Who is /fat/ for?
For diligent dieters who are working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros) or LoseIt (great for both).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

I'm addicted to mountain dew. It's just so fucking good, it's seriously like heroin to me. I drink a 500 ml bottle every day, which is only 236 kcal, but obviously it would be better if I didn't.
>>
>>75709982
Do they make a diet or zero calorie version? Soft drink addiction really is a major gains goblin. See if you cant wheen yourself off it, drink more water.
>>
>>75709990
>Do they make a diet or zero calorie version?
Yes, but I don't like diet sodas, they don't sooth my soda withdrawals like the full sugar stuff. It's really sugar that I'd addicted to, I just greatly prefer mountain dew as my sugar delivery method.
>>
I'm going to have Robert Paulson tier tits even when I'm at goal weight
I basically forgot about developing massive gyno in middle school since all of me became humongous eventually so titties were not that unusual in combination, but it's starting to become funky again
Better start looking into the surgery
>>
>>75710005
I was the same until I just forced the switch and now artificial sweeteners hit exactly the same as sugar used to
Only took about a week or two
Unfortunately mountain dew zero is not one of the better ones imo
And most annoyingly the best ones are all caffeine free for some reason
>>
>>75710005
Try a 72hour fast, it was the only thing that broke my sugar cravings. After my fast it was weird having zero desire for sugary shit anymore, very liberating.
>>
>>75710036
Or you could just go outside and walk 10km for immediate effect. Not my problem if you're too mentally ill to drink plain water instead of soda when you get back.
>>
>>75710031
>>75710036
I'm just gonna drop it cold turkey, it's completely ridiculous to be addicted to sugar water anyway
>>
>>75710041
I found exercise to exacerbate my cravings not decrease them. Only the fast broke them entirely, It was like a spell was lifted and I was finally free.

I just ate chinese food oh god oh god oh fuck I'm gonna spiral into obesity again!!!
>>
>>75710120
Worst part about chinese food is not only is it calorie dense and overflowing with sodium but its also not satiating at all. You use all your daily calories on one meal and get like 2 days worth of sodium and like an hour after you eat it you're hungry again.

I binged over Christmas and gained 10lbs. Started deficit and treadmill again, day 3 now. 1500 intake w/ 45 mins on treadmill (600 cals although obviously don't take it strictly seriously). Today I had 3 coffees and I have vertigo like a motherfucker. This never happened before. Lying down the room turns. Wrf happened bros, do I need to binge eat again?
>>

>>
>>75709973
We had a big celebratory meal yesterday. I hadn't broken my eating rules in 8 months, not even for the holidays.
But I did yesterday. Pigged out on BBQ, ate all the carby sides too. Kept eating after everybody else had finished and looked at me in awkward silence.
Anyway, I wake up this morning, took a massive dump the like of which my toilet has rarely seen, and now my weight is down 3 pounds from my maintenance target weight I had religiously stuck to.
As usual, nothing makes sense. Probably just Descartes' genius malignus fucking with me again.
I am resuming proper habits and will say 12 Porcus Noster in contrition.

For months I've been using disposable weed vapes after work/on weekends due to boredom. As you can probably guess, when high I've been pigging out like crazy, often consuming 3000 calories per day while being sedentary (my job is also something that's not very physically demanding.)

Now I'm at about 250lbs as someone who is only 5'10" and doesn't have much muscle mass. I look like shit but I'm also very lazy when it comes to personal matters and in terms of weight I've really spiralled.
>>

I think this is the problem with diet soda. It has a lot of sodium and makes you keep wanting to snack, or at the very least keep drinking more diet soda.

Same man. I hit my suicide cut hard deck today, so its back to strict mechanical eating for me for a while. Nothing but what my body needs. Check your blood pressure. If you have Amazon Prime, they can deliver a blood pressure monitor to you today for 40 bucks or so.
If you're low, it could explain the dizziness.
But also, if you don't usually drink this much coffee, don't have 3 cups of coffee maybe.

