Doing no gi bjj once a week

Worth it or pointless?

Single session is $12

i agree it's a fun way to spend a few hours, but I'd recommend learning some stuff in the basics course before doing 1 time a week unless you come from a wrestling background. It sucked being "lost" for the few months against people who know some stuff.

I did 1hr/wk for 4 months while I was doing muay thai for 6 hrs/wk. I got good enough to where I wasn't being submitted by anyone my size - though I couldn't necessarily submit them, either, if they were better than me.

I don't know? Why don't you ask /sp/ you gigantic faggot? This is the fitness board.

Okay that sounds good. I think I'll give it a go then

Fuck off

/sp is a meme board nobody ever visits aside from retard football fans maybe. Everybody always discusses combat sports here

/sp/ is for spectators, newfag

It's pointless if you're only training only once a week. To internalize the principles and get gud you need at least 3 sessions in class and 1 open mat.
Plus, you're wasting money by not utilizing the time. If your membership is 150 a month, and you only go 4 times, think of the value you're getting.

Mixed replies by people that have never done bjj nor competed in bjj tournaments. The sport is not something to simply get into for funsies or because you want something neat to do, it's a time and skill investment, based mostly off knowledge and practice.

Extremely blue belt thing to say. Most gyms are hobbyist gyms and pay the bills with people coming in to roll around a bit a couple times a week for fun. I really can't stand retards like you who think BJJ is some sort of calling or lifestyle, it's fucking adult karate.

I don't know how else to spell it out. You go once a week you get your ass kicked and lose interest.
Maybe the culture is different in other gyms. At my gym young or old they don't fuck around, they're there to learn and put in effort.

Worth it for what? If you want to have a place to chill, compete and make some friends then sure. If you want to get any good you have to do at least 2-3 sessions a week.
>>

What if I don't want to compete in tournaments just learn how to take someone down , choke them and prevent those things happening to me
