Buy scales, be accurate.

Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and burn fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body burning away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

Hey, I haven't been here in a few years. I come back to ask for forgiveness as I have fucked up. I was here in 2019 and went from 290 to 255 in a semester. Since then I went back home, and fell back into old habits. A few days ago I hit rock bottom.

My extended family are California crunchy types so the dishes are like wild rice stuffing, sweet potato souffle, kale salad, etc. All delicious and not too heavy but DAMN does the wine flow all day and night. That’s where I need to watch myself but I also have saved up 2k calories over the past week so I can take it easy a bit and have fun with my family.

Imho if there’s a day to be a little lax it’s a holiday like Thanksgiving. Take pics of your plate(s) and log estimates for the food later rather than trying to figure it out at the table. Include an item for scale like a fork stuck in the dressing.

Load your plate up on veggie sides and turkey, eat slow and don’t expect to go back for seconds. But if your aunt’s green bean casserole is like, really good then might as well grab a few more bites since you won’t be eating that again for a year. That’s just my philosophy on it though.

You're doing this in conjunction with a low calorie diet right?
Just off the top of my head I would guess that such a walk would burn 400-500kcal (that could be wildly wrong), fat has 7,700kcal per Kilogram. Those weighted walks absolutely can make the difference over a long period of time but you're not going to see "progress" in a matter of four days. You're not wasting time, it's good exercise.
You might not be able to distinguish progress from that particularly but that habit will make an impact, just be patient, fat loss takes a long time and is very boring.

I would suppose the lower one is more "correct" as I assume theres little difference in actual fat and muscle on your body in two days, it probably just happens you have more food and liquid in you today.
If you must weigh yourself so frequently just accept that its going to be heavily skewed by fluctuations, or weigh yourself every week or two and just watch the downward trend instead of panicking at every fluctuation.

Let's open this up a bit, because it really depends on where you're at. In my mind the getting fit/fat loss/life control journey is all about the relationship of your mind and your body, the two parts that create the "you".

Learning to listen to your body is in a big role. Impulses, sensory data, cravings, pain, injuries, boundaries, trust and overcoming.

People say rest days are important for a reason, and it's sort of playing it safe guidance wise, because it's the baseline that works for everyone. People are in differwnt situations.

Feeling lazy on rest days is a good indicator that the rest days are working & on point. If you'd feel like you can't stop even for one day it's indicating you need a whole deload week. Over- and hyper- are signs of the mental side of fatigue, where pain and tiredness are the physical signs. You need to learn to listen to both sides of the coin. With experience comes the sync, or in other terms you learn your boundaries -> how to push them führer.

Now, do you feel restless because you've totally wrecked your body over the years, feel bad about it & want to fix it asap? Did you go to the other extreme your stupid retarded fat mind thought of? Or are just a skellyfat who could be doing a lot more, since you're only doing the bare minimum? Only you know the answer. But the name of the game is control, balance and climbing the mountain from there. You fat fuck.

Cutting out alcohol has been a massive boost to my weight loss. I used to have like 20 beers a week at one point, that's over 3000 calories right there. I know the body doesn't absorb exactly all of the calories from alcohol but it's a good enough indication that it's good to cut down. Also used to get big carb cravings when I was drunk, which I don't have to deal with now, and hangovers so I couldn't really exercise or be as strict with my diet the day after. I'm going to start drinking again when I've lost the weight but much more moderately, making sure to count every calorie.

In my native language it's literally called a "cooler bag", it's a specially designed satchel with a zipper where the walls are made of some isolating whatver-material to keep the inside cool. You take your salad out of your fridge and put it in the cooler bag with an icepack in the morning and it'll stay fresh all day long guaranteed. Good luck!

Been weird to be on a recovery week since my half marathon and eating kinda more than I usually do. But thanksgiving is thanksgiving, time to eat some dirty shit, and we're back to business tomorrow.

Weight Loss Tech:

0. Track what you eat, weigh everything, count every calorie.

1. Protein. At least 0.8 grams per pound lean body mass. If you expect to be 15% body fat at 170 pounds, then your lean mass is 145 and you want at least 115 grams of protein daily. The 15% BF value is recommended for men. Women should use 25% instead.

2. Fiber. At least 30 grams for women and 40 for men daily.

3. Fat. At least 0.3 grams per pound lean body mass. This translates to at least 30 grams for women and 40 for men daily.

4. Water. Drink half to a full liter with every meal and half a liter between meals. Track your water intake.

5. No foods with a high glycemic index that provide a large portion of their calories from carbs. White bread, bagels, pastries, etc. These elevate blood sugar for a long time which damages your body and causes cravings. Ice cream and chocolate milk are acceptable sweets because they have a lower GI and a large portion of their calories come from fat and protein instead of carbs.

6. If the food is high GI but has a low amount of carbs, you should blunt the blood sugar spike it causes by doing cardio immediately after eating it. An easy way to do this is to walk for at least 30 minutes after the meal.

7. Create a clear delineation between eating and not eating. That means you plan the meal and eat only what you planned, then stop eating for at least 3 hours.

8. Make the best decision you can in the moment. Ultimately losing weight is about eating fewer calories. But failing that, understand that certain foods are absolutely bad and should be avoided even in your binge. GI and carb load is the main criteria.

9. If you are binging, drink 2 or 3 ml water per calorie consumed. This will cut the binge short by about one or two thousand calories. Drink the water before you eat something. This creates a psychological barrier that gradually becomes impossible to overcome as your body cannot stand more water.

I've been on and off lifting for a very long time. From when I turned 17 to 24 I was in the gym religiously. I then started competing in BJJ/Sambo and I cycled a lot. But during covid my gym closed and I lost motivation. I was doing some minor gym during that time, but definitely no routine. I finally got my shit together because I couldn't see the base of my cock and it got me mad.

My thighs and calves are actually massive. I run 3-4 days a week. With average weekly mileage around 30 miles (one 13+ mile run a week) with it going up weekly. So my progress is kinda weird where my upper body is "smaller" than you'd expect at 201, but my legs add weight. I'd say if I had average sized legs, I'd probably be around 180-190.

Two gym days, both upper days with one having some legs as well.

OHP, rear delt flies, and cable flies for the head in the middle. Shoulder shrugs, bicep curls and power curls. Also some cable rows because I like them. I do bench very infrequently and I need to work that into my routine.

I then do preacher crunches on the cable machine thing and good mornings. Definitely the running helped the most for losing weight lol.

Also I occasionally drop in something fun, just depending on what I want to hit that day.

Counting calories is probably more important in a bulk than in a cut, especially if you want a very lean bulk: it is very easy to overdo the surplus, or fall short, you need to be very precise. At least with cuts, if you feel like eating much less one day that's completely fine.

The doctor who prescribed me said "You need to go on a 1200 calorie diet for the rest of your life if you want to be at a healthy BMI" I'm a construction worker, that doesn't work long term if my body is screaming I'm sore. I'm not super confident even with this glp1 this is going to work as when I was in serious calorie restrictions before (2000-2400 calories a day) I would basically not move on my days off while I recovered.

I am convinced it is impossible to gain significant weight on keto. I have started munching on pork rinds whenever I'm hungry, probably adding ~300-500 calories a day above my TDEE in pork rinds and I have gained 1 pound in the last 3 weeks.
I'm also lifting 4x a week, so even that 1 pound is probably 30-40% muscle.
