I read somewhere that fasting twice a week reduces bodyfat, increases libido, and doesn't make you lose that much muscle.
Truth be told, I'm starting to think CICO is bullshit to an extent. Could one build muscle and lose fat while fasting? What has been your experience?

Fasting is CICO though just with added expended energy

Simply research metabolic disease.
It's no pseudo science.

Fasting alongside cardio, and basic muscle maintenance is how you beat metabolic disease.
It's a regulation of energy usage to provide advantage of numerous situations.
Namely

>train mitochondria to more efficiently convert energy during glucose depletion
There are other advantages, but according to all studies they all vanish the moment the fast is broken. So they are extremely meme worthy.

Unless you are fasting for a week or more you are not going to lose enough muscle mass for you to ever notice.
You should not be fasting more than once a month (if multiple day fast) or more than once a week (if literal 24 hour fast).

my experience is going part-time frugivore with calorie restriction works better, keeps your blood sugar from crashing while still getting the effects of protein starvation.

I did fasting by accident when I was in college b/c I would consume only coffee and not eat anything for the days I have to cram for exams since I didn't know what fasting was at that time. One benefit it is it chisels your face by getting rid of the fat round checks, showing off that sharp jawline.

CICO and "a calorie is a calorie" is all boomer pseudo-science. The only reason it could survive this long is that it was invented back in the age of mass media, where the TV was droning the messages approved by the ruling class ans nobody could hear it when a thinking person asked the question "but why are steroids a thing, then?"

Your hormones determine your body composition. They regulate how much muscle mass and how much fat you put on, how much fat you burn, how much protein you break down, how much sugar you store in your cells, and so on. If it were different, taking steroids would not make sense, since all they really do is manipulate your hormones.

You know what else you can do to manipulate your hormones, besides injecting steroids? Eat. Or decide to not eat. What you eat and when you eat it has a huge impact on your hormones.
Eat sugar and you spike your blood sugar, which in turn will spike insulin, which makes your body store more fat.
Fast, and you will lower insulin, which prompts your fat cells to release stored energy, and other hormones released during a fast will stimulate autophagy wherein your body breaks down defective tissue and burns it for fuel or uses it to create new healthy cells.
