Who is /fat/ for?
For Corn Consumers who are working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros) or LoseIt (great for both).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

1 hour walking or *leisurely* swimming (I tried doing laps on a rest day once and that's a mistake), lots of hydration, stick to your calorie cap but maybe reward yourself with slop that fits your macros like a burger or half a pizza (which will help restore your glycogen if you're usually low-carb)
>>
>>77025915
Not a lot, only light. No protein means muscles aren't repaired. Fasting protects muscles from autophagy, but only if they're not used. If you break them the bosy uses them for fuel.
>>
>>77025966
hm I found an expired protein bar with 12g of fiber and trail mix. I hope this doesn't fuck my ass this week.

I started taking metamucil to poop everyday. But every time I eat a big fiber I cant poop at all.
>>
>>77025969
Dang. Ok, thank you. I might only walk next time then as jogging might be breaking them down a bit.

I have a question about weightloss patterns.

I've noticed, I'll go for a few days consistently dropping weight - (0.6lb/0.4kg) then it will pause, and then go up around + (0.6lb/0.4kg) for maybe 3 - 4 days, I continue to keep diet the same and workouts the same. Then weight starts dropping again.

What is the reason for this pattern?
>>
>>77025850
it will be over soon if you don't fix your shit
good news is that you can very easily lose a couple hundred lbs just by not being fed like a pig, just by eating what a normal sized person eats, not even feeling hunger in the slightest
you would probably save a fuckton of money too

For a lot of people that big, it’s usually not them, it’s usually enablers who are either too weak-willed to accept that they’re killing the person they love, or are malicious and are trying to ruin a life because they’re a piece of shit.
>>
>>77025970
>But every time I eat a big fiber I cant poop at all
I know this well. I upped my protein and didnt poop for 3 days and freaked out and started eating all the meme fiber foods and really got jammed up for a while. Was pooping rocks and bleeding out from massive shits that were too big for my butthole for months until I cut back on fiber, and even on veg to be honest and started eating more meats, dairy and sourdough. I still have oats with a bit of fruit for breakfast everyday, and shit fine now.

Coffee in the morning is OP. I can skip breakfast entirely by having a good coffee before work. I think this might take my fatloss to the next level as well as giving me an extra 20mins of sleep in the morning.

if you're poor and not hitting your protein goals, it just fills you up without affecting hunger like it does to me.
it's a really shitty feeling being full but still super hungry.

I don't enjoy salad, I'd rather just eat another head of broccoli or a bowl of blueberries.

water retention. stress from dieting and working out makes your body hold onto extra water. then it randomly decides to release it.

depends on what sweetener it uses. some are bad for your gut health, apparently, others are fine.
the caffeine helps a bit with weight loss and reduces appetite. 4-6 liters has quite a bit, you might wanna cut back a bit. or swap it out for non-caffeinated ones.
if you stop you might get cravings for sweet things.
you can keep drinking diet soda cola, unless you are getting bad side effects or need to stop for another reason.

Day 22/60 of water fast.

Clothing feels really loose, I'm excited. Hunger pangs are rare but they last very little and don't really make me feel like eating anyways. I feel good but the worst part is that my rare shits are fucking RANCID, which I'm assuming is just my gut bile and stuff since well, I'm not eating lol.

>>
>>77026382
I have no idea since the scale I bought doesn't work. But as long as I see this belly, I'm too big to stop. Take this with a grain of salt but I did get weighed a few weeks before I started and I was around ~310lbs. I'm now able to wear a sweater that was very comfortable when I was ~270lbs. So I think I may be around 280s so maybe 30lbs lost or so given I'm very fat, short, water weight loss, and walking everyday on top of fasting.

The fatter you are the easier it is to lose weight.

If you just ate a regular diet, say 2000 calories, you would lose a ton of weight.

Dr. Now would put you on a 1200 calorie diet though.
>>
>>77025915
damn that's impressive anon. The longest I've done was 5 days, and I was able to work out in the gym pretty comfortably days 1-2, but for days 3-5 I just walked for like an hour at a comfortable pace instead. Worked great for me and didn't get any headaches or classic fasting exercise symptoms
>>
>clenbuterol just arrived

>>
>>77026370
Water fast hitting your guts is something worth looking it. I got COVID back when that was fashionable and couldn't even smell food without getting nauseous. Eventually, after I couldn't keep down what I forced myself to eat, I stopped being hungry.

