It's one of the fittest things you can do and is also one of the hardest things to get into since it has a high learning curve. With that said it's incredibly enjoyable and for the past year and a half that I've been climbing I never felt like I needed to force myself to go to the gym.

Also a pic of real climbing

The ladder is designed to pivot and it would be a nightmare to stay rightside up without incredible abdominal strength and balance.
It seems like the smarter idea would be to get just enough grip strength to hang on after the initial flip and then climb up the ladder with your back towards the ground.

Dangerous but not very dangerous

I tried it once I didn't like it too much. Though I was watching that Norwegian dude (Mitbo something) and his upper body strength was impressive.
>>
>>75732872
He already is because he's too heavy and the ladder rungs are leaning on the blue bit, helping him balance. But yeah, it's normally unbeatable, the ladder gives you the illusion of a wide base of stability, but the two single points of attachment make it no different to climbing a slanted tightrope on your hands and knees, which nobody would pay money to have a try because that's more obviously impossible.
>>
>>75733639
Uh huh. You said it. Climbing!

>Climbing a ladder is not climbing
Jesus christ, this board is somehow still getting stupider.

>It's one of the fittest things you can do
Hmm, didn't realize being fit meant:
>Addicted to smoking weed
>Pathetically weak legs
>Zero aerobic capacity
>Can't into literally any other physical activity besides doing pull-ups and holding objects with strange grips
>>
>>75732821
The trick is to just use your feet and go quick. Using your feet gives only two points of contact and doesn't rock as much.
>t tried this when I was 11 and failed and the teenager running it, ran up it right after. I don't think he was flexing I think he was just showing it could be done

Nah sport climbing is still peak fitness, It's 2025 not the 70's anymore you're using old stereotypes that have nothing to do with the sport. Where climbing is now compared to the 70's is drastically different due to it being more focused on grades rather than just being a lazy hippie smoking weed and gate keeping routes. If you where to let's say consistently boulder for 2 years straight and from beginner to intermediate plus you'll probably still won't be able to climb a third of the problems set in the gym due to how difficult it is to progress.
