Bet u use grips unstead of a metal bar
>>
>>77099921
You telling me niggas be squealing about 1/2/3/4 and can’t do at least 5 pull ups?
>>
>>77099921
6' 230lbs(would probably be 200lbs lean) and I can do 3x12 with good form and no problem.

Then again, I only had a pull up bar when I started fitfag journey so that may be it.
>>
193cm 97kg I can do 3x8. Feel like im stuck
>>
>>77099921
I cannot do a pullup. Please help.
>>
>>77099990
do more
>>77100001
try harder
>>
>>77100001
Can you jump to the top with your chin over the bar? Do that and try to hold it for at least 5 seconds and then slowly lower yourself. Do not let go until you completely deadhang and let your scapula disengage. Keep doing that. Lower yourself SLOWLY you need to really focus on the negative.
Do that 5x5 and you should build up the neuromuscular motion relatively quickly.
Also do different variations of body weight rows. This is very easy on something like a smith machine where you can adjust height to preference and desired difficulty.
>>
>>77100022
I have a problem with going from deadhang to half bent elbow more than a couple of times. Feels like there's a kink/bump at a point somewhere there I have trouble with moving over. Would this still help?
>>
>>77100079
Make sure you stretch a lot and effectively too. You need full rotator cuff mobility. You should be able to clasp both hands together behind your back.
Work on the negative transition from engaging the lats/scapula with elbows slightly bent in(the start of a pullup) to completely disengaging ALL muscles except your grip. Your scapula should turn to the side and your elbows should then be completely locked out. It’s actually a good exercise to go from engage to disengage and vice versa since the beginning of the rep seems to be a weak point for most people.
>>
>>77100079
Nobody sane does deadhang pullups
>>
I can do 7 at 210lbs
>>
>>77100079
Are you trying to pull your shoulders from their sockets? Because that's the only thing you're gonna achieve by starting from a dead hang position. Go to lowest point where you still feel your lats and pull up
>>
>>77100001
Just do pulldowns until you can roughly pull down your own weight
>>
>>77100001
do multiple deadhangs a day until you can do a one minute deadhang. it might take a you a month

i was able to do a chin up after i was able to do a one minute deadhang

i didn't need to do reverse pull ups or any of that dumb shit
>>
>>77100314
lol. lmao even.

Friendly reminder that you do NOT need your chin to go above the bar to count as a full rep. Up to your forehead is perfectly fine
>>
>>77100628
it's harder to get your head above the bar with a pull up
that's why i prefer chin ups
>>
>>77100628
Your front delts should touch the bar
>>
>>77100628
it would have been more impressive if he had done wide grip ones
>>
>>77100001
pull up
>>
>>77100628
Weak fag.
Real pull up is chest to bar
>>
I remember years ago when I got my first pull-up bar and couldn't do a single pull-up.
I had it set up on my bedroom door and everytime I'd go to take a piss/get a drink/whatever I'd do 5 negative reps as slow as I possible could and then coming back I'd do 5 reps of the highest I could pull.
I got my first pull-up within a couple days and once you've got one, the reps come pretty quickly after that.
Same deal with ring dips.

Someone post world's "strongest" "men" doing pullups.

All just to climb a V2
>>
>>77100607
thats hyper lazy
>>
>>77100798
i had weak grip strength. it took me a month to build up enough grip strength to hold on to the bar

i weighed 195 pounds and i had never worked out before
>>
>>77100951
i was also 39 years
>>
>>77100607
>i didn't need to do any of that dumb shit

There is nobody on this planet who can do 1234 but cant do 5 pullups. Think before you make a post you stupid gorilla.

Legit why? That's how you get the most stimulus out of them.
>>
>>77100607
>can maybe do 50sec of deadhang on a good day
>can do 3 pull ups and 6 chin ups
Checkmate
>>
>>77099933
Slightly. Only because I tear up my hands constantly throughout the week and it's better to give it a rest.
Deadlifts, rock climbing, farmers carries, literally everything I do affects my grip and forearms, so if I used a metal bar I'd just tear up my hands even more.
>>
>>77100280
If youre under 6'2" then thats impressive.
>>
Pullups on rings feel great
>>
>>77101058
you build grip strength with dead hangs
you don't build grip strength with reverse pull ups because you are not on the bar long enough

dead hangs are more effective at getting someone to do a chin up

i would recommend chin ups first. they are easier than pull ups
>>
>>77101082
Why are clear artificial chat scripts allowed to run rampant all over this board?
>>
>>77099921
I can do over ten of these in a row and I can't even bench one plate.
>>
>>77099921
I know a guy who is convinced he will get a fitness influencer level physique with nothing but pullups and pushups.
>>
>>77102984

>>
>>77102987
Did it work?
>>
>>77099921
pretty overrated. I was doing 90lb weighted pullups and made very little gains. Barbell rows grew my back so much more
>>
5'10'', 180lbs

my back day is 100 pull ups over the course of 30 minutes. 6 x 15 reps, 1 x 10 reps

then i do 3 x 15 dumbbell rows because just doing pull ups for back day got too easy.
>>
>>77100001
I've casually coached quite a few people on achieving their first pullups and they made very fast progress.
>start with chin ups first since it's probably going to be far easier
>do some dead hangs, then try negatives - using a chair or something to start at the top and control the descent as slow as possible, within a few days you'll usually start getting your first chinups, then do the same process with pullups
Biggest thing on form is mainly mental. It sounds obvious, but I see alot of people who are clearly visualizing it wrong. They think they need to pull the sternum/neck up to the bar, whereas you should be thinking instead about ripping down with the elbows. Sounds silly but once you see it it's huge. It's a bit of a 2 part lift as well, from a relaxed dead hang you've first got to kinda pull the shoulders back, get the beginning of your lift from your massive back muscles, pulling yourself up like half an inch, but with a ton of force and using that momentum to carry yourself the rest of the way up, by "ripping down with the elbows".
>>
>>77099934
>10 bw
>5 1pl8
Idk either
>>
>>77103448
Btb pull downs and high 90 degree rows. I can rear delt fly 70s like air I think I just have leverages.
>>
>>77099921
Never did pull ups but when I started doing them a couple of months back I went from barely crossing 3-4 to 20 in 2 weeks, don't know what got into my lats
my deadhangs were always good however ,around 3 minutes
>>
>>77100628
Didn't Ellen eat kids? No surprises
>>
>>77099921
Tomorrow I'm finally gonna do weighted pull ups with 1pl8 for the first time. A year ago when I was a fatty I couldn't hit 4 reps with just my bodyweight. I'm so happy bros, thanks for reading my diary.
>>
>>77104539
That's very good. How much do you weigh now?
>>
>>77104548
Around 156 lbs. I lost 30lbs
>>
>>77104566
If you manage to progress with weight on the Pullups it will be smooth sailing right now.
>>
>>77099933
That is not the reason why we can do pull-ups while your weak and or fat ass cannot.
>>
>>77100785
Pretty impressive for a woman. I want to marry her
>>
>>77100602
Awful advice btw
