Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 1g per lb of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and burn fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body burning away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

Terrified of leg press didn't want to push more than body weight and was super paranoid about not locking my knees out

I don't do any cardio for leg day but I like stairs cause it can be pretty high intensity without having to run. Including 1 min for warm up/cool down, I'm currently hovering around 675 steps for ten minutes. That's enough to have me pouring sweat even at the end, so I'm pretty happy with it.

I haven't actually fucked around on a treadmill since I started. Bike might be worth a try though, for sure.

I've been under the impression that if you lose weight too fast it can be a factor in creating loose skin. Some people contest that, others say its true, so I erred on the side of caution, limiting my weight loss to a 4kg (about 9 lbs) a month. This is largely based on the general advice that losing 2 lbs a week is "safe".

Is this really a thing? I talked with chatGPT and he's saying the total amount of weight loss is much more of a factor in whether or not you'll have loose skin. While I believe him he told me "Stopping your diet at 4 kg/month will not meaningfully prevent loose skin". Meaningfully means it still can at least a bit.

What say you /fit/? Can the speed of your weight loss potentially be a contributing factor in causing loose skin?

Despite having gotten from fat to marathon shape before, like half a decade ago I straight up gave up and refused to kill myself trying to control it anymore. Like after a lifetime of bulimia I just refused to even try or pretend to not just be a fat fuck that eats way too much because something is wrong genetically.
Then the GLP-1s came out and I decided to try it on the condition that I absolutely refused to make any intentional change to my diet, refused to restrict myself in any way. I went from “has a stool in the shower” fat to a BMI of 22 eating absolute trash, candy, takeout, whatever. Once enough of it came off I stopped being so demoralized and sort of put a minimum of effort into “eating healthy”, but never ever restricting the amount I eat. I just refuse. It’s because of the PFAS in the groundwater or it’s because my genes are fucked. Someday it will be cured, in such a way that even GLP-1s aren’t needed, but I’m on them for life. If they stop working I’ll just become fat again. I’m done.

Not the guy, but you see a lot of anecdotes to that effect just in these threads, it's a common thing.
Consider going into a cut/bulk cycle, it maintains novelty and a reason to be disciplined, not to mention the benefits of extra muscle mass. Occasional "diet breaks", even just eating at maintenance rather than surplus, can be beneficial if you don't overdo it.

King Oscar has the best quality fish, but they're all in olive oil or tomato sauce. The hot sauce obliterates any trace of fishy aftertaste and even if the fish aren't as firm, they fall apart, I like to slurp up the sauce for the extra fish bits.

That means you had 90lbs of body fat at 230 lbs, which comes out to 39% body fat. losing 35 lbs means you have 55lbs of body fat left, (likely more because you can't lose 100% body fat and 0% muscle) which lands you at 28% body fat. You really don't start looking significantly different until you reach sub 20% body fat. you're probably not actually around 19% body fat if you have a gut and muffin top. if you're completely sedentary with no history of lifting you're likely closer to 25-30% body fat. if you're calculating your TDEE using the body fat input you could be drastically overestimating your maintenance calories. IMO I'd just eat 1600 calories a day and see what happens. just make sure you get plenty of protein (at least 100g)

What you're wanting to look into are your hormones.
Leptin primarily, but peptide YY, GLP-1, and cholecystokinin are others. They all play a role in telling your brain that you are full.

Depending on how much you care, you can get your Leptin levels measures in a blood test. This sounds like fat person cope but your hormones might actually be out of whack and would explain why you've always felt hungry.

It actually does work. I've knocked most of the carbs out of my diet, still fucking love rice, but I can get away with two meals a day + protein shake(s) in a six hour window without hunger pangs and that's on top of working out six days a week.

Cause he wasn't progressing, and he was already up to 4 or 5 per set. He was doing them to failure after his 3 sets of chins. No sense in fatiguing the muscles so much if you can already do one chin-up you should just do more chin ups and not negatives.

I feel like a bitch for failing my diet today. Had probably 3000-3500~ of calories due to all the garbage food because that’s all i could stomach. But that made me feel even sicker. Hope i can recover tomorrow and get back on track
8kgs left to reach my long term goal of 80kgs, down from 100.5 kgs. But today was awful so it will probably take me another week extra.

I'm generally not so sceptical of protein supplements and supplements in general, I rely on them quite a lot, but 8 scoops a day is quite a lot, should try to eat more meat or something.

I basically stopped eating it when I started the cut.
Carbs aren't really that bad, I don't believe in Keto unless you want to lose lots of water weight really quickly, but rice is very calorie dense. Potatoes are surprisingly light if you want a nice substitution.

I still have a week and a bit in the cut, I might take pictures then and put them here for you to make fun of, but not right now.

Loss does seem to be slowing down somewhat though. Not quite sure why, maintenance definitely didn't decrease down (~700kcal deficit). For a week or so, a week back, I wasn't very diligent with the diet, would add in extra things without logging and stuff, but I've been more diligent since.

The only other things I can think of is that for a while I wasn't taking creatine, until maybe a month ago, which could affect water weight, but that was a while ago. I also went onto some ADHD medication, but this isn't a listed side effect (if anything it should result in reduced appetite). Might be drinking less water maybe.

Still, I got like 90% of what I was aiming for, it's progress.