I'm back. I've lost and gained so many times now. I don't eat junk food often, I haven't had alcohol in months, and I have been fairly active up until last November. My problem is and has always been portion control. I simply eat too much. Add to that my son being born and my job being sedentary and I've regained the last bit that I lost. I have 50 lbs to melt away. I'm going to get it done.

Same. I've always been kicked in the dirt growing up. I guess I am a a bit jaded and bitter, but I hate being mean. I wear my heart on my chest. I want to be people's rock, but I also hate being alone and feel like my horrid body is part of why. I wish someone could see my kind, honest hardworking heart and comfort me and cheer me on like I see so many men have, but my fat, weak body just leaves me looking like a loser. I've almost gotten down to my current goal of 250 from 310, and it still disheartening seeing people fatter, weaker and mean finding unconditional love. I don't think I'm actually weak or a push over, I do feel like I am confident and genuinely love myself, but I'm tired of being alone and want someone to be closer with.
>>
>>75710519
I feel you, brother.

I’ve consumed 900 calories today and shan’t consume any more. My mother wasn’t a bad person, but I would describe her as a bad mother. She did nothing to prepare me for being an adult nor taught me much. She didn’t even teach me how to tie my shoelaces until I was 13.

Insecurity is a hell of a thing, man. A lot of us are dealing with it in some way or another, largely due to our upbringing. I know how you feel. All my life I approached personal relationships with transparency and loyalty, and was betrayed most of the time. It's a hell of a thing, expecting sincerity. Fortunately it's a good litmus test for finding people worth keeping in your life. I hope you've found some people like that.
Finding love is another matter. It's callous to say, but you're going to need to be at least moderately attractive to get through the first stage. Physical attraction is a very real thing. You don't need to be a blackpilled lookmaxing weirdo, but having a presentable body, wearing decent clothes and maintaining a decent grooming standard are required. Beyond that, bear in mind the feeling you have now when selecting a woman. You may very well meet a great woman with a poor exterior. If she's worthwhile, she can be improved. Chubby, bad opinions, poor habits etc. I'm not saying to settle, but use your experience to find hidden gems others would otherwise overlook.
You can do this, brother. Become the man you want to be.

Well next time, 2 cups of bone broth is 80kcals and 200g of broccoli is 70kcals, both are very high satiety for their calories, that's 150kcals total and will almost certainly make you feel far less hungry, if not completely satisfied.

Normally never leave the house aside from when I go to work, Dad just invited me to go to Hawaii with some family friends in May but I'm not setting foot on a beach while I look like a monster. Could I lose 40 pounds in 4 months? 184 now
>>
>>75711197
40x3500/108 = 1296 daily calorie deficit

Yeah, you could do that. Go calculate your TDEE, links in the OP, then eat TDEE-1300 and you'll be down roughly 40lbs by may 1st.
>>
>>75711197
Yeah 10 pounds a month is doable but you have to be dedicated. 10 pounds a month is 35,000 calorie deficit per month. That averages out to 1,167 average daily deficit. If you can be very active and burn 3,000 calories a day then eat 1,800 a day should get you there. I think it will be hard but it can be done.
>>
>>75711182
That does sound good but I don't have either of those anyway
>>
>>75711115
My goal is 1200 I'm far exceeding that. I wont go up to 250 but I will gain weight back. I don't want that. I'm just losing my ability to say no even though i know the consequences, I feel like a relapsing addict. I set boundaries and I'm breaking them. Now what?
>>
>>75711302
If you can't remember why you started you'll never make it. Try to remember what made you want to lose the weight in the first place, and next time you're tempted ask yourself if the temptation is worth delaying your goals.
>>

Start making protein shake coffees. 160cal they'll keep you fuller and give you just protein and help you shit, AND sooth a sweet tooth. Start meal planning. Don't buy shit that isn't on your meal list. Keep reminding yourself every extra few calories could be the difference. Ideally consoom the extra protein and at least do daily calisthenics. Cottage cheese and keto toast for breakfast, 35cal per slice and 80cal per .5 cup and mostly protein and fiber. Lunch is another protein coffee. Count EVERYTHING with measuring cups/spoons or a scale.
>>
>>75711320
I started because I was repulsed with what I'd become, I wonder if the problem is being so close to my goal and becoming complacent? I want to be someone that my family can be proud of. Not a fatty eating extra cookies. Extra soup and bread. Skipping exercise.

