Thoughts on using really low reps for hypertrophy?

Doing stuff like singles, doubles, and triples with like 90% of your max and doing a lot of sets.

The goal is to get better reps without having to go through a standard set of like 10 reps and only having those last 3 or 4 count.

Ex: 250 bench press, you'd use 225 and bust out a set of 3, rack and rest for 30 seconds, do another set of 1 to 3 reps, repeat.

Cringe or based?

If you can do for example:
3x10
Then you are not making heavy sets.
90% for reps and sets is very taxing.
I suggest one day of high volume with 60% and other day with low volume with 90%
For example OHP:
Day 1: 8x4 32 reps
Day 2: 5x3 15 reps
Then add weight every week or two weeks.

why do natty dyels always have to reinvent the wheel?
This shit was figured out 50 years ago but everyone wants to do some apeshit non-sense they made up in their heads or some other made up bullshit by a tiktok faggot pushing some gimmick for monetized views because nobody will pay him if he makes a video with tried and true advice that's been proven to work for decades

I fucked and read a lot of routines. Don’t fall for memes of Mike Mentzer or SS or Roided routines with high volume only.
You need volume for getting big, but you need to lift heavy for getting huge.

What do you do?

Aren't we all? He's just running out of stuff to talk about. I liked his older training videos. His shorter Q&A style videos are nice, but I feel like he talks way too much about oly lifting.

Congrats, you've discovered density work. It works if you have the time for it. However, going to light with weights that don't challenge you strength-wise will just make it what powerlifters call "speed work". Working with too heavy of a load will have you burn out rather quick, so the loads used have to have you leave at least 1-2 reps in the tank after each set.

I used to have squat sessions where I'd do 10-12 sets of 3-5 reps with 85% of my max. Made decent progress with it but couldn't sustain the effort for more than a couple months.

I tried something like this for a whole summer a couple years ago. It wasn't 90% of your max, it was 8 sets of 3 with what you could do for 4 or 5 fresh. Made mediocre gains size wise, absolute strength went up some but nothing insane. Ended up hurting my elbow doing heavy low rep sets of weighted chin ups. I'd steer clear.

Every rep with loads over your ~85%orm rep max are going to be hypertrophic but so will anything else close to failure. So it you think you can rep that 40-60 times x 2 times a week for every muscle group go for it. But something will probably break first. It's just more sustainable and compact to get that same stimulus from loads around 70-80%orm and managing intensity.

unironically what do I do if this is me?

Won't maximize it. Sarcoplasm is inherently endurance, because it's about stored energy, for reps. If you don't do reps, you aren't telling your body it needs endurance.

You need strength too though, so you can lift more when repping, and it builds muscle fibers. Low reps are good for strength. You can alternate low and high reps.

Fold your laundry, or get hangers.

Do they even make weights small enough to be 90% of your max?
