Recently turned 44 and basically this is my body. Been overweight all my life but have been fitter than this before and lost weight and kept it off. This was when I was younger and in my late 30s I had some stuff happen that made me give up on life and just wallow in self pity, now I'm sick of eating shit and no longer having any strength and feeling tired etc. After all these years I'm getting my mental motivation back but at this size and age is it physically possible to get in a decent shape?
>>
>>75464897
yes it’s possible now put down the fork and lift some weights
>>
yes of course. don't expect to become an adonis, but you can absolutely lose weight and improve various aspects of your health.
>>
Friendly reminder that FOMO is a psyop utilized mostly by marketing in order to sell crap, but it has seeped into other areas. Start lifting, gramps
>>
it il requires long term discipline age commitment. you need to be able to program yourself at this single moment in time to commit to a particular set of behaviours for at least 2 full years straight into the future.
>>
If/When you lose weight, do you have money to pay for excess skin removal? If yes then yes do it, if not then embrace the fatness you will look worse with the excess skin. Better to just stay fat if you are poor.
>>
>>75464897
Quit whining and go for a walk
>>
>>75464897
>After all these years I'm getting my mental motivation back but at this size and age is it physically possible to get in a decent shape

of course, why wouldn't it? it may be a bit harder than when you were younger, but it's always possible. i'm 34 and just lost 35kg this year
>>
>>75465269
Plenty of money for shit like that. Besides I understand this would be a couple of years work at least so it wouldn't be hard to save for it.
>>
>>75464897
>44
Lmao what the fuck

Kys
>>
>>75465269
>Better to just stay fat
no. exercise is fun and sociable. improving cardiovascular health pays dividends to your overall health, longevity, energy levels, ability to do things etc. loose skin is a problem when you lose lots of weight fast, a fatty can see HUGE improvements in their quality of life just by losing a third or half of their fat - and at that point loose skin won't be anything to worry about.
>>
>>75465283
Probably because I'm a lot more physically tired than I was 10 yrs ago. I have a physical job and I spend most of my working day on my feet anyway so I should probably be more naturally fit than I am but I'm actually feeling like I have less muscle and strength every day. I have a shite diet though, but my work colleague eats more and does the same work but is a lot stronger. Things like that ruin the motivation.
>>
>>75465310
This is just a shitty attitude. You'll get old and you'll see things differently. Op is trying to better himself, you're just a tool.
>>
>>75465329
My weight loss was at least 80% diet. Try fasting and count calories afterwards, that's what did it for me
>>
>>75465369
What was your start and end weight?
>>
>>75464897
>After all these years I'm getting my mental motivation back but at this size and age is it physically possible to get in a decent shape?
Yes. I did it myself and I'm a similar age to you. It all starts with losing the weight.

>at this size and age is it physically possible to get in a decent shape?
Of course it is.
What the fuck is wrong with you people, some of you seem to believe that once you hit a certain age you're forbidden to enjoy or even live life.
Imagine the state of the world if every human thought the way you do. What if Einstein was like
>yeah idk about relativity...i'm an oldfag now at 30, it's literally so over for me. better keep wageslaving. it's oooover
Or Planck. He came up with quantum theory at 43.

Most of you faggots really die at 20 and are buried at 70. Just shut the fuck up man. Get up and start small. Start doing something. Wake up in the morning and do a pushup. If you can't, do some stretching. Start eating better. Start going to the gym once or twice a week. Take better care of yourself. Of your body and your mind.
The fact that you didn't do it in 44 years doesn't mean you're never supposed to do it. You're not in a prison, you're not forbidden from doing stuff just because you're 44 or 50 or 30. Try and love yourself, and understand that loving yourself doesn't mean mindlessly satisfying every animal instinct and desire. Do things "tomorrow you" will be grateful for.

Fucking hell why am I even engaging, this is probably bait anyways. But it's still true. So many of you are prisoners of your convictions and wiring mechanisms. And this website and its culture has completely broken you. You're slaves to memes. Being exposed to internet spam for a few years was all it took to ruin you. You click every blackpill and demoralization thread and you wallow in decadence.

Sure buddy. It's joever. You've lived like shit for so long. Might as well keep on living like that. Lol.
>>
>>75464897
It's never too late
>>75465034
You can even do this if you work hard enough, take the right supplements, and get the skincare removal you'll most likely need.
>>
>>75465269
You can finance skin removal. The payments are cheap as fuck.
>>
>>75464897
The only time it is arguably too late is when you have a terminal illness and attempted treatment would significantly impact your quality of life in the little time you have left.

Easiest way for me was tracking my calories off labels, batch making my lunch and breakfast for the week to make hitting calories and protein easy. Eat at a calorie deficit based off what the calculator gives you. 16/8 intermittent fasting while following the couch to 5k program during your fast will melt lbs off, just make sure you're getting enough protein and electrolytes so you don't lose all your muscle and cramp like a motherfucker. I dropped 80 lbs in six months, you will feel tired all the time till you get where you want and start maintaining.

