I love my little setup.
Don’t quite have a proper space to use.

1” Spinlock style dumbbell set
Fat grips when I’m bored
Titan fitness power block stand
Jump rope
Cheap Chinese bench
Amazon gloves.

I actually used to have a super nice
Rep Fitness AB-3000 V1.0 Bench
400$ USD

It was just too big for my space, ended up selling it and downgrading.

Took it as a lesson to be realistic about my setup. :/

I've been thinking about getting a heavy bag for cardio and explosivity-related purposes, but I'm not sure whether I should get a shrimp trawler (picrel) or a standalone stand.
I have an HR-2 stand with about 750 lbs of plates on it, and would be putting a 150-190 lb bag on the trawler. Am I good, or should I get something bolted down?
>>
>>76833387

If space always, I'd go the dedicated stand/ceiling mount.

Maybe, we'll see. My knee problem was costing me more than a few hundred dollars. And if it's some marketing psyop, they invested a lot into it and something to be studied.
>>
>>76833427
And it hasn't arrived yet, to be clear. Should be here by the end of the month.

I used my iron neck for the first time today
>>
>>76833447
Some, yeah. Rows?
>>
>>76833469
I've done it with bench, squats, deads, and press and at different sticking points.
>Rows?
Pendlay is probably the easiest form to maintain for rows. Could do upright rows, too. You could utilize your uprights for seated rows. You could use your j hooks to do inverted rows/holds, or just do a chin over bar pullup hold.
EliteFTS is the only company I can recall that have a rack add on dedicated to iso movements. Wouldn't be surprised if PowerLift and Sorinex have something as well. StrayDog Strength makes iso cups and iso spotter arms.
It's a fairly niche movement that I've only had to do for S&C with a team, not my thing.
>>
>>76833510
I dont have a power rack, plus I tried to envision doing this at the gym with the safeties and it seemed like a pain in the ass:

>>76832450
I got a ton of stuff during Covid, but in the end I only enjoy and feel comfortable doing alone all dumbbell exercises.
I wish I’d gotten a single set of adjustable dumbbells and nothing else instead of a whole gym setup.
>>
>>76832450
Powerblocks that go to 90 and a flat rep fitness bench are all I have and need. I can hang off the stairs for pull ups and ride my bike for more quads and cardio.
>>
>>76833587
Oh, you were referring to iso holds. I was thinking of the movements where the bar was locked in place and you actively push /pull against it.
>knee pain
More than likely something else is weak and after years of overcompensating the knee starts to give. You may need to strengthen hamstrings or hips. If you cycle, could even be a matter of improper seat/pedal positioning to cause irritation for the knee. Either way, I recommend Spanish Squats. I found it to be the best way I could rehab myself to continue training legs.

I just got this (2nd hand), feels good to be able to do leg extensions in the home gym.
I was previously able to do lying leg curls with a strap and the low pulley on my rack which were surprisingly good.

I'm done with equipment additions, I think from now on it'll be about swapping/upgrading my current equipment.

How do you guys bring the intensity when you’re working out at home? I’m finding it hard to push myself mentally when I’m in my living room. I bought some smelling salts and a bright light and they kinda help me get into the right mindset, but it just seems way easier to push myself when I’m at the gym

Having a dedicated room for the gym helps a lot. Even if it's a shitty space for it it'll contribute to locking in mentally.
>>
Anyone else have their gym in the garden?
Quite comfy to bench under a tree you planted.
>>
>>76834194
>AliExpress
I would be very cautious about buying surplus chink equipment. Yes, you could get lucky and receive an actual white label brand, or it could be pot metal shit. For the prices I saw on there, you could get a brand name pullover machine from a used gym equipment warehouse.
>>
>>76834491
I'm from Poland, and there are literally no pullover machines here. Squat racks are pretty much a novelty, there on the market for like 6 or 7 years basically. Before that, most gyms had built bench plus stand combos and for squats separated stands. If someone failed to get up from a squat, they just dropped the bar. We have a shit ton aftermarket gym equipment, but it's like soviet era/early 90's gear or those absolutely bloated 2000's goofy machines. In both cases the price tag is insane, it's like 80% of a brand new, modern machines.
>>
>>76834185
Having a dedicated room helps, as >>76834288 said. Basement, garage bay, detached shed, etc. You’re running into one of the biggest roadblocks many people experience with home gyms, however: it can be really difficult to push yourself at home because most people strongly associate home with rest and relaxation and family, not with training hard. I’ve been bodybuilding a long time, have a home gym, and even I have trouble getting into the mindset at times. It’s more convenient (and not grating) than going to my nearest commercial gym, but I can say I never had a motivation issue at a gym (besides getting distracted by women).
>>
>>76834504
Ah, ok, no worries. I assumed you were from the USA. In that case, the risk seems worth it if you can’t access older surplus stuff in your country. Only other question I’d ask is why a pullover machine is really necessary in my routine (for that much expense and trouble to get one), when dumbbell pullovers are a suitable alternative.
>>
>>76832450
Cheapo bench+adjustable dumbells+yoga mat+walking pad. I would like something to train lats harder (currently doing db pullovers) but i dont wanna fuck up the doorframes and i dont have space for a pullup station. Sad face :(

