and more interesting notes.

I'd take Sel d'Issey over the EdT if you want something aquatic.

As a borderline eldery gay who has done poppers once or twice in their time, this doesn't smell like it. But it does smell...nice? The opening note is listed as pomelo but I just get an orange creamsicle soda. Slightly fizzy and sharp. And dries down to an ambery, sweet musk. Might be the only good thing I've tried from Boy Smells although I hate their packaging with a burning passion.

Spraying a door seems weird to me but I see your intent. When I spray myself I can sometimes smell the fragrance in my studio when I come back in a few hours. Looks like a hot water bottle (menstrual cramp bag) with a giant clit on the end. On one hand, I appreciate the camp and Mod aesthetics, but at the same time, it also feels tryhard. The “atomizers” are horrible. They squirt and dribble down, no mist. At the price point of $70 for 50mL, you figure they could at least get that right.

I love the few old formulas I’ve tried and Woodphoria is my signature scent. The reformulated and new shit is both overpowering and underwhelming. The scents were turned into beast modes. Whatever they use to make the frags last for 24+ hours gives all of them all a lingering bug spray quality. They lost their niche nuances (could smell all the individual notes “dancing” with each other).

I thought Extraordinaire was much more mineralic and somewhat smoky compared to Sycomore, definitely more naturalistic.
Java is even more naturalistic, smokier, earthier, greener and such, and Sultan is even more naturalistic than that.
Compared to even Vetiver by Guerlain, Encre Noir is definitely on the cleaner, more abstract and tamer side of vetiver frags.

What frag do I get for the hot weather, something that gives chill vibes?
My current rotation is Acqua di Sale, Viking, Light Blue Discover Vulcano and Machrie.
Acqua di Sale is good but too heavy and dense.
Viking doesn't work well in high humid heat.
Light Blue DV is too sour and dry.

Costa Azzurra edp is great but doesn't last.

Green Crush from L'Atelier Parfumeur. I think it's reminiscent of You or Someone Like You from ELDO, but i find the prominent mint note very refreshing.

I also really like to wear Fico di Amalfi and Basilico & Fellini because they are very light and i enjoy the fig note. L'Eau d'Issey is also nice since it's a light citrus frag.

I appreciate it, here's a bit of a follow up then.
My fav chypre is Etruscan Water, but it's too sour for mostly anything.
I really enjoyed Light Blue Forever for the opening, but the rest I found unremarkable, and the grapefruit faded way too quickly for it to be worth it at this point with the discontinued tax.
I remember smelling another LB flanker that came out shortly after that was somewhat similar but had too much sage and not enough juicy citrus in it, was that Italian Love?
The closest thing I found to what I'm looking for here is Costa Azzurra edp, but it performs pretty badly, and the parfum is too dry-woody compared to it.
The reason why I'm looking for something to substitute, or go along with, the banger that is Acqua di Sale is that I find that to be too heavy and thick, the myrtle and seaweed and everything feel like fatty aromatic plants under the scorched sun, rich and aromatic but not especially fresh or juicy.
I've tried Sel Marin, Pacific Rock Moss and some other frags that are supposed to have a similar profile and have found all of them to be worse in every respect.
Viking is too herbal in a classic sort of way, I'm looking for something that feels more modern and interesting.
I like Eau d'Hiver because it feels cooling, but it's a dry herbal cooling rather than a juicy or rich herbal cooling.
My current cold weather rotation is Casbah, Ambre Nuit, TdH edt and Angelique Noire.
My goal here is to find a very hot weather frag that gives chill vibes, but I don't have a specific profile, family, style, dna, ..., in mind.

Nothing fucks my skin more than benzyl benzoate, which is in tons of cold weather frags. Gave me rashes that lasted for weeks. That's what caused me to change my habits and now I only spray my clothes instead of my skin regardless of ingredients, because let's be honest, none of the chemicals in frags are good for your skin.

Whenever I apply cologne after a shower it irritates my skin but if I wait until like an hour after I’m fine.