Many flavors to choose for premixed, this is just one brand. There are plenty of others, but keep a close eye on the calories to protein ratios. 20g for 180 when another brand can do 30g for 160? EZ choice. If it's not sweet enough get some white girl zero calorie coffee syrup. Again, there are multiple brands to pick that use different artificial sweetness, if you dont like one just try another.

Another big weight loss day today. Ate about 1800 calories and between my normal daily activities and walking 12 miles I burned about 4800 calories. 3000 calorie deficit in a day is pretty nice. Though walking did eat up 3 hours of my day.

>>75711611
are you taking vitamins? Eating veggies is good for the fiber but also all the important vitamins you need like C, K, A, the Bs. Especially if you are trying to lose weight you need a lot of Vitamin C since that is used in Collagen production and that will help with skin elasticity.

Catholicism can't be true if the pope fails to represent Christ, being Christ's substitute (vicar). It also can't be true if it has more than one "Christ" (which it does, since the canonical term for an RCC priest is "Alter Christus" (Latin for "Another Christ")
>For if he that cometh preacheth ANOTHER JESUS, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him."
2 Corinthians 11:4

Concerning what the Apostles said about the RCC for this issue later on in the same chapter,
"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."

>I let my fast down
Just hold strong brother, your already doing better than me. I'm only on day 3 of my fast and I can already smell food from a shocking distance and with extreme accuracy. I'm becoming an animal and I don't know how much longer I can hold out.
I DON'T NEED IT
>>
>>75712400
It's all in your mind.
Or if you're actually muscular then it's because your muscles have filled up on glycogen and became larger. Once that goes away you'll just be left with more fat.
>>
>fasting
Honest question I'm new here, but why go for this option, it's not sustainable once you reach your goal weight and you will need to switch to a more healthy eating habit and better meal planning to maintain. Would it not be better to start that practice now and not be miserable?
Is it just because fasting is seen as the easier of the two and you think you'll just figure out the hard stuff when you're already at your goal weight?
>>
>>75712538
Im personally fasting until Im closer to healthy BMI and then figure out how to eat healthy and lose the final pounds that way. Also fasting is more efficient at higher bodyfat% because you lose more fat/day compared fasting in healthy BMI
>>
>>75712538
Fasting is for small brained retards who just want to see number go down. CICO is for the refined gentleman.
>>
>>75712538
I chose fasting because it gave me quick results. I tried traditional dieting and it's just too slow for me, I need to see numbers go down NOW or I'll lose motivation.
I've also learned a lot of good eating habits for when I eat in my off days so I'm sure I'll fare well even when I reach my goal weight, although I can see how yoyo-ing can become a problem for someone who doesn't make an effort to change their eating habits.
>>
ignore the cico schizo
>>
>>75712538
Its so they dont have to workout. They binge eat then say theyll fast, lay in bed all day binge eat after being bored and repead ad infinitum.
>>
>>75712538
They're completely filled with motivation and think that motivation won't disappear. They have no idea how painfully unmotivated they will be when they reach their goal, and they won't even have the habits to keep them going.

It makes no sense to waste all your motivation learning something you'll stop once you reach your goals.
>>
>>75712575
CICO is the diet choice of this general. Cope.

Chips is my personal weakness too. Don't really care that much about chocolate or ice cream, sweets are okay, but chips is where it's at.

I've tried making beetroot "chips", they turn out okay but nothing special. I really like vinegar chips, so dumping a whole bunch of vinegar on them sort of scratches that itch. Beetroots are dirt cheap and healthy as fuck so why not give it a go. Just make sure to slice em really thin and make sure they have enough time and space in the oven to cook.

