Lighter frags like freshies with lots of citrus or florals degrade much faster because those molecules are much smaller with a simpler structure and are therefore more volatile and also chemically more vulnerable to oxidation.So just spray the freshies fast and loose. But also store all your frags in a dark place like a drawer. And definitely not in your bathroom cabinet. The wildly fluctuating temperatures and the humidity work against your frags' longevity.

Incense, burning wood, and cypress/pine oil smell. It smells like camping in a California forrest (or the Pacific Midwest; haven’t been couldn’t say). There’s something very ambery and elegant about this fragrance, it reminds me of a man in a suit BUT it is of course Maison Alhambra (Lattafa), so there is some synthetic-ness there too. There’s unlisted floral notes that kind of go campground bathroom (soaps and cleaners) which could have been better blended or just not included. This is VERY smoky, it also smells like our grey, ashy skies during a wildfire. Definitely an acquired taste. Not a safe blind buy (but for $11, maybe it is).

Decants arrived so I gave this a try despite not being a fan of dupe houses since they're usually hyped up(looking at you Armaf, still hate myself for buying CdNI, what a disappointment). Afnan is growing on me, I have Supremacy Incense but was still skeptical about it but boy does it deliver. Great frag, balance of pineapple and woods with musk is well done. It does give me mild anosmia if I start sniffing my arm like a retard but if I catch a whiff off the air it's very pleasing. Drydown reminds me of Ultramale for some reason, I think the fruits with oakmoss register a bit like pear and cardamom. The drydown or CdNIM needs to be studied in a lab or something. How you can go from the worst opening in fragrance to pure sex in the span of an hour is nothing short of a miracle.
Vetiver Veritas is pretty good, somewhat naturalistic but not nearly as barnyard-like as Sultan Vetiver, this is still very green but in a more aromatic sense, instead of roots and leaves it has mint, sage and such.I thought I wouldn't find a vetiver better than Sycomore, but this might be it, and now I'm curious about trying Vetiver Royal Bourbon form Oriza Legrand and Vetiver Bourbon by PdE.On a somewhat related note, the more time passes the harder I find to buy a full bottle of anything, since I always get this feeling that there's surely another frag that does the same thing better, I just haven't tried it out yet.

I figured out why I couldn't make my mind up on Oud Rosewood, it's a night time, elegant scent. Sure there are lot of scents like that but they are more forgiving. I did give Oud Rosewood a try in casual settings and it's not bad but it doesn't shine. When it's a night time event it will really be in its element. That makes it less likely for me to wear it since I usually wear stuff to the office even if I would wear almost anything to the office in moderation. I have worn it to the office but again it struggles.

Does anyone have an “older” collection of Arabian fragrances. I have some Lattafas that are only two years old and the top notes are gone. Properly stored in the dark under my bed. Now it only resembles La Belle and a really chemical one at that. I understand tastes change, I don’t think it’s that. This might be the most authentic and realistic marine frag I have ever smelled. It's almost disturbing how real this seems. It doesn't hide the rawness of the ocean or convey a diluted or whitewashed side of it. If you expect a clean watery scent with maybe a hint of salt and some green in it then don't even try it. I don't even know yet if I like wearing it. It might be too close to reality for me. But it's certainly a very interesting fragrance.
