Been a while boyz

Let's see.
Keep making PRs on small lifts and bench.

One time forgot a couple small plates going to the playground, decided to do a Nurmagomedov style super set of weighted pull ups and dips and realized how little muscle endurance I have.

Decided to do each lift once for strength and once for muscle endurance with 1 min rest for upper body and maybe up to 3 for lower body. Feeling excited about improving my strength endurance
>>
>>75728051
Was trying to get back to my deadlift quicker (wasn't even adding weight that fast) and pulled a QL. Any hip flexion/extension hurt.
Thought I'm fucked but about a week later I barely feel it.
Not that old after all my dudes!
>>
>>75728051
> tfw any bench variation I try including medium grip incline bench my tricep 100% cuck my chest and I never end up feeling it
How to train chest if I only have a barbell?
I feel it during dips but it's probably lower chest mostly working.

I guess I can add deficit weighted push ups on those ground level bars after but at that point my triceps are 100% limitting
>>
>>75728091
Wide grip and/or long pause, Spoto presses if you are sinking your bench
>>
>>75728368
I feel like width does nothing at all for shifting to chest and according to Menno it shoudn't
>>
>>75728447
Speaking from personal experience I'm like all chest and much less tricep from doing a lot of max grip work. And if you look at powerlifters a lot of them do max grip and have noodle arms as a result but big chests.

Max grip meaning thick bars? Or just training grip separately?

Max grip as in max legal PL bench grip width or 81 cm apart/index fingers on the rings.

no, i heard high reps will do more for skinnyfats. is this not the case?
>>
>>75728862
NTA but
1. You're going to want to kill yourself doing all 4x20s
2. Anywhere from 5-30 reps per set will work from a hypertrophy standpoint provided you're going close enough to failure
3. For newbies there is no difference between hypertrophy and strength programming. They're the same damn thing.
>>
>>75728051
Extremely indian thread
>>
>>75728862
Complete fucking non-sense. 5-30 reps are totally equivalent. Unless specifically your muscles respond better to some particular rep range they are all equal

>>75728926

>3. For newbies there is no difference between hypertrophy and strength programming. They're the same damn thing.
Not exactly. Strength programming includes sets of 1-4 reps and I guess first couple of month that is good enough for hypertrophy too but if nothing else it's more risky and gives less opportunity for skill development
>>
>>75729683
Beginner strength programs don't go below sets of 5. If you want to be bigger and don't care about strength, sets of 5-6 are still the way to go, while adding weight every session.
>>
>>75729692

Any good rotational exercises with a barbell only? I was thinking of wrapping the end of the barbell with something, putting it in the corner and doing Russian twists
>>
>>75728051
My entire equipment is the cheapest plates I could order from Walmart and two of those adjustable one hand barbells, not the overpriced ones with their own sets of weights, the hard plastic ones where you screw off the end to load on the plates.

I also went 7 threads without noticing this and only visit /fit/ occasionally because I don't care about most of the stuff you talk about and only do hammer curls, a few regular curls, pushups, crunches, squats while holding the barbells in the middle of my chest facing each other with forearms parallel to floor, and T-poses holding them out.
Do I get the minimalism prize, do I win the thread? I paid boughted buyed purchased all my weights and the adjustables for less than $100 overall

Do those last

Russian twists, imo, don't work well when the bar is loaded. Best to just do them with a plate, KB, or DB. I prefer the tall kneeling or half kneeling twist for core. Rotational presses aren't bad, but I see them as core secondary.
I'd also invest in either a post or rack landmine. The corner/tennis ball trick works in a pinch, but having a stable base makes all the difference.
>>
>>75730968
They're called dumbbells, friend.
>>
>>75730736
why are they like this?
>>
>>75731195
I thought they were only called dumbbells when they didn't have plates and were molded/welded, and even the long ones like that were called dumbbells
Isn't that the difference?
>>
>>75730968
>two of those adjustable one hand barbells
You mean dumbbells???

>Do I get the minimalism prize, do I win the thread? I paid boughted buyed purchased all my weights and the adjustables for less than $100 overall
Based. I invested maybe twice as much so I have an actual bench and stands and that stuff (unless stands break) will last me YEARS UPON YEARS. Your shit is good for good couple years I'd say, until more weight is needed. Tbh for amateur hypertrophy only weighted cali is enough
>>
>>75731188
>Best to just do them with a plate
Are you referring to when they rotate it around their head and chest? I was wondering about that movement. Looks like it would tax arms and shoulder a lot and in the process maybe train obliques a little
>>
>>75728586
Ah. May as well give it a try. My only other exercises that I know would work pretty well is deficit weighted push ups but my backpack would prolly rip from the weight I'd need fresh. And not fresh - again my triceps would be limitting
>>
>>75733104
No, I'm talking about holding a plate (any weight) and sitting on the ground to perform Russian twists. I think the first link is not ideal with a barbell, but that's what you asked for. The others are good.

No what makes it a dumbbell is BEING SHORT SO THAT IT'S USED BY A SINGLE ARM. Being able to add or remove weights just makes it convenient. There are even kettlebells with modifiable weight

It's SHAPE BASED esl bro