The other substitute is plain old popcorn. You don't want to go mega hard on popcorn, but at least popcorn fill you up somewhat and you can dump a whole bunch of salt on them too. It's at least better to eat 350~ kcal/100g somewhat fiberous popcorn than 550~ kcal/100g potato chips in my opinion.

100 grams or hell even 150 grams of popcorn is still a lot of popcorn.

The funniest thing about fasting is that if you just took four scoops of isolate whey for like 100g of protein and 435 calories, you would end up losing more weight because your BMR and general metabolism wouldn't slow down due to muscle loss. Also even 400 ish calories of pure protein can help sustain some sort of NEAT burn. So you actually get worse results by suffering harder kek

A 10 day fast appears safe in healthy humans. Protein loss occurs in early fast but decreases as ketogenesis increases. Fasting combined with physical activity does not negatively impact muscle function. Future studies will need to confirm these first findings

If you are fat you are prone to having a lot of other issues as well.
Fasting is a form of medicine. You can do it every once in a while for a couple days until you are back at a healthy level.
It's not a replacement for a lifestyle change, it's more of an extra thing to do while on the journey.

Really depends on sugar intake, the bacteria that cause tooth decay thrive on sugar. If you hardly eat any sugar they don't have much to eat and their population is low meaning slower decay, conversely if you eat a lot of sugar and don't practice good oral hygiene their population will explode and your teeth will rot rapidly.

You can buy wraps and fill them with lettuce and maybe a couple of slices of wafer thin chicken.

For example, a Tortilla is 173 calories. 100 grams of lettuce is 15 calories. 2 slices of wafer thin roast chicken slices is 24 calories. assuming you actually use 100 grams of lettuce, which is a lot, you're at 212 calories per wrap.

Day 3 of carnivore, last night I had a minor headache. This always seems to happen when I transition into keto. Woke up today feeling better but still a little off. Can tell my body is still craving those carbs. Doing OMAD for now with a big brunch and maybe a tiny snack of cheese in the early evening.
Have dropped 10lbs but most of that is just from constant pissing. The hardest part has been giving up sauces and spices. I'm trying to get used to just salt and pepper and a little dash of hot sauce. But I used to slather most of what I ate in sweet baby rays so it's a big improvement. Honestly can't believe how much sugar and calories they can cram into that stuff it's insane if you actually look at the back of the bottle.
I grew up thinking condiments were basically free calories, makes me sick thinking how much of the fat on me probably originated from ranch/bbq/ketchup.
>>
>>75713612

Well I live alone and am currently unemployed so that won't be a problem. Not sure how long I will continue this experiment. I'm not some crazy ketoschizo, just want to try different things to see if something clicks with me. I've tried just about every diet out there at least once. Most don't and I end up falling back into normal habits.
I'll say the one thing I have noticed so far is that I don't get any of the mucus or runny nose I usually get after eating a carb heavy meal. Don't know if I am mildly allergic or what but after a bowl of pasta or a sandwich or anything carb heavy I always get a clogged up snotty nose for at least a couple of hours.
Haven't had any of that in the last three days which feels like a blessing.

I think I legitimately have to talk to my therapist about this. Every 2 or 3 weeks like clockwork I'll get stressed about something or ither and suddenly get a bad case of the 'fuckits' and gorge on like 5000kcal a day for 2 or 3 days straight. I'm good enough about my diet and exercise the rest of the time that I'm still steadily losing weight, albeit very slowly, but 2 straight days of ice cream and fried food is not doing me any good.

Are fasting schizos the new keto schizos? I swear it happens in waves. Someone comes here yapping about some magic diet and how it works so well, then disappears after they relapse. Next it will be carnivore, or chasing food with beet juice because you don't absorb calories if you do that, or maybe more keto stuff. 1. You really have to force yourself. Stay strong, do not give in. Buy the food, don't even touch it, and just throw it away. You'll realize how much money and time you've wasted on binge eating when you physically see it as what it is: Garbage.

