Hiking is a goated fitness hobby.

>>75585419It was the highest one and out of state. I'm in Texas now and naturally it's flat flat and hot hot. Only parks and mission trails for me for the foreseeable future.
>>75584482I hiked quite a bit and I can confirm that it's a lame hobby full of soibois and faggots
>>75585407DYEH>9,598ft btw
>>75585442Nice. No mountains where I'm from. No snow for a thousand miles.
>>75585442I hiked Mt. Rose in Reno once, that's like 11 hundo. Nice pic
>>75585502you mog me, this was my highest peak, Musala in Bulgaria
>>75585507how hard is it?
>>75585547moderately hard, mostly because of snow, but trail is not that long or steep, you get by cable car to decent elevation and than have like 5 miles to the peak

>>75584454My parents met in a bushwalking (hiking) club, so every fucking holiday growing up was camping with the expectation of walking 20+ km per day. I always found it incredibly boring and unfulfilling. It's a stretch to even call it "nature" when every trail has been carefully designed, built and maintained with heavy machinery. If I was ever going to get back into that kind of thing it would be through multi-day ultramarathons rather than walking. I just need to build my endurance up, since even a half marathon is a bit of a stretch right now.
>>75585805>every trail has been carefully designed, built and maintained with heavy machineryhere lies the problem.i find funny that of all my friends i am the only one that goes offtrail. but of course i am the mountain village guy, while they are hickers
>>75584482Based, hiking is based but cringe if you ever talk about it or consider it a hobby
>>75584482H(k)ike plebs need to hear it. It’s a lot of women, loser men, boomers, and pseudo-bourgeois. There are no based schizos, scumbags, BVLLs, Chads, or Aristocrats out hiking. It’s not hard. It’s not a hobby. It’s more like a date activity on a level similar to minigolf.
>>75585872The only correct take desu.
>>75584454I saw a snek once. Spoopy.
>>75585805>>75585837The curated nature is what destroys it. Wandering the woods and deserts is based. Walking on a used goods trail is cucked. That’s just the problem. Aryan Men do something and then these apes come along and commercialize it turning it into a daycare for people who lack the resilience of the atavistic wanderer.
>>75584482Learn the plants
>>75587414Trails are fine. If it's too developed and there's too many people, then it's a problem. Where I go there's no one there.
>>75587411You literally need to touch grass.
>>75584454Yes but you also should be able to identify the flora fauna and or geological landscape around you. Otherwise stay inside on a treadmill and let me practice plant taxonomy in peace.
Hiked up an Austrian mountain this summer it’s insane if you hike you never see any scum of the earth or minorities. Very peaceful highly recommend
>>75587536i mean when i say offtrail i mostly go through trails that can barely be seen, they are natural trails, after all even deers follow thembut the i go through the fields or wherever i please if i know at least a little the terrain.
>>75587921I hate tourists almost as much as streetshiters. You have to go back.

>>75584454It is, but it's endurance fitness, while /fit/ is a bodybuilding board. Hiking is based, and as brutal as you make it
Is it just me or do I never see a single person of color hiking? Or camping for that matter or anything outdoors. I'm not trying to be politically incorrect I'm just noticing it.
I hiked the Colorado Trail in 2022. 486.4 miles. 29 days. pic rel.
>>75584454I used to go hiking with my gym bro years ago, and we'd have a lot of fun, even come across wild animals sometimes. I miss him so much, he just had to disappear forever...
>>75590469hey its me, your gymbro. you kept trying to have gay homosexual anal sex with me and i kept saying no. i had enough and left.
>>75590446Lots of us here in Florida. Granted, as a black guy I never see any fellow negros... but lots of hispanics tho.
>>75584454Yeah its fun fr.
>>75590446I'm a Euro who toured 7 national parks in America last summer, and the only sizeable minority I saw on any trails were Asians. other than that it was overwhelmingly white. could probably count on 2 hands the number of browns I saw.
Went trekking around the Annapurna massif last year, was pretty nice. The Himalayas are gorgeous. Pic rel is from Thorung La pass, altitude approx. 17800ft
>>75591610don't forget to post it on your social media!
>>75590446Just look at REI ads, then you'll see plenty lol.But yeah, coloreds hate nature. Though when out West there were plenty of qt latinas in the mountains.
>>75591592>7 national parks in one summerYou really do have a lot of downtime don't you
>>75584454Based (One day one of these people who end up in my pictures are going to find themselves on 4chan) >>75584482As shit of a take as this is, I am unable to explain why I enjoy hiking. >>75590740>Florida>Hiking what
>>75591777Eurochads stay frosty.
>>75591777we didn't stay long at each one, 3 days in Yosemite was the longest. was there for 15 days total and we crammed in as much as we could, maybe too much. but 2 of those parks were only overnight stays, and 2 were Arches and Canyonlands which are right next to each other.
>>75591824It's less biking and more wading and gater wrestling
>>75591776If you were to follow the ads of america, the United States would be 75% black.
>>75585432Then you haven't hiked far enough. The farther you get from the parking lot, the higher quality people you find.
Hiking is the main reason I train cardio, you can be as big as a gorilla but if you can't keep up with twinks on a hike you'll look like a bitch
>>75590446there are plenty of browns on the trails around vancouver but they're always the almost-white browns, the ones who speak good english and don't fuck up the trails and stuff
If you haven’t experienced climbing something because it is there, do it.
>>75584454i have started mountain gym. hike out with huge heavy pack (30kg). make camp, next day, go up mountain and lift heavy rocks. i carried a 10 foot long 3x6 beam 2 miles up a mountain. I have been constructing a stone hut in a secret location.
>>75584482t. seething fatass
>nooo don't you see the signs>noooo no bikes allowed in this trail>nooooo 1 dude in a bike destroys trails but 6 gorillion tourist don't erode the trail>noo you can't ruin the peacefulness of nature with your bike and stop complaining about forestry equipment bulldozing the trail to cut 3 trees. Luckily in francistan hikers aren't as anal about riders on the trail and move out of the way when they see me descending at Mach fuck
>>75584482>my hobbies? Oh I lift metallic plates up and down>sideways, sometimes>yes, you could well say I'm pretty badass

