>back squat day: able to hit 325 for 6 reps
>2nd back squat day: only get 1 rep

what causes strength to fluctuate so hard?

For me, I feel like my diet the day of/before and my sleep quality the night before factor heavily into the outcome of my workout that day.

If you've been really pushing it lately you might just be running low on energy.
Or you could just have a mild illness. My last squat day I was having issues breathing through my nose and couldn't really get my core into it either, I lifted the same weight (325) but after 4 reps it felt like my head was about to explode and I felt like shit for the rest of the workout
Or you just had a random shitty day.
