I can still do these but next day my left knee will feel like crap. Has anyone overcame that? Over time it has definitely improved but idk still wouldn’t mind doing them routinely again

I went hiking in the Himalayas and I need them every time I explosively exert my legs now. Not in the gym exactly but when running and stuff like that

I can do them, but it's a test, not an exercise thing. I don't recommend pistol squats for your workout needs. It's one of those things you should be able to do tho.

I heavily disagree. Single leg squats and their variations are excellent assistance work for squatting, they build another level of proprioception and balance you can't get otherwise. For hypertrophy they have their use for emphasizing the vastus medialis. They'll build a solid foundation for your glutes, but those gains will fall off unless you start adding weight (eventually if youre doing the most advanced variations). Not to mention that the SFR ratio is so free that you can spam them every leg day.