Title Boxing has a couple wall mounts that support your bag weight; though, I would apply stringers for extra support. And they are in the same price point as a trawler. Depends on the footprint of the rack. If you’re rocking a 30” depth rack, yeah, you really should. But a larger 4-or-6 post rack? It’s not going anywhere, especially if you have weight storage posts on the thing.

I restored one recently. I had to scan and retouch up the graphic (it's the soulful white one, not the black edgy one you can buy prints of). If you want to print it out yourself, I can hook you up.

Covid was an easy way to make plyo boxes, platforms, and some other random pieces for guys at work or in the neighborhood. Now, I just don't care to utilize my spare time for something people aren't looking for, especially as niche as this.
>how to
Piss easy. Just 3/4" plywood and a 3/4" horse mat, cut to size, screw together, and drill holes to allow it to be attached to the rack.
>improvements
I use my band pegs to attach it because I've yet to use them for anything else. A bolt and a nut would secure it better, but for the little use it gets, it's not needed. Maybe figuring out how to strap it like the abmat version would make it easier. Having a rack bolted or weighed down is necessary because the rack will shift greatly. Having it permanently secured to the back of a 6 post rack that isn't using that space would be ideal. Cutting out hand holds would make moving it easier while also allowing the surface to remain flush.
>other uses
- Platform on the ground for various sandbag throws/slams when outside so I don't tear the bag up on the pavement
- Handstand walks
- Spray paint the dot drill on it
- Use my rebounder rugby ball with it
- Too short for my liking, but can be used as a deficit platform
- Could probably set it on top of my safety arms to make an adjustable platform for stone loading or box jumps (it'd probably be better suited for depth jumps instead of landing on it though)

The plates havent rusted much after years outside, if you want you can paint them and/or store them under tarp or something.

They look like theyd tip over when weight is dropped onto the spotters.
Do you need much weight to hold them down/stable.
>>
>>76843903
I use a half rack because I like the more open feel of it when I have to put it in the middle of my living room. I highly recommend one with a second set of uprights in the back for plate storage. While setting mine up just the one set of uprights was able to fucking tilt a few degrees back and forth a bit, even with all of the bolts and support plates tightened. The extra set in the back locked everything in place. I doubt it was a safety concern, and it would have been able to handle spotter arms too, but it would have been very annoying.

>How do you guys bring the intensity when you’re working out at home? I’m finding it hard to push myself mentally when I’m in my living room.
Imagine being worried about your body when your mind is this weak. Put on a blind fold and imagine you're surrounded by sweaty dudes if that's what you need to "feel" like you're in a gym to get hard. What do I do to get myself in the right frame of mind? Realize I'm always in the wrong frame of mind until I've done the work, then do it, then be in the right frame of mind. Stop blaming your sofa for your softness, your discipline needs more work than your posterior chain.

I've used these pretty regularly for over 4 years, no issues at all. It doesn't really matter, the straps don't actually support most of the weight of the barbell. They work by rotating the bar back into your hand.

Nylon is superior to cotton. Rogue ones are $15. I have 2 pairs. Older pair probably 10 years old. Newer pair maybe 5. They look the same condition. I pull 500+ conventional and have pulled up to 700+ rack pulls with them on a super sharp Texas DL bar and they will last another 15 years easy.

You're MET pilled to almost 100% bud.
For pullups if your squat stands allow just out them on max height and do pullups on a barbell with curled legs
If you can do that you only need dip extensions for your squat stands if they can support it

Can't remember if I've posted recently, but this is what I'm working with these days. Back to all my own equipment, so it is a much more simple setup than I used to have. I'm liking it a whole lot more, though, and I think the only thing I'm thinking about buying next that'd be a substantial upgrade is an adjustable bench, but I don't really even need that.
The floor barbell is a for landmine work, by the way. The bar is small and bent, but its nice not having to worry about using a good bar for that stuff.

