What's wrong with bulking for 3 months and then cutting for 1 month cycles? Why does everyone insist on bulking until they look like fat pieces of lard

Not sure where you’re getting your info but 3 months of bulking followed by 1 month of cutting is pretty much standard procedure for most people.

For me it's more lift first fill out calories later or you'll get fat too fast. But you're fucking yourself if you don't eat to max gains fuck fat because you're gonna need a month of lighter lifting to recover anyways after doing bb on top of powerlifting for 2mo.

Once you get to intermediate stage, it becomes nearly impossible to gain muscle unless you are in a caloric surplus. Most people call bulking a meme because they never leave the noobie gain era of their lifting. They lift for 1 year and then they quit, wash rinse repeat.
There is 1 other way you can get good muscle growth while not in a surplus, and that is being a fatass. If you’re 20% body fat or higher then yes, you can gain muscle even in a deficit but not everyone is so chubby.

brehs I have been bulking since mid august. I am starting to feel fat, even got this thin roll of fat right beneath my chest when I sit down. But I don't feel like I have reached my goals in terms of muscle building. Went from about 78 kg to 83 kg (172 lbs to 183 lbs) at 185 cm (6'0). I want to reach a stable and solid 86-87 kg (190 lbs), but I am afraid I am just putting on fat now.

Should I power trough? I have no issues with cutting, I much prefer that over bulking to be honest. Planning on just cutting from new years and go until I feel lean enough.

I have only trained upper body during this period because fuck legs. If half my gains are fat and half are muscle, I have added about 2.5 kg (5lbs) of muscle to my upper body. Is that shit for the time frame?
