Thinking of switching to lifting in the morning, should i lift fasted or do i need protein first?

I always lift heavier when I’m fasted and on 300mg caffeine. Something about food that makes me sluggish

I do physical labor all day and not sure if its best to lift in the morning when im fresh or after work when i can actually rest my muscles afterward.
