What was the most valuable thing you ever learned from /fit/? What was the most insightful post you ever read?
>>75735991Rolled for a fit waifu and got Judy Hopps, been living off that high ever since.
>>75735991Literally nothing, everything I've been told here was detrimental. Fucked up my back permanently doing deadlifts now I can't even squat, which I also didn't really need to do. I'm older now and had to rethink my routine due to constant injuries, and just making up my own routine while forgetting all the bullshit I ever heard from forum retards and bloatyroiders, I found something that works for me and my goals. Crazy thing is with the routine that goes easy on me I've made the best gains. It's just 1x5 with lots of machines rather than injurious barbell bullshit, also taking long rest periods and entire weeks off every month to focus on cardio. This has caused rapid gains in overall strength and aesthetics.
>>75736151Best routine might honestly just be dips, chins, and DB work for arms
>>75736163I'm not gonna go to the gym to do 3 sets. The one set routine works wonders so I'm not wasting my time with all those unnecessary sets anymore like you retards are. What I do is a wide variety of exercises totalling about 12-15 sets depending on if it's my A B or C day. So 12-15 different exercises targeting linked muscle groups. Hit every muscle from nearly every angle. I'm still out of the gym in like a half hour so I'm testing an AB split now with 20 sets per day.
>>75735991Nah a sam sulek clip on hitting the same shit next day if you feel like ahit easily, and one dude who said something about like kakazu and pulling your arms in from your hands for pressing stability and strength just like turtling up and shit. Lifting just feels like easy mode now if I don't have a 4pl8 bench in 8-10mo I'm gonna start taking estrogen and move to Thailand and start sucking dudes off and dressing like a gay little slut.
>>75735991Whoever memed me into doing Zerchers, thank you. My lower back is incredibly durable now, and I pretty much never get pain anymore.
>>75736199>something about like kakazu and pulling your arms in from your hands for pressing stability and strength just like turtling up and shitPre-zoomer English translation please?
>>75735991Somebody said warming up with light weights/high reps was good for the tendons, and it did improve my tendonitis. Apart from it, you're 100x times better off seeking info on r*ddit

The name of the game for one-set is pushing maxes to the point of form failure on or around the 5th rep or whatever range works best for you. Might also switch OHP from bench day for the same reason. Idk, I just put everything into an AB when it might be easier to separate in ABC. These are just lifts I like doing because I like well rounded hitting of muscle groups. You can do whatever specific exercises you want just following the concept. Or do a lot less than what I'm doing, it is quite a lot of sets, if you bonk easily it's going to be a lot to get through but I wanted that push into endurance conditioning.
>>75736258Do not make fun of my legs or I will track you down and mess up your macros. My legs are not in as great of shape as my upper body because my fucked up back doesn't allow me to train them too hard. I've been working with belt squats and leg presses to decent avail. Where it says squats on my routine I'm actually doing some alternative. I would do a set if deads too if I could but definitely keep it light as use a trap bar. The main positive of this routine is injury prevention, I'm fucking done with injuries and simply will not risk them anymore just to have muscles or say I can lift X amount. It's no longer worth it to me, my goal was to slip away into casual territory but the maintenance routine actually fucking worked better than all the vigorous routines I've tried.
>>75735991don't listen to a single post on /fit/, nobody knows what they're talking about, most people on this board don't lift or are <1 year in, and the ones that do know their shit don't hang around here very often at all.you have to read research journals and learn anatomy yourself if you want to get anywhere.
>>75736192>I'm not gonna go to the gym to do 3 sets.good, you're finally learning that time is more valuable than few hundred dollars and one corner of your room which will pay off in less than a year unlike rentcuck mindset of membership subscription.

>>75736763It makes you a bit stronger on the last few reps, at the cost of bloating you so much your abs will never show even if you're very low bf%, and thinning or potentially balding your hair. Honestly not worth the cost. I don't even take beta alanine because the meth user tier itchy feeling isn't worth the slight benefit. There's lots of shit where the cost or side effects aren't worth the benefit and creatine is one of them. Majority of you faggots don't lift for strength anyway so it has no benefit for you. There's a misconception that it grows mass, it does bloat you with waterweight but kiss your abs goodbye. It fills in the cracks.
>>75736771>wow, I can do one extra rep on lifetime subscription!fuck off
>>75735991Choline supplements. Underrated as fuck as a fatburner/metabolism booster
I was here from like 2010-2012 because it was funny, but I lifted irregularly and was skinny fat. Been browsing regularly again since 2021.Honestly the best post I saw was either some squat video explaining how different proportions in the legs changes squat form by using a series of metal rods centered around a straight line or it was a rather recent post explaining how to use nonfat mozzarella to make taco shells lmao. I feel like I've learned a ton from generic posts and memes though too.
am i the only person that genuinely feels like creatine does not bloat me and does actually pull water into the muscle instead? i do hold plenty of water weight anyway.
>>75736890yes, that's where the few pounds of muscle comes from, it's just water

Pic related changed how I develop my workout routines. This anon mogged everyone with his physique and his most simplified workout routine by focusing on 1 exercise per day.
>>75737161It's the act of putting all that weight on your spine and compressing it or bending your disks outward over and over and over, it's gonna cause serious damage eventually. For what? For you to say you had a good deadlift "back in the day" for a 1-2 year period. Weigh the costs and benefits, just do safe workouts they have a bigger long term payout when you're not crippled.
>>75735991An anon made a thread with a couple pictures showing how to use back exercises correctly to feel your lats. When I was a beginner I had a problem with that, and the advice from the thread fixed it. For lat pull downs, the gist of it was to put your elbows infront of your torso and move them down vertically instead of doing the typical bow movement besides the torso. I don't do it exactly like that anymore but it definitely helped to feel my lats.
>>75736270Very wholesome, though also depressing thread. What's there to seethe about? I don't get it.
>>75735991The sticky and occasionally a motivation post will get me. Everything else you just have to do your own research, this place is only good for questioning everything and making fun of fat people.

