Is there any difference in terms of cardio in incline walking vs traditional running?

I fucked up my ankle and can’t really run without pain but incline walking doesn’t seem to bother it too much. During my runs, I’m between 160-170bpm and do about the same on the treadmill so it’s all the same right?

STOP HOLDING THE HANDLE BARS WHAT THR FUCK. YOURE LOSING 90% OF WHATEVER CARDIO BY SUPPORTING YOUR BODYWEIGHT WITH YOUR ARMS BASICALLY NEGATING THE CALORIE TRACKER TURNING YOUR 400 CALORIE BURNED WALK INTO A MEASILY 40 CALOROES

Cardio is just maintaining a high rate of gas exchange. Heart rate is a decent proxy for that. It's different in the sense that you can't train running by incline walking.

How decent? Eg - going from 60 bpm to 80 bpm, what kind of impact would that have on my energy expenditure?

It's pretty linear most of the time