This went on for about five months, with the longest period between eating being a solid 20 days. I eventually stopped shitting, I think due to a lack of fiber, and even cold water on a completely empty stomach was enough to make me hurl.
Towards the end, I started to get vertigo and one of my eyes was bouncing to the point where I had trouble with my vision unless I closed it.

But, I ended up losing over 100 pounds in just a few months and have kept it off since.
>>
>>77026109

>shits are fucking RANCID, which I'm assuming is just my gut bile and stuff since well, I'm not eating lol.
that same shit happened to me, except they weren't rare. I'd have like 3-4 of those mini-shits a day, just bile. I also lost the ability to fart entirely, any time I got that urge to do so I had to go to the toilet because it'd be more bile

>>
>>77026564
eh not a big deal it's like 800 calories. you are probably better off just eating at your regular deficit today, there are gonna be days when you go over but consistency over a long period of time is how you lose weight

>>
>>77026573
I looked it up, it's 1200kcal. I didn't eat a lot yesterday and went for a walk, so I probably went over my TDEE for just a few hundred kcal. Nonetheless, I want to try fasting for today and keep doing keto tomorrow.

Last time I did DEXA, i was at 35% BF at 87,5kg and the last time I did a BIA, I was at 77kg at 23% BF. I'm now at 78kg but feel like my BF% is a bit higher than it was. My current goal is to aggressively get to a decent body fat level and then slow down and do things the proper way.

>>77026612
I haven't tried it like that... When I dated the two women, the other was 17 and the other 20. I broke things off with the younger one, and went drinking with the other one (who was my coworker). As I got home the younger one had sneaked in, had gotten herself suicidal drunk on my vodka. I was shitfaced also. She was wearing a gothic loli outfit, her reasoning was to win me back. Anxiousness and alcohol made her throw up on herself. I had to call the other lady, now my (then) girlfriend to help me. She came, cleaned her up. They talked. I guess that was the closest to such I've come. It needs that, an age gap or some other difference in power dynamics. I mean I do fantasize about having a younger side missus per hand... but reality has shown me it's not feasible. The problem with the manifestation one was actually just that, I had to be ready to share our bed with a 3rd person (woman) for only sexual purposes. Writing all this, I'm sure if the stars would align, the three people would be three pieces of the same, why the fuck not.
>>
>>77026627
That sounds amazing and scary at the same time, but yeah equal love among the three is the only way it could work, having that extra love to help push you through bad times, imagine getting them both pregnant at the same time, watching both kids grow up and what not, though that conversation with them will be a little weird when they get older.

Not happy with my weight today, but choosing to be grateful for what my body can do differently compared to a few months ago.
My school’s skiing club had their first official meet last night. Was able to ski for almost 4 hours straight with no pain, didn’t fall once, and was almost too toasty despite it being 0° thanks to my layering system.
Mobility has definitely improved. Wasn’t able to walk/skate 30 mins without being in pain or tired previously.
>>
>>77026887
You don't get to decide what is sustainable and what isn't for me, you fucking nigger loser. I've already lost 12kg (26 lbs in burgerland numbers), my motivation dropped but I could maintain my weight for 6 months, only gaining about 7 lbs back, which I've already lost. I might even reach my lowest of all time tomorrow or the day after. Meanwhile, knowing you are from America, you are probably still a fucking land whale who break every chair you'd sit if you were at a decent country.

reminder that there is more to weight loss than just eat less and move more
>The obese and control subjects required comparable caloric intakes: 1432 +/- 32 kcal/m2/d vs 1341 +/- 33 kcal/m2/d, respectively. Following weight loss, the reduced-obese subjects required only 1021 +/- 32 kcal/m2/d, a 28% decrease (P less than 0.001) in requirements relative to their obese state and a 24% decrease relative to the control patients (P less than 0.001)
>The mean individual energy requirement of the reduced-obese subjects (2171 kcal/d) was less than that for the control subjects (2280 kcal/d) despite the fact that they still weighed 60% more than the controls. In order to maintain a reduced weight, some reduced-obese or even partially reduced patients must restrict their food intake to approximately 25% less than that anticipated on the basis of metabolic body size.

