>Who is /fat/ for?
For grateful gluttons working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
Eat more meat.
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros) or LoseIt (great for both).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 1g per lb of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and burn fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body burning away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat hyper-processed foods.
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

i'm back here after about 2 years of slipping backwards. tell me what recipes are in your rotation. i'll start: using a crock pot throw in tomatoes, corn, white beans, red beans, and chicken breast. cook on low for 10 hours then shred the chicken. i usually add some cheese which makes this about 680 calories per bowl and yields 4 bowls. i use canned shit to make counting calories easier and because its cheap

Last thread ended right on my question damn it.

Alright, what is something cheap and ready to eat straight out of the package that I can consume exclusively and supplement with vitamins? Tuna was my planned based off someone else's post but I don't want to fuck myself up with excessive mercury consumption, as whatever I pick will become my sole meal for a few weeks.

Don't fall for the long cut into bulk meme, fatizen. It's a trap. Your hormones will be shot after a long cut cycle and if you start bulking you'll regain most fat.
Do a maintenance phase and learn how to lift. At least two months of learning how to lift properly, and then your body will be primed to build muscle.
Trust your fellow former fatties.
Good morning to all

I've made it bros, I hit my goal weight, for the last year or so I've eaten nothing but boneless skinless chicken breasts and a couple heads of broccoli everyday as the only thing I eat all day, but now I'm 60lbs lighter and I'm on maintenance and I don't have a 1500kcal limit anymore, I spend 2000kcal now and man its so freeing, 500kcals to spend and so many options.

First thing I did was swapped the boneless skinless chicken breast with chicken leg quarter, a lot more fat sure, and it wiped out like 350kcals for just this one change, but man they taste so much better than breasts and they're so much cheaper too. I got 31 from the butcher, a month's supply for $53, like holy fuck that's so much cheaper than skinless breasts, a months supply of breasts was costing me like $120~130.

I've still got like 200kcals I can spend, not sure what else to add to my daily meal.

Bro get a hobby, that's how you find friends, masturbating and playing video games alone in your room doesn't count as a hobby either. Find something you can do with other people outside your house. Look around your area, there's probably all sorts of stuff, sports, community activities, game stores, DnD, Warhammer, model kits, R/C cars/planes, fishing, boating, diving, whatever you go out, you engage with the hobby, you make friends with other guys and maybe even gals who like these things you like.

>>
>>76959986
then you're dieting wrong retard

try this, it's trivially easy
>200g of tuna (not canned, a proper tuna steak, probably Ahi)
>600-800g of carrots, potatos, golden beets
>dice the veggies, toss them with a tablespoon of olive oil and some salt and pepper
>lay them out flat on a baking sheet, bake for 40 minutes at 400
>when there's 10 minutes left on the veggies start setting up for the tuna
>use the leftover oil from tossing the veggies and a silicon brush to very lightly oil a small frying pan
>lightly salt both sides of the tuna
>heat the pan until the olive oil (there should only be like a teaspoon) begins to smoke
>sear the tuna for 2-3 minutes per side, optionally searing the edges (I don't, I think the fact you can see the cooking gradient on the edge is neat)
the center of the tuna should be raw, the seared surfaces should be just starting to brown

plate and serve with a tall glass of 2% milk

impeccable macros, low calorie, high protein, and restaurant quality
>>
>>76959988
Most fast food places will actually have calories and sometimes macros on their website for the whole menu, you can eat relatively well even if you're reliant on drive-throughs

I'd say pepperoni sticks are good snacks but watch the sodium, any sort of low fat cheese is going to have a decent protein to calorie ratio, canned tuna in moderation, you can technically eat canned chicken straight from the can but that's kinda barbaric

Counting calories is a tool towards your end goal. What is your goal? How big are you? What's your activity level? There are certain recommendations, such as ~2g BroTeen per kg of lean mass, ~75g of good quality fat (hormones) and carbs you shift to supplement your woekout levels.

Buy ground beef and green chili and potatoes. You will actually be full.

