Considering buying a home treadmill. Can I get a quality one that won’t break in a year for less than 500 bucks?
>>75613425Yes, if you don’t mind buying used. You can probably find a lot of good treadmill deals for lightly used ones.
>>75613428I don’t mind used at all. My main concern is that the quality will decline in a year, used or new. I remember considering an elliptical and found review on a 700ish one that got harder to stride on after a year.Wouldn’t want to get ripped off that badly lol. Hopefully I find one on facebook marketplace
>>75613432Well I suggested used because people tend to buy really nice, expensive exercise equipment and then price it low just to get rid of it. Just look at the rise and fall of Peloton.
>>75613425>500 bucksNo, I bought one for about that price if I convert my currency. I was 60kg lighter than the maximum allowed weight limit. The running board broke within a year. I replaced the board with something I bought from a DIY store, stronger wood but doesn't have a super smooth texture like the old board. It's noisy now. I run outside now.
>>75613446Damn. What a shame, it’s like you’re screwed unless you get one for 1k bucks.Or at least 800/900.I’ll probably try what the other anon said and look for a used expensive one. Otherwise I’ll just find a gym until spring comes
>>75613425I just attach two resistance bands against my door handle and put them across my waist and shoulders then try to run away from the door.
>>75614174Lmao I’d be worried about breaking my door (5’11, 180 lbs,22M
>>75613425>Can I get a quality one that won’t break in a year for less than 500 bucks?no. need to eye at least 1k>>75613432>>75613432>usedjust take a look at wear/usage/lifetime miles. you lose out on warranty, but if you don't care about that, you can do maintenance yourself if it arises
>>75613425If you can save up for a bit longer, you can get a real good water rower for like $700 US. I've had mine for 4 years now and have caned it twice a week, it's still pristine.
>>75613425I have a standing desk and a walking pad I bought on Amazon for $100 on sale. I got one with 10% incline, incline is important. It fits right under my desk when I'm not using it. The one I got has app support and the higher weight limit but I don't use the app. This has worked really well for me and I use it 1-1.5 hours a day, but I can't speak to the longevity. if I get a year out of it I'd be happy, 2 years and it was a bargain. Being able to do my autistic computer shit while using it has made it a no brainer.
Does anyone know anything about non motorized treadmills?
>>75615282I asked my mother to buy a treadmill and she bought one of these. I was tripping over myself constantly. You can't go very fast and it feels like you're walking underwater since you have to use your feet to move the belt.
>>75615190What model walking pad and standing desk did you purchase? Are they suitable for placement on carpet?
walking is free dumb nigger
>>75615392I can't go outside because of covid lockdowns
>>75615282I guess they could add something like a fixed sled to make it better instead of those two sticks
>>75615392Treadmills have much lower injury rates than running outside, it's easier to pick a specific pace/distance, you aren't getting exposed to the cold/heat/rain/UV, and you can watch movies while you exercise. What's not to like?
>>75615390I got a "WELLFIT WP009" but as far as I can tell, they are all EXACTLY the same thing made in the same factory, assuming the features are the same (app integration, motor HP, and weight capacity). So just get whatever's cheapest that has the features you want. The one I bought is $109 on Amazon right now but they can get even cheaper if you find the right deal.As far as the walking desk, my specific model is no longer available, but it's another thing where they're commodity hardware made in the same factory. I have a dual-motor model that came without a table top, and I put an IKEA countertop on it. It has worked fantastic loaded down with 3 monitors and my PC for ~4 years, going up and down every day, no sweat. The dual motor part is important if you're gonna have a lot of weight on there. And yeah, suitable for carpet, I use both on carpet. If you get a walking pad without incline, it might block the vents, but with the incline attach (it's just two legs) it holds the vents above the carpet.
>>75615852Running outside is better for you and the treadmill should always be a backup plan. Otherwise, it’s okay to have one. Go outside, anon.
>>75615392I walk outside every day but then I walk inside too to get more walking done while I do stuff
>>75615282My gym has one of these, an "assault runner". It's a motorless treadmill. It works great, pretty fun to use, apparently uses 1.1-1.25x more effort or something like that. Pricey at ~$3000.
>>75615392Niggers rob people in my neighborhood so stay inside
>>75616108my gym has a couple of them too. i have not seen anyone use it. has a big manual brake on it. looks scary as fuck
>>75613439>Well I suggested used because people tend to buy really nice, expensive exercise equipment and then price it low just to get rid of it.My parents bought a (somewhat cheap, but still) treadmill because they planned to exercise yet I ended up being the only one to use it. I can imagine people buying it, hoping to magically find motivation/discipline to actually using it then finding out otherwise and wanting to get rid of it.
>>75616108>~$3000>for an unpowered treadmilllol
>>75615282Any time i see pics like those it brings me back to the posts of retards claiming women arent supposed to exercise
>>75616590>I can imagine people buying it, hoping to magically find motivation/discipline to actually using it then finding out otherwise and wanting to get rid of it.Exactly. Treadmills are bulky and take up a lot of space so they resell them at a huge discount just so someone will come pick it up and get it out of their house.