reminder that relapsing and gaining weight back is not the result of fatties just liking food too much.
the hormones are fucked and they know shit all about them so instead of saying they don't know, they just blame patients.
>Conclusions
>One year after initial weight reduction, levels of the circulating mediators of appetite that encourage weight regain after diet-induced weight loss do not revert to the levels recorded before weight loss. Long-term strategies to counteract this change may be needed to prevent obesity relapse.
>Results
>Weight loss (mean [±SE], 13.5±0.5 kg) led to significant reductions in levels of leptin, peptide YY, cholecystokinin, insulin (P<0.001 for all comparisons), and amylin (P=0.002) and to increases in levels of ghrelin (P<0.001), gastric inhibitory polypeptide (P=0.004), and pancreatic polypeptide (P=0.008). There was also a significant increase in subjective appetite (P<0.001). One year after the initial weight loss, there were still significant differences from baseline in the mean levels of leptin (P<0.001), peptide YY (P<0.001), cholecystokinin (P=0.04), insulin (P=0.01), ghrelin (P<0.001), gastric inhibitory polypeptide (P<0.001), and pancreatic polypeptide (P=0.002), as well as hunger (P<0.001).

Hey, fellow fatsos, last week I came here bitching I couldn't go past day 3 of dieting, with your guys replies as help, I came with a plan of slowly but surely decreasing calories, maintenance at week one, -500 at week two, -800 at week 3 onwards.

Well, I'd like to report that a week and a half in, so far, the plan has been going well, I already started on the actual cut of daily -500 kcal, and so far noticed a few benefits

>some water weight lost
>blood pressure slightly lower
>better hunger management and overall discipline

This might not look like much, but personally, it's a huge victory personally, it's been so long since I've seen the scale actually go down, even if it's not actual fat just yet. I was genuinely losing hope of staying a fat fast food addict forever, but now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm not in the best position to give out advice, but here's one to anyone who's having trouble: start slow, really slow if needed, like I did, some of us aren't disciplined enough to switch gears out of nowhere like some anons here.

Anyway, I'll keep the momentum going and hopefully lose all the weight by the end of the year. WAGMI.

How to lose 200lbs by the end of the year, by fellow formerly obese (but not super-obese) anon:
- Start skipping breakfast OR dinner
- Dial up protein, aim for at least 200g a day
- Try to move at least an hour a day, if this means getting one of those liddle under-desk bikes, or you going to a pool and wading around, just do it

Your position is untenable but luckily it's really easy to lose weight when you're a giant pig.
IRONMAN OPTION:
Start a waterfast (check out the old /fast/ thread archives) and don't eat for a month and see where you land, we had a guy go from 360 to 290 in a month.
>>
>>77027361
Way to go anon. Keep it up, I hope you post some more updates.
Definitely good advice to start slow. A lot of us myself included are quick to jump to crazy shit: OMAD, fasting, keto, etc but it usually ends in failure because it's such a drastic change. Ever since I just started following serving sizes more closely and allowing myself to have my usual meals per day but sticking to 1600-1800 calories weight loss has become more feasible.

couple it with the famous study of The Biggest Loser program follow up study and at the very least one should be suspicious of just eat less and move more, brah.

You not only sound like a raging fattie, but also homo and brown. You are the fucking toddler. Read what he wrote. If you are dense to understand it just hide his posts. You didn't lose shit, you're a fucking crab bucket fat bastard who preys people in a self-help thread. You belong in a basement with no access or means to communicate with other living things.

Obviously they lost muscle mass because they are retarded and didnt eat high protein or work out during weightloss.

I've lost 50 pounds, how did losing an inch from my waist and 2 inches from my neck make my BF% go up?