>I watched some videos to only do light exercises during a fast. How true is this?
your body can't recomp all muscle that's broken down during a fast because it isn't getting protein. You want to avoid heavy weight lifting because you realistically won't be able to recover until you start eating, and it's not well studied how muscle growth happens (if at all) during a fast.

Light exercise is good. Not enough to significantly break down muscle fibers, but enough to stimulate them and trigger muscle synthesis which will prevent atrophy. Just stick to cardio and very low volume light lifting. On days that I fast I try to walk 2-3 hours.
>>
anyone here using myfitnesspal?
Im just checking it out today, seems to be good for tracking calories and all the nutrients.
Also, the app recommends 2.5L of water per day. Whats the deal with water anyway? I know that all the gymgoers talk about drinking lots of water, what are the benefits, at the risk of sounding stupid?

Since Thanksgiving my diet has been in a perilous state, as much as I'd like to blame my family for being nice and giving me delicious food to stuff my face with obviously the root of the matter lies in me for lacking self control and allowing these calories to enter my body with my consent. Socially accept norm. Just a few millimeters of bone. No acne or anything like that. I have a few scars on my face, one of which is on my lip, from when I got attacked by a dog but they aren't that serious. It's mostly just bone structure like sunken eyes etc.
>>
>>76960531
Have you tried going to a dermatologist or using any creams or anything like that to speed up healing?
>>
>the bad fat is the fat you can't see lol
How do I know how much visceral fat I have without fancy machines?
I doubt my scale is accurate
>>
>>76960536
Like I said before the scars aren't an issue. If anything they probably make me look cooler than I am. It's just the bone structure.

So i just tracked my first day
Looks like i eat way too much sodium. Is that a health risk?
Fiber and iron are a bit low, too, but thats fixable. Carbs are also at 60ish percent, is there any benefit in increasing carb intake for weightloss?
>>
>>76960645
Good work brother. You have a solid frame. You will look pissening once you put on some more muscle.

>Loose skin, gyno & stretch marks: https://weight-loss-side-effects.netlify.app/
there is no mention of fasting for loose skin here. i heard that it can help, is it true? i am 240lb should be 180lb maybe 190lb. if i fast 2 days per week would that help my body "eat" the useless cells through autophagy?
>>
>>76960758
No fasting is a meme that doesn't work.
>>
I'm thinking of taking a break from working out, just doing cardio till i reach closer to my weight goal, I cant deal with all the stalls the inflamation and water retention resistance training is causing. I got like 15-20kg to go, then start going to the gym after? Is this retarded?

Autophagy happens even if you do intermittent fasting for 16-19hours between meals and just eat once a day. You don't need to fast for long periods.

congrats on reaching small anon!
>>
>>76959691
i did this once by being poor. you have to starve. you can't eat at all.
downsides:
- you become very aggressive and cruel while starving
- your work suffers greatly because you are thinking about food
- if you can get food, you will do that instead of starving. willpower is out of the question
- as soon as you start eating again you'll gain it all right back. it will be harder to lose it next time.

>Gained 3 pounds since then
I knew the rebound would be hard, but this is brutal man. Especially when you
A)Told your body that it just needed to "wait" a certain goal
B)Did it out of purely ego to show that you COULD lose 90 pounds rather than actually caring about health or appearance
C)There being no second goal so now you're just directionless eating.

I'm unironically eating more than I did before, just without the candy..

I used to be vegan and was overweight and always binging, now I'm on keto (carnivore of course) and staying on a deficit is super easy. I still care about the animals but I'll worry about them again when I'm super fit, I guess
>>
>>76961117
New goal should be to eat at maintenance for a month. Sprinkle as.
>>
>>76961130
I don't know how well that will work. I mean it was already getting falling apart since August and was getting exponentially worse by the month. December was horrific as it felt like I was a starving village boy lol
>>
>>76961138
I mean... when you eat at maintenance you ideally shouldnt be hungry cause you are eating enough.
>>
>>76961088
yes it is
just CICO isn't for everyone. i've tried it for 3 months and stalled for 2 of them after 14lbs drop in the first month.
now, i've broken my 2 months stall.
i don't have cold feet nor do i feel COLD anymore.
i do feel weaker and light headed if i stand up fast though.
>>
Apparently if I eat at BMR I'll only lose 3lbs a month, is losing weight really that slow?
>>
>hit new lowest weight only because I woke up very dehydrated and took a piss AND a shit
>will take me almost two weeks to hit that lowest weight again due to fat loss without being dehydrated
it makes me spreadsheet look like a roller coaster or that I stalled for a couple weeks even though I haven’t
>>

what do you binge on as a vegan?
rice and eggs?

