Alcohol has always been around. Its as ubiquotous to mankind's capacity to make food as bread and dairy.Its not a "jew" thing, every culture has alcohol in it.The fact it lowers inhibitions and creates an altered state of mind makes it accepted everywhere, despite its negative effects to the body. I dont drink, maybe a glass of wine twice a year, and I look down on alcoholics, but you cant diminish the cultural importance and impact of alcohol in any culture.