>>75736364>Do not make fun of my legsok gyno titty boy
>>75736151>Fucked up my back permanently doing deadlifts now I can't even squat, which I also didn't really need to do. I'm older now and had to rethink my routine due to constant injuries, and just making up my own routine while forgetting all the bullshit I ever heard from forum retards and bloatyroiders,You and me both my man. DL with a slightly bad form broke me in a way 2 years hasn't fixed. I wouldn't call it ego lifting because it was the final set of 3x8. Form slipped when I "just wanted to finish the set" and something tore loose in there. Never the same since. I don't advise people against DL and Squat, in fact I love both, but as far as I can tell I'm down for the count. So it goes, I wanted to make progress in the gym and I guess I found my wall. I would consider myself an insecurity lifter back then. Not that I needed people to see me lifting heavy weights or a jacked body for looks, but because I had captain save a hoe syndrome for the whole world. Since I didn't see things going right in the world and knew it was negatively effecting the ones I loved, I saw it as my duty to stand in the gap and being strong was part of it.My jacked up spine wasn't even my most core issue. I tried to hug the bear and it mauled me, my fault. So now I walk hunched over sometimes, but I must remember to smile because at least I am still here to walk at all.
>>75738835this is why the jefferson curl is so important. Deadlifts were never ever done with a straight back when lifting was invented, it was always by arching the spine and flexing the erectors. Working up from 20 lbs to like 200 lbs that way bulletproofs your spine for anything, to the point where bronze age lifters were "bent pressing" 400 lbs
There was a post forever ago about shoulders and somebody really struggling with theirs. Shits just wouldn't grow, he tried every exercise and supplemental work he could think of. Another anon replied with a picture that had a statue with the >wanting it to be easy text. A bit of a rant about how trying a million things wasn't going to make his shoulders grow, just keep pressing and shut the hell up, and they'll get there. No real reason that I always kept that post in the back of my mind but every plateau I've hit, I've gotten pass it with that advice and kept the issue in a realistic frame rather then getting depressed about it.
>>75738835I've been deadlifting like a fucking ape for over a decade and reading this kinda shit makes me feel like I dodged a bullet. It's literally the only movement that has not injured me, I busted my knee pushing my squat, I busted my shoulder pushing my bench, but diddlies have always been a fun and friendly standby. Except that I kinda stopped doing them because the return on the effort seemed pretty fucking minimal after all that time, most I do now is RDLs when my hamstrings and ass feel like they need a workout, no homo.
>>75738863i like that pic too
>>75738863based and same. When you get any really motivated lifter in the corner, even the grifters, and you suss out how they've succeeded... it really is just about that mindset and that perspective.
>>75738847I will look into this, thank you. The only limit to my stubbornness is when it comes to my own willingness to overcome it. One day I'd like to stop seeing a stubborn jackass in the mirror and instead see the guy who overcame that arse. Until that day, I will continue being a bull in a China shop, but with some luck these exercises might help me mend some of the broken tea pots.
>>75738864Well I wish you the best, but in the race to retard I'm never the slowest. So I'd say if you haven't jacked yourself in a decade, you probably won't at all.

>>75739080>lifting weights isnt hardit literally objectively is. you train yourself with weights that are hard to lift in order to trick your body into overdeveloping muscle mass. if you mean its not "hard" in the sense that its not like some gruelling torturous ordeal that risks your life then yeah but that's not what anybody means when they're talking about this. nobody here wants to be living in a ditch and eating shit to survive, what they're talking about is having the willpower to resist the temptation of an unhealthy lifestyle and the associated struggles with training your body.>oh thats not hard eitheryeah yeah you can literally say this about anything. what feels hard is subjective in the context of your own life. we're not experiencing the same struggle objectively but we relate to each other's experience of pushing through despite everything to achieve the goals we want. if you think that's pathetic, if you think i'm a loser, if you tell me i'm a deluded virgin fooling myself, get in line because that's the same boring shit i've heard my whole life. what motivates you to say that kind of repetitive pointless stuff? i just don't understand it. it's an inherently self defeating mindset. why wouldn't you choose to be hopeful instead?
>>75738737It's literally just 1x5, wide range of motions, failure set nearly every set. You don't have to do as wide of a range of motions, you could certainly cut some sets out of what I'm doing, and definitely could do more leg work. I avoid it as my back is fucked and don't want to fuck my knees too. My body got fucked by 5x5 and 3x5, I've never had an injury since starting 1x5 except me being retarded and falling off the box when attempting a 1RM box jump. I'm 7" away from the world record. Within months I maxed out out machines with cable stacks in my gym, granted that's not a huge feat but my strength shot up rapidly when switching to 1x5. There's something to it. Obviously you still gotta eat your protein to facilitate muscle protein synthesis.
>>75737432>had a good deadlift "back in the day" for a 1-2 year periodEven a natty retard like Isley can maintain a literal world-class deadlift for over a decade, what the fuck are you talking about lmao.Honestly you newfags behave like you're all made of glass.

>>75736192Yes. The additional benefit/stimulus of doing more sets after you've already done a set of an exercise with a relevant weight & the right effort... It's minuscule. But the benefit of doing another exercise that trains a different area is still there. It's crazy how much more productive a session containing one set of chest press, row, pullover, incline, OHP, shrug, incline curl, overhead extension, lateral & rev pec deck is compared to a session of 5 sets of bench and 5 sets of rows despite each workout being the same number of sets.