Lots of rice, bread, pasta, noodles, mock dairy, mock meat, dumplings, pastries, and more importantly desserts (very easy to make desserts vegan). I spent too much money on food.

Ive burnt myself out. Running, walking, gym and cycling, always while on a pretty big deficit. /fat/ties, just got a DEXA scan and partially crashing out.
For overview:
>6'5
>Worked down from 300lbs
>Now 190
>Have gotten strong, 4pl skwat for 8
>Get a DEXA scan from a sketchy rape van on the street (bodyspec)
>Sez I'm only at abt 147lbs lean mass, 37lbs fat mass
>Already having sleep issues at a 500cal deficit with additional fasted cardio
>Their stats comparing me against other clients (this introduces a selection bias against trained, lean people) says I'm trash
Is the roughly 150 at 190 that bad? Or is this just a decent foundation? I'm trying not to crash out and grok on x states that, if it adjust my height down, my LMI index is solidly athletic but everything is just stretched out and it seems paltry due to the height.

eggs are an IQ test for vegans, if they claim to be vegan for moral reason but don't eat backyard eggs from pampered chickens they're objectively wrong on utilitarian grounds

(If they claim to be vegan for health reasons they're also wrong because eggs are healthier than any pea protein slop)
>>
>>76961296
Is that cope I hear?
>>
>>76961282
21% body fat? not too bad pretty average. you have a large frame at 6'5" so you could stand to be like 200-220+ lbs and lean. lots of room to put on muscle
>>
>>76961282
Well, it's not bad... could be worse. But 147 is tiny. Tiny tiny tall man. How's your ohp, bench and dødlyft? Maybe stop the deficit and go HC into recomp?
>>
>>76961299
>vegan saying cope
your identity consists of consuming ultraprocessed cope versions of natural foods because you've deluded yourself, I'll eat the eggs you don't and I'll be healthier than you for it lmao
>>
>>76961308
read as 19.3% but running my tape measurements and calipers through grok and having it use RFM to compensate for height suggested 17.5% so I'm just a little butt-hurt.
I still look decent but keeping a ton of fat on my torso (trunk reading at 21.8% ffs) but allegedly being taller causes the illusion of a slightly lower bf %

>>76961309
I haven't OHP'd in awhile due to shoulder issues but last time I did I managed a PR of 150 for 7, now I do pec deck superset incline bench at about 220x8 then 135 x 3. 45lbs for 5 on side delt raises.
Deadlift is shit because of spinal injury but the 4pl skwat is real which is why this is so confusing. I've also maxed out our tricep extension machine at 200lbsx9 and have to superset bodyweight dips after.

1) don't snack
2) if you have to, popcorn (lesser evil is organic and uses coconut oil which is thermobolic- but don't forget that popcorn is very carcinogenic due to PHAs and aldehydes from the popping process.

that's fucking great, anon.
just keep lifting while maxing out protein.
idk if you want to be in deficit or not. theoretically speaking, you don't have to be in deficit but if you don't like the way you look and are unwilling/unable to lift more, just stay in deficit.
your squat is pretty high. especially at your height. so i wouldn't push my luck if i were you.

Hey anons. If I'm fasting purely for weight loss should I be doing rolling 48's or 72's? I realize I'll lose a bit more doing 72's but I hate the brain fog with 72's.

I'm eating garbage food and never feel hungry and I lost, like, 12kg in the last two months

AND I've lost 20kg in 5 months TWICE in the past several years (I do be like that, I eat then cut, eat and cut, don't ask). It's WAY easier to lose fat with these drugs. I don't even do cardio anymore, I just don't need it
