What if I stopped benching and only did ohp?
>>
bigger shoulders
smaller mid and lower chest
>>
You’d develop different muscles

you'd go out with small pecs, as the Targaryens did
>>
>>75368205
Dont do that, it makes mustard gas
>>
>>75368205
i do this i can ohp 70% body mass
>>
>>75368211
Targaryens aren’t boobie builders
>>
>>75368205
You won't build as much chest
>>
you will only fuck up ur spine and neck since ohp is a meme lift
>>
>>75368205
It would be painful
>>
>>75368205
You'd be a bodybuilder from 1900. If you did it a lot that is.
>>
>>75368205
just do incline bench press or dips if you dont like flat bench
>>
>>75368267
the most fucked up thing is ohp doesnt even improve ohp much. behind neck or dumbbell press improve it mich faster than ohp itself (loaded at streched position)
>>
>>75369248
This makes no sense
>>
>>75368211

Those are Lannisters
>>
>>75369446
The others are better at building lateral delts. I think it's correct, though you prob need a little practice with regular ohp to excel.
>>
>>75368205
why not hand stand pushups?
u can start by leaning feet on a wall
>>
>>75369462
Since the triceps is the strongest muscle used in the lift, i thought anything that builds triceps will help the most.
Like close grip bench, weighted dips, JM press, even Incline Bench.
>>
>>75369462
yep. ohp to build skill, better shoulder presses to build muscle. its kinda similar with powerlifting bencg and "accesories"
>>
>>75369516
Is it? The hard part of the lift is when the tricep is in a really shitty position for applying force.
>>
>>75369516
The hardest part of the lift is usually when the bar passes eyebrow level, and i think its mostly triceps after that, of course the delts help as well but they are much weaker compared to the triceps.

if u push on opposite hip spike from the front (push down and back) with shoulder protracted and internally rotated (elbow in front of u) u will isolate pectoralis major with muscle fibers straight between origin and attachment
>that's awkward though
that's why i stand over chair and push on it with one hand between my legs

with bench shoulders must be retracted which wraps pectoralis muscle around ribcage
you know what is the reason for stalled reps in bench? like it goes from the bottom a little but then suddenly gets too heavy to push to lockoff? as barbell goes up elbows go up and muscle fibers of pecs start to unwrap from ribcage which creates slack in the muscle
thats the bench hole, no there is nothing that salvages this movement for pec development, no angle, no implement, nothing, bench, like ohp is fucking retarded injurious nonsense

>if u push on opposite hip spike from the front (push down and back) with shoulder protracted and internally rotated (elbow in front of u)
think cross-drawing revolver but u gotta push on it first so elbow out in front of u - not yet sure about clavicular head but it gets entirety of sternal head right to teeth on sternum pec makes when it grows there, awesome static hold
>>
>>75368205
You would have small pecs and oversized front delts, which will look weird compared to your side and rear delt
>>
>>75369456
bring me the breast plate stretcher
>>
>>75369238
Elaborate
>>
>>75368240
That's really not impressive, anon
>>
>>75370075
i don't do this and i am certain i can ohp over 100% >>75369721

They didn't do a lot of chest work in the early days, it was heavily focused on lifting things high off the ground.

Without looking it up the bench press wasn't invented until like the 40s.
>>
>>75370226
It’s time to stop training chest!

bench does fuck your pecs up, ask me how i know :D

you would grow a muscle that actually matters, is more functional , more aesthetic, more based

shoulders > chest , always
>>
>>75368205
Youd be based
>>
I FUCKING LOVE OHP, IM GONNA FUCKING OHP TONIGHT
>>
Can OHP make your shoulders wider?
>>
>>75373831
yeah. dumbbell best, one at a time when heavy
>>
>>75373847
Best grip to use?
>>
>>75373851
The most neutral, do the movement without weights and see what position your hand goes to.

Don't rotate it when lifting though, needless risk of torquing joints.
>>
>>75368205
The issue with benching is scapula movement is limited by the bench, you could compound OHP with Dips and deficit pushups as a finisher and you would get a bigger chest and healthier rotators.
>>
>>75373927
Retract them beforehand so they don't have to move.
>>
>>75373931
That doesn't fix the problem friend, because they are not supposed to be retracted against a bench. You have to move them, this is why people get fucked up shoulders. First they don't retract them, then they do retract them and do correct form, until the weight is too much and they get fucked nonetheless.