>>75594152Where is this? I used to hike Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta all the time.

How far from civilization do you guys go? I've never spent the night in the woods, the though of it is kinda scary.
Hiking with your puppy is even more based
>>75594511not much because I'm a southern europoor so I'm never too far from civilization, but spending one night in the woods is actually pretty damn comfy. If you do it in a place filled with bears or mountain lions it might be a different story, but as long as you leave food sealed away it should be fine I think?>>75594706I have a friend with a border collie and it has insane amounts of energy, perfect companion for outings in nature
>>75592733yeah but everyone walksnot everyone lifts
>>75595182>everyone walksnot anymore, buddy
>>75595236maybe look at a real country with healthy people
>>75595239I'm actually euro, but jokes aside the average person struggles quite a bit on hikes either because they are city slickers who aren't used to rough terrain (so they look disabled while descending on rocky trails) or because they are unfit and they struggle with elevation gains above 500m.This isn't to say that hiking is some badass activity of course, but it's quite different from walking to the grocery store and just like lifting it's not a hobby that that many people engage with

>>75585837Maybe I'm retarded but I don't get why trails have to be maintained at all. Just walk nigga and the path will form. Tree falls on route? Just circle around or climb over it, or if it really bothers you, bring a saw.
>>75584454Agreed. I live right up to 20 squarekilometers of forests, and practically every single day I walk at least an hour out there.I can literally feel whatever stress I have melt away once I'm 50 meters in.
>>75595746they are maintained for the 4x4 cars, at least where i am. the person wide trails are not maintained at all, maybe adding some post to mark the router or in places where there is lots of vegetation cleaning the most fucked up places
How do i get into hiking
>>75597524>Pick an easy trail near you>Walk itRepeat ad infinitum with increasingly harder/farther trails.
>>75597524Go outside
Hiking is the best. I took for granted all the years I hiked sometimes multiple trips a week. Now I’m married and have kids live in a boring place and I can basically never hike. Hiking is GOATed for these reason:-truly absorbing nature. Most unpopular trials and even many popular ones weren’t made through heavy machinery just a hoe and maintained by other’s feet. Enjoy the nature for miles. And it’s pretty serious in wild environments devoid of people, you can actually get lost even on somewhat marked trails. -enough cardio for the week-leg gains when bulking -fresh air-only time with you and your own thoughts-appreciation of simple things, and nature of course-not actually easy, unless you’ve never hiked 10+ miles in 99% humidity east coast summer weather or completed a west coast 14er we’ll before noon.Hiking haters are just copers. And yeah even I think climbing is a bit extreme/weird
Holiday to Croatia earlier this yearThis is from the hill above Dubrovnik, looking west-southwestSome other bong jogged past me which put me to shame so I ran up instead of walking
If you get overtaken just use the variety of lycrafag excuses when they get btfo by actual cyclists>actually i was in my resting zone>actually i just did a billion kms hiking already, you didn't see>just before you saw me i was going mach 5 but i have to take a small break and in that break you overtook me
>>75598530The entrance to the Lairig Ghru valley in the Scottish highlandsPart of a 20mi hike I posted on here for advice about this summer pastIf you squint there's a little bothy which I did not shelter in - the snow hadn't come on yet
>>75598530>>75598558And coming out againTrail goes into the woods and descends for another two or three miles
>>75584495Of course they don't know who Sherpas are.
>>75584454The best hiking IMHO is short difficult hikes. My legs are sore from doing one Sunday. In Phoenix AZ>Piestewa Peakand >Camelback Mountainboth climb ~1200ft over 1.2mi. Camelback (Echo Canyon side) is harder, slightly shorter with more elevation gain.25-30 minutes that completely kick your ass. Walk down slow, the work is over.
>>75594124bro spends 5 nights in the forest looking for dicks then gatekeeps the easiest hobby you can get into lmao
