He was a pretty healthy weight until the last couple of years of his life. People assume he slowly transformed from his 50s version into the fat guy he was when he died in 1977 but he was actually somewhat thin until 1975 basically. Heres a photo from late September 1974, less than 3 years before he died. His body is still pretty thin but you can see from his cheeks that he's just holding an absolute fuckload of water, which probably relates to the drugs he was on.
