Increasing the amount of push ups you do each workout or adding weight in the form of a weight vest will also help build muscle over time. Problems: - The issue you'll have is that the rest of your body will be undeveloped. Incorporate other movements to combat this. - Progressive overload will be harder to achieve over time. Soon you'll need to do so many push ups or add so much weight to a vest that it will become cumbersome/impossible. That's why traditional strength training with weights is easier and more preferred.