>>
Wait, so you weigh the food before or AFTER it's cooked?
>>
>>77027922
Before, cause you don't know how much water it's going to lose. Also if it's mixed with other stuff, you'd have to separate it to weight it out which doesn't make sense.
>>
>>77027928
so how you niggas weigh and cook exactly, and how will you know how much to put on your plate if you cooked before? it only works if you ONLY cook what you're gonna eat right after cooking, leaving no space for meal prep/later repetitions
>>
My scale is saying 1.4kg more than it did 3 days ago and I don't like it. I was 100% in a deep deficit every day, too. Can eating salty stuff really make me keep like 2 kilograms of water more?
>>
>>77027933
Yes, easily. Working out muscles you dont typically use can also cause water retention from inflammation.

Might not work for all recipes but here's how I do it.
1. Make a recipe in the app I'm using, weigh all ingredients and make the unit 1 serving.
2. Before eating, measure out the biggest calorie item, in this case it's the chicken breast.
3. If I've measured 110g, then that's 110/350 ≈ 0.32 servings
4. Add a bit extra to account for the water loss to 0.4, eyeball the low calorie stuff like the broth and veggies in this case when you add it to your plate.
5. Once you've eaten everything you've made, tally your log entries and if it isn't 1.0, then adjust them and learn how to eyeball better next time.

fatties have bigger calves because they carry extra weight.
why did you ignore the study about The Biggest Loser? they regained the weight but not the metabolic rate.
and we are fatties too so what other fatties experience is important because we have higher chances of experiencing it as well.
>>
>>77027964
Yeah but this only works if you're gonna eat only what you just cooked, you know?
>>
>>77027969
if you cook up 1kg of ground beef and eat it in 4 similar sized servings, you can just log eat serving as 250g.
if you forgot how much it was, just weigh the cooked version and use the cooked data.
if it was mixed in a recipe, you can calculate it by making a recipe of the data and using serving sizes of the whole recipe.
after lots of weighing you can get decent at eye-balling it and approximating the weight too.

>>
>>77028283
I'm a big "if you can make the macros work" advocate and my favorite cutting foods are pizza, burgers, steak, and big seared tuna cuts

Premier Protein shakes with milk and berries are also S tier it takes like drinking an ice cream
>>
If I was to eat at maintenence for a while to metabolically reset from a long cut how long does that take? Is it worth doing or should I just keep grinding down weight linearly?
>>
What is with strangers thinking its acceptable to call you "big guy"? It was fine when i was younger but now its just obnoxious.

>my favorite cutting foods are pizza, burgers, steak, and big seared tuna cuts
Where do you get your pizza? That's the one food that I can't fit in my diet on a cut since there's not much protein.

>Premier Protein shakes with milk and berries are also S tier it takes like drinking an ice cream
I'll try that.
One of my favorite ways of eating my shakes recently has been eating 2 servings of the cookies and cream protein cheerios with the 30g protein 150 calorie fairlife instead of using milk. Tastes like a dessert and hits my macro goal of 10g of protein per 100 cals.

>>77028309
You don't have to "metabolically reset" your metabolism. Just do what works for you. Either one long cut to your goal weight or multiple small cuts.
>>
>>77028345
>Where do you get your pizza? That's the one food that I can't fit in my diet on a cut since there's not much protein.

103.6 kg

I came back after months, having gained even more weight. My weight chart is genuinely embarrassing and disappointing -just like my life. Although there have been ups and downs over the past 7 months, in the end I’ve stayed exactly where I am -just like I have in life for the past ten years. People I know are moving up in their careers, getting promotions, buying houses, buying cars, starting families, while I’m standing still. I know it’s impossible for me to compete with the normies but I’ve been falling short of even my own standards. Using my weight as an excuse, I withdrew from life far too much and I reduced my already minimal social relationships to zero and lost my entire network. Anyways what’s done is done. But at the very least I want to achieve my weight goal. Maybe if I manage to do that I can regain my self-respect and see a positive impact on other areas of my life as well. I still have some hope that I can get things back on track. We’re all gonna make it brothers.

because that's not a good way to do it. It's not sustainable and uses too much willpower instead you should split what ever extra you ate into smaller deficits so say you usually eat 1900 a day for the next 4 days eat 1650. You will succeed the first few times to cope the 800 cals days, but over time this will not work because you just won't do it. You will find a way to justify that day instead of keeping yourself accountable. You know this and you're even here pretending that you don't
