Bros what the fuck happened to me. Today i was weak as FUCK at the gym. Like a weight that I could do for 4 sets of 9, I was failing at 6 on my third set.

Normally I would think its due to me restricting calories too hard but I didn't even lose any weight over the weekend. I also slept poorly last night but its hard to imagine a bad night of sleep being that powerful on your lifts.

Last week I started going to the gym for the first time, I used the chest press machine and my arms were basically useless the day after, couldn't fully extend, could barely take the cap off my toothpaste. If you're kinda in the same boat this is apparently caused by working out for the first time or after a long break. There's anecdotal evidence that working out the same sore muscles can actually make them less sore. In my case I just took two days off, and when I went again and used the same machine I had no soreness the day after. If this is your case, just ease into it and don't worry, if not, well maybe someone else will have better advice.

I think progressively easing into exercise is the way to go. Just try to do a little more than last week.

For example first week, just walk for something easy like 10-minutes, next week make it 12 minutes, 14 the next week, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60. Then once you've worked up to an hour you start tracking something like heartrate, and you try to spend more and more of that time in zone II increasing your walkspeed or incline until you're in zone II. Once you've worked up to an hour of zone II walking you can start adding some basic lifting. Focus on form and learning to do the exercise right, take it slow and ease into it, start with a basic upper lower split and lift three times a week, something like Upper - Rest - Lower - Rest - Upper - Rest - Rest. You can work up to something more advanced after a few months.

This is a marathon, not a sprint, people who try to go from sedentary slug to elite athlete always burn themselves out and quit.

If you work during the day and sleep at night it's better to skip dinner and begin your fast sooner, it's called breakfast for a reason, it's when you break-fast.