Avoid sugar and alcohol best you can cause they wreck your testosterone.

Fish oil, collagen and vitamin B complex worthy supplements. If you deficient in B you will feel a difference. Fish oil and collagen for older joints, I'm 32 with arthritis so I know about that middle age shit.
>>
All encouraging. Helping me light a fire under my ass and put some effort back into life.
>>
>>75464897
Scheduling yourself for jogging will not work, because jogging is not fun unless you are already physically competent.
Recommend you engage in cardio activity that is enjoyable. You're so fat you can likely barely walk, so something easy like disc golf or birdwatching, just get your fat ass up and moving for a couple hours. But it has to be a fun activity, to distract your mind. You got this.
>>
>>75464897
It's not to late fren.
Weight loss and management is a lifetime journey.
If you can stand up out of a chair you are winning.
Cut calories. If you can't figure that out, just cut your portions and eating frequency.
I was 330 for a few years despite walking and riding my mtb, hiking 4 miles daily. I didn't feel so extremely fat because I have alot of muscle from heavy ranch work and hiking.
I worked as a driver and all my shit came down from being behind a wheel 12 or more hours a day for years. Out of shape, almost died from undiagnosed type 2 diabetes.
Company died. I met with a dietitian at hospital. Changed my diet no carbs, start walking again.
A year and half later I was no longer diabetic, in shape more, lost 35 pounds in a year. And still going down.
Diet and exercise. That's it
>>
>>75465269
who cares, if you haven't found a wife by 40s you aren't going to anyway
>>
>>75465405
Start weight was 130 in april, 128 in june, now i'm at 92/93kg.

I started by fasting for 8 days and counting calories after that, going for a 6-900 deficite. Lost most of the weight, a lot of it muscle though, this way. Then i slowed it down, eating a bit more, but also started jogging, now i jog 15-20km a week

I mostly eat vegetables, black bread, cottage cheese and tuna, lots of potatoes, no meat. My diet isn't very varied, that's basically all i eat. Sometimes also a little fruit but that's it

Oh and i also eat a lot of these, like two to four wheels a day, one wheel is 50g. 30g of protein and 120 calories per 100g.

Most central european countries have their own version, i'm not sure of it's available anywhere else in the world, i doubt it. It's called Harzer or Handkäse in German
>>
>>75466269
Is it cheese? That's what Google is giving me.
>>
>>75466340
>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harzer
yeah it's cheese. very strong smell and taste, people usually either hate or love it. most people hate it. due to the high protein and low fat they're trying to market it to younger customers for a few years now, but it's mostly old people that eat it

Eating properly - no shit and not too much will help as will lifting a few weights and walking.
But you should be realistic.
You won't be able to put on a ton of muscle - unless you had a ton of muscle when you were younger.
Pic is me about 15 years apart. Now 56 (between these times I put on a ton of fat and stopped lifting.)
>>
All i did was by a food scale, weigh my portions (i ignored butter/sauces/oil, but tried to keep them at a minimum), and used the free search/track features in the myfitnesspal app. Lost 100lbs over two years. First month sucked, but after that it was easy. Three months in and my taste buds totally changed. Lots of stuff i used to ham out on was then way too sweet/salty. Now i can't even tolerate fast food, i make remarks about how sweet carrots are, and steamed broccoli with a dash of salt goes with every protein. I'm still 235lbs, but hell of a lot better now than where i was
>>
>>75464897
Fuck off with this gay pity shit. Unless you've had a stroke or broken your neck, you can still lose weight at any age. Just put the fucking fork down and start lifting faggot. Stop making excuses for yourself and get to fucking work.
>>
>>75464897
Yeah. Once you hit 30, your body stops burning calories.
>>
>>75468811

>muh skin removal
Only a problem if you don't fast. Fasting removes loose skin.
>>
>>75470045
lmao, not if you are a middle age 300 pound man

>>75465306
Do it then, fatty now you need to commit and have discipline something money can't buy
>>
>>75465269
If you lose weight slowly (1lb per week) you won't have to worry about skin removal.
>>
>>75470738
OP is more than likely pushing 400+ pounds, if he drops 200lbs at that rate, yes dumbass, he will have loose skin regardless. Retarded bastard.
>>
>>75464897
it's almost never too late to get into shape or to turn your life around. maybe if you are 80, or if you have cerebral palsy. but it sounds like you can do it as much as anyone else. what you can't do is recover all the years and opportunities you lost. but you can use the ones you have ahead at least.

you wasted your past but you can avoid wasting your future
>>
>>75464897
It's not too late, just be aware that it'll take time and be a grueling process
>>
>>75465337
No I won't because I'm not retarded enough to be a geriatric thinking I am still a human being

