In anime specifically I feel like it is too focused on the characters and not the plot, and the humor is really goofy and silly and childish in a way that not even a child should find funny, really I think it only appeals to a kind of alt soi closely related to the marvel movie fan that just wants to repeat the designated funny lines or some shit. I was listening to quentin tarantino on joe rogan and he put it in a way that I agree with, all tv shows are basically soap operas, sometimes there are good shows but they either have a planned end or degenerate into a soap opera, and anime suffers from this especially. Maybe some of it is good, but at that point it’s like good rap, most of it is trash and the entire genre is defined by the trash so why should I bother digging for the gold.