There are different poppers based on the chemical formulation. Like four or five different ones out there. And they tend to vary anyway even if it's the same chemical. I'd have to try Citrush Gold to see if it matches up to the real thing, but it's pretty obvious they are trying to copy one of the OGs with the name "CitRUSH". What's funny though is that modern Rush isn't the same company, but it tries to mimic the Rush from the 80's and 90's. People argue over how well it succeeds. Zoomers tend to do flavored poppers. They don't know how it is.

Unfortunately the difference between a note and an accord is starting to mean about as much as the difference between designer deemed EdT, EdP, Parfum, etc.

Originally, a note meant a singular scent, rose, for example, or vanilla. An accord was a scent made up of multiple notes, Guerlain’s mojito accord is a good example as it uses lime, mint, and some ‘alcoholic’ notes to mimic the scent and idea of a mojito. While it can be a contentious example, leather is also an accord, combining things like birch tar, occasionally animalic musks like castoreum, and a few other select materials, to mimic the scent of leather goods.

In reality though, at least for modern day fragrances, almost all ‘notes’ are made up of accords of different artificial materials. A single rose ‘note’ is often not made with real rose essential oils, but instead replicated with synthetically manufactured rose oxide, geraniol, and a selection of other floral isolates all made chemically. Vanilla or tonka notes aren’t made from extracting raw materials, you add chemically synthesized vanillin, coumarin, and trace amounts of ethyl maltol to boost sweetness.

Citruses are limonene, linalool, and a host of other chemicals in trace amounts.

They do this because artificial components are generally more consistent, more reliable, and cheaper to produce than harvesting the real thing. And on top of that, the public can’t tell the difference, hell, even plenty of frag heads won’t be able to tell the difference if there’s literally any effort put in.

Vintage Green 28 by Banana Republic. I suppose it depends on what you mean by herbal. Herbal to me leans “spice cabinet” whether that’s mint, basil, cumin or coriander. If you mean overtly green, maybe not this one, but it doesn’t have a “dirty” green smell. It’s clean like juiced carrots. The aquatic is not so literal/blue.

I live in Australia. Been going to my local Dior for years now and they even have a loyalty program where you reach certain levels and can collect gift sets, various goodies on your birthday, etc.

You get varied things like faux leather bound travel sprays (filled with Sauvage EdT), leather passport covers, various bags. All sorts of other complimentary things on top of samples.

So I wouldn't even consider buying outside Diors official boutiques for those reasons.

Almost half of notes in a perfume is a fantasy note. Hell, even amber is a fantasy note because it’s a rock from a tree sap. It’s just used to symbolize balsamic sweet scents because it looks warm.

EDP is similar to EDT but sweeter and thicker, while the EDT is airier and more transparent which I prefer. fresher and better for summer too
Herbes Vives is a little different and smells like it would fit in the Jardin line maybe. less of the weird futuristic synthetic metal air and more straight up green and fresh

I actually just bought the EDT in this gift set with a mini and some cream. Can't say I care about the cream much, but it was discounted and same price as just the bottle

After years of sampling and diving deep into the world of niche perfumery I have come to the conclusion that ~99% of niche perfumery is just not that good. Say about designer perfumery what you want but they mostly just work. Niche perfumery usually doesn't smell as nice as designers and also doesn't last as long. The only category where they trump designers is when it comes to creativity and standing out by smelling different, even if that difference simply means straight up worse than most designer alternatives.

It has nothing to do with the physical aspect of your nose, it has to do with your receptors. When I get poor sleep, which I usually do, my nose feels dull and can't pick up nuances. Your nose also gets tired through the day. In the morning you can smell everything but by night time some of the more subtle stuff becomes less noticeable. It's complicated. In general I don't usually see a point in buying clones unless there is a scent you really love and really can't afford that happens to have a very good clone.
There are plenty of great original fragrances that are cheap, expensive brands don't have a monopoly on good perfumers. You can also buy from greymarket discounters for much cheaper prices, I would usually expect a Prada frag to cost 50$ from those sites, not 150 unless it's some premium line.

Clones can vary wildly in quality and there is a lot of overhyping in the clone community. A lot of dumb people who think they're saving money by blindbuying 50 bottles of garbage. Why go for that when you can just buy Encre Noire or Jaipur Homme or some other great original cheapie?