>I'm a lot more physically tired than I was 10 yrs ago
Do you think that may be because you're carrying around a bunch of excess weight? Do you think you might be less tired if you weren't carrying said weight around all day?
Fix your diet first and foremost. No amount of exercise will help you if you continue eating the same way that made you a fatass in the first place. Cut out any excess sugar first. If you drink soda regularly, stop immediately and drink water instead. If you absolutely must drink soda for whatever reason, switch to diet. This step alone is enough to fix a lot of people's diets
Next, start counting calories. Figure out your current TDEE. Use calculators online to find it. When they ask, no, you are not active, you are sedentary. Shoot for 500 calories less than that per day. Stop eating snacks between meals. When you're working within a calorie budget having a snack now just makes for a smaller, less satisfying meal later. For the same reason consider skipping either breakfast or lunch, whichever is easier for you, so your other two meals can be bigger and more satiating.
Once you've got those things in order, then and only then should you start worrying about the finer points like counting macronutrients, this food v.s that food, and the like. There's a ton of contradictory information out there and that can make it all seem confusing, but weight loss is actually pretty simple and straightforward. Don't get lost in the weeds too early on.
Yes, you are going to be hungry between meals. This is normal. The goal is to eat less than what your body needs so it makes up the difference by burning fat. You'll be alright.

shitty lighting - true.
Crappy tattoos are unfortunately real.
When in SE Asia you
1. get drunk
2. shag a ladyboy
3. get a tattoo

>>75464897
I was literally 43 when I started a year ago. I'm down 110 pounds. There is some loose skin but it's really not as bad as I thought. But I've been lifting for the past year so areas like my arms filled in pretty nice. Even my chest looks decent and I think won't be noticeable in about 6 months.

It wasn't even that hard. I just walked a lot early on and lifted weights. I stuck to around 2000 calories a day but had occasional cheat meals like pizza that I'd fit in.

Just fucking do it. You'll feel a million times better. Can start dressing nice. Won't be the fat guy in the room anymore.
>>
>>75465329
>but my work colleague eats more and does the same work but is a lot stronger
This is why you fail. You are, like a woman, comparing yourself to others all the time. You assume your colleague does the same that you do, and you are probably being way too kind to yourself in that assessment.

For all you know he hits the gym right after work for hours. For all you know he intermittent fasts and delays gratification from junk food abstinence.
>>
>>75464897
Never too late fren.

Not to be a crab in the bucket but thank fuck I started taking care of my health sooner and got sexy now in my 20s. I do not want to end up like this or any of my globe shaped family members.
>>
>>75464897
it's never too late, unless you're on your fucking deathbed. of course, the results you can expect will change accord to age. if you're 44 you're still young enough that you can at least lose the weight and put on some muscle to make yourself look less like a freak. you might not be able to reach the upper echelons of athleticism but I doubt you wanted that anyway, huh? you can do it bro. never be game over.
>>
>>75464897
Yeah your joints are already fucked by that age... even if you lost the weight you'd look like a flying squirrel from all the skin and you don't have the elastin to get it back to normal.

Fuck it, just give up and enjoy those nachos fatty. NGMI.
>>
people talk about how it's shit when you are forty, dude watch how people end up at 60 and 70 and 80 if you let yourself go like that. my dad has his back completely fucked, his lower vertebrae are smashed together and pressure his nerves so he has chronic pain untratable on top of 50 other different things, it was bad enough 5 years ago but last year they gave him even more medication for the pain now half the time you don't know if he is drunk or drugged, there is no bigger misery than decrepitude and waiting for death
>>
>>75472221
Come on Elon. Get those cyborg bodies ready by then.
>>
>>75464897
It's never too late to start taking care of your body. The life expectancy in the US is 77 year old. Even if you only make it to 70, that's still another 26 years you have to spend in your body. The choices you make now determine whether that time will be pleasant or agonizing.
>>
>>75464897
At 46 you could be down 100-200lbs, or you could be the same weight (or fatter) than you are now. Which do you want to be?
>>
>>75465269
This is fatboy cope
Giant and fat looks like shit all the time, deflated skin looks fine in clothes but like shit out of them
One is unhealthy and will kill you early, the other is healthy
Easy ass choice, it's not perfect but it's so much better, stop coping

I've been fat, no not even just fat, straight up morbidly obese all 21 years of my life (we're talking 200 pounds by 5th grade and 300 pounds by freshmen year) and I have lost almost all the weight (only 10 pounds to go) since starting at 310 about two years ago and I can attest personally that I have horrible loose skin, which still makes me look fat as shit if I'm not wearing a shirt. and always will unless I get surgery.

I would rather die than go back to my old weight, words can't describe how much better I feel both mentally and physically since the weight loss. I ran a 5k a few days ago and didn't even take a walk break(my time was still below average though), my feet rarely hurt from doing my physical job, but back when I was fat my feet would hurt so bad at work I literally had to take fake bathroom breaks to rest. I can go in public and rest easy knowing someone won't drive by and yell "fatass!".

Even with bad loose skin I can't stress enough how important it is to not be fat, you truly do feel like a whole different person.