2. Walk. Take looooong ass walks. Really just about anything else to avoid you eating. Walking is both good cardio and it will help you actually think and process your feelings and stress, or maybe turn you in to Tina Belcher where you make up a bunch of fake scenarios in your head that at least make you feel better. Or just listen to music and day dream your music videos and dreams of being super talented back in high school.

3. Sleep. Sleeping is better than eating. Sleeping will help you process your mental problems. Sleeping is also when your body repairs itself so in turn it is helping you gain your muscle-building.

Oh I'm fully aware. I know that if I were to do a 24 hour fast right now and spend an hour or 2 sweating at the gym I'd be right back to my normal weight, I'm just frustrated that dropping a few solid pounds of shit while consuming nothing has registered as a net gain on my shitty cheap scale.

In many ways, weight loss isn't even real.

Main character syndrome is more
>Everything bad that happens to me is EVIL. I am PURE GOOD and can do no wrong!

His is more self loathing paranoia of other peoples validation towards him.

People don't like fat people, they tolerate fat people because they sometimes get to laugh at their expense. It's not paranoia, being fat is loathsome and terrible, literally making yourself a joke for other people to laugh at and get angry at when you sit next to them on a flight or at the theatre.

Nope, nobody cares and it's not that deep. Most people are fat nowadays especially women

First time counting calories am I missing something?
40g rolled oats 152cal
100ml milk 52cal
1 tsp flax seeds 18cal
So basically this breakfast is 222 calories according to google numbers.
I'll try to calculate lunch tomorrow to get to 1500.

As someone who went from fat to shredded I never ACTUALLY solved this problem, I just managed to avoid situations where I stopped binging. Still happened every once in a while as recently as 1 year ago where I already had abs lmao. Mentally I am still a fatfuck. I suppose the only thing I learned is that if you can't win the battle against your stomach you gotta learn how to avoid getting into the fight.

Working out. Bored? Lift. Do some cardio while listening to something. Try to set a PR on something. Do some accessory work. Calf raises, shrugs, wrist rolls, something that not in your normal routine.

Thanks Anon! My biggest regret is waiting until the end of last year to exercise, instead of just cutting food intake. Exercise feels amazing and I feel like a retard for not embracing it and more weight loss with muscle gain sooner.

hi /fit/izens, /a/ here, I just wanted to share some things, cos I am bored.
I was 152kg around 7 months ago, now I am at 116kg, (1600kcal each day, no day missed, if I eat more or drink, I will take it out of the week) but still no movement, I work from home and basically do nothing but sit at the computer all day and shitpost on /a/ but recently I started doing 3x10 pushups and 3x20 squats each other day.
I made cheesecake yesterday, just 1kg of cottage cheese, 300g sugar, 5 eggs, heavy cream = around 200kcal per 100g I recon, problem is, I ate it all.... in just 2 days.. but its just sooo good, next time I bake it, can any anon suggest me some good sugar alternatives? that will taste good when baked...

also, I

Forgive me father for I have sinned.
I tasted the glory that is banana ice cream with chocolate fudge. Even at just 2 cups of the stuff it was a calorie bomb.
WHY did it have to taste so fucking good?
Also why must potatoes be so fucking high on the glycemic index? FUCK! It also makes no damn sense that an order of fries contains less calories than a literal baked potato.

how in the fuck am I supposed to consume 220g of protein a day, stay under 1,800 calories, and have free time? Is all my time in this journey going to be spent doing dishes and buying all the chicken from the store? How the hell is this affordable?
>>
>>75715787
>how in the fuck am I supposed to consume 220g of protein
You're not.1g of protien per pound of lean mass, unless you've literally got 220lbs of lean mass, aka what you weight without the fat.

Also 220x4 is only 880kcals still quite possible if your get most your protien from whey and chicken breasts staying under 1800kcals is still feasible.
>>
>>75715918
I knew I must have been off somewhere. That works out to about 178.5-186.75 grams. I was thinking I would have to eat 2.5 chickens a day. In reality, 1 chicken (2 breasts), 1 cup cottage cheese, and about 6 eggs should get me there. I'd go whey, but in this economy about to make my own from cheese byproduct water
