Hi, /fit/fags. Today was the first day of an office weight loss competition for me and I have a question about one of my methods. I’ve heard Joe Rogan and various influencers say how good sauna sessions and ice baths are great for you. I don’t have the ability to do either but I was wondering if a hot bath (~112° F for 15 minutes) immediately followed by a “cold” shower (temperature based on outside ambient temperature so probably ~70°F) would be anywhere near equivalent or am I just needlessly torturing myself like Jocko? Thanks in advance :)

Yes

Really? Should I just stop altogether then?

It's good for overall health to force the body to fight against changing temperatures from time to time, like getting hot during exercise or an occasional ice bath, but it won't do anything for your weight loss goals. If weight loss is the only goal, then it's useless and you don't have to do it. You'd be better served by taking the stress you're putting on your body and doing more cardio or preserving willpower for keeping your calories low