Spending extra on plates is usually dumb. Ideally you'd buy rubber instead, not just because it's cheaper but you can do more stuff with it. Crumb rubber is fine too as long as you have space on the barbell.
I don't know what that means.
I never liked leg extensions or curls. My main lower body lifts are back squats and front squats, and RDLs and barbell back extensions.
Run outside.

>Spending extra on plates is usually dumb. Ideally you'd buy rubber instead, not just because it's cheaper but you can do more stuff with it. Crumb rubber is fine too as long as you have space on the barbell.
If I'm going to buy new plates, I might as well get nicest ones, given all of the other plates I own are rusted trash I was given by someone else. Per plate weight for cheaper plates also tends to be highly variable.
Rubber plates suck, take up way too much space for what they offer.
>I don't know what that means.
I have a set of premium uprights held together by a pull up bar mounted to a wall, instead of a full power rack. I could spend my "fun" money to buy more parts for it to build it into more of a stand alone half rack.

Rubber plates definitely don't suck. Prices can vary, but I'm pretty damn sure even virgin rubber is cheaper than iron these days. The ones that take up a lot of space are crumb rubber instead of virgin, which is a pain, but you can find thinner 45lb plates from homegrown lifting for $1/lb and some shipping. Assuming US shipping.
The cage also isn't something where the more money you spend the better it is. Many cages on amazon are just fine, as long as you get good specs. But yeah turning that into a proper half rack would probably be your best decision. Plate storage on the rack is nice.
You should consider back extensions. It's like $100 for the CAP one, it's my favorite hamstring exercise, pick up a weighted barbell from the floor with maximum width grip.
Yeah you're definitely in the US, but so am I. I run outside shirtless at night in a more rural area. Never had to deal with cops or dogs. But uhhhhhhh, you could carry a gun while running to solve either of those problems.
>>
>>76864274
Do you need more plates i.e. you can lift more than you own? If not money better spent on other items in my opinion. Wire brush attachment and a drill/impact will clean up old plates and then you can spray paint them. I have literally everything I need for my gym but keep finding ways to buy new shit. For example just bought a Rep Double Black Diamond bar in Stainless steel even though I own an OPB & American Barbell Mammoth bar (not to mention a ton of specialty bars - SSB, CB-4, Axle Bar, stud bar, Texas DL bar, Bella bar for the wife, etc.). I guess what I'm saying is, buy what you want even if you don't need it?
>>

This attachment seemed pretty lackluster compared to the dialed motion one coming out. Would you be better off getting a compact, standalone leg ext/curl?

Kabukis seem to be going for $3.50/lb wherever I look. I think you can get better deals in the $2.50 range.

The dialed motion one is scheduled for Q4 2026 (partnered with REP now). If I were OP and wanting that, I'd get a budget/second hand leg curl to resell next year for the dialed motion.

Do any of you have a "triceps" bar like this one, and do you think it's worth it? Not in terms of money, because it's cheap, but is it actually useful and versatile enough? I already have so much unused shit, I don't want to buy any more that I won't actually use. Currently mostly thinking of using it for hammer curls and triceps extensions.

I've seen those but I don't really get what makes them better? There must be an obvious reason I just don't see atm.

What's the minimum amount of equipment for a home gym? In dollar and space terms
I'm thinking
>pull up bar, free standing
>calisthenics rings
>weight vest
>adjustable dumbbells
>running shoes

also get a diy pulley system that you can attach to the pull-up bar, they work great and are worth it.

If you have access to any kind of Swiss bar/football bar/multi-grip, then you can already do everything you can do with this. The type >>76867767 is showing is worth it if you really want/like really specialized attention to triceps. It’s kind of like those super curl bars with the very exaggerated cambers. The trick is finding one that’s relatively cheap while also not being made of flimsy chink tube metal and bad chrome.

nice setup. I have a 60 mm from Megatec when ATX still made that. If I'd buy again I'd probalby get a half rack as well. you can go right from squat to ohp without moving the bar out of the cage which can be tricky in confined spaces and I have two holes in the wall because of that

Gotta be careful anon, just because you lift a little bit of weight doesn't mean you are invincible.
look at Ronny's dumb ass barely walking with a cane these days.

I got one of those in 50mm. I love it. I'm using it for hammer curls and tri workouts and it brings nice variety to my workouts.
