Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.

Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

If you are ambitious enough you can eat an entire weeks worth of calories in one cheat day. In my youth I used to go to cici's pizza on the weekend. I would bring a fat book and just camp out in a corner reading and eating pizza all day long. Over the course of 8 to 10 hours I would probably wolf down at least 10-20k calories.
It was so much fun, the people watching, catching some spongebob on the tv, getting lost in my book while gorging on bbq pizza, taco pizza, chocolate pudding and gallons of soda.
God I miss those days, I miss buffets, they were my home away from home.

cheat days in general are considered to be unrestricted calorie feasts. when you're in a deficit, each and every surplus calorie gets stored as fat much quicker compared to if you're not in a deficit. that's what is making cheat days so stupid.
eating pizza each day, while not good macro wise, can be fine if your calories in are less than whatever amount you're burning per day.
in the end, it's all about the quantities of your poison.

I feel like I'm heading for a plateau soon. I've been keeping track of my caloric deficit totals, so I have a general idea what my weight should be to keep me going and not focus too much on the scale. It's been pretty accurate honestly, usually the scale is only ever +/-1 lb from what I expect it to be. It's been about 130 ish days since I started. I know weight loss isn't linear, but lately something has changed.

I recently dropped 7.8 lbs in 6 days. Not doing anything differently. Based on my calculations, I'm about 5 lbs off from what I should be.
I feel like, I'm heading toward a plateau until my caloric deficit matches the scales.
