>Who is /fat/ for?
For Beach Bloatlords who are working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.

Maybe crackers with cream cheese?
Beef jerky is too expensive here.

I usually just snack while prepping dinner to alleviate the slight dizziness in my head while I wait for the food to be done. I used to snack on tortilla chips, but it's very easy to overeat compared to jelly beans, but now I'm worried that the sugar will give me diabetes eventually.
Plus the sour gummies only cost me around $7 a week, so it's really easy on my poorfag wallet.

Even if it has 3000kcal or 30000kcal, it doesn't really matter. A ketogenic diet cripples you to the point where you can't do basic physical activities, feel good or think straight. You're better off with ozempic than with this.

For ketolards. Keto works if you combine in with CICO. I have a fucked up visceral fat. I had to stop drinking for 5 weeks to start clearing it up. The whole dumbfuck meme that you can eat 4000 kcal a day and lose weight as long as it is low carb is fucking insane. You are only making it easier for the liver by lowering sugar intake but it will still have to work hard to process protein and dietary fat. The reason why keto works is two fold: 1) it removes some of the high calorie foods like breads, fruit and milk chocolate; 2) it forces you to eat foods that are very low in sugar but are generally low calorie unless you eat them in very large amounts. It's generally not that easy to swallow a kilo of beef steak, and 400-500 grams will keep you satiated for a day normally. Another thing is plants. Root "plants" like potatoes and carrots are generally higher in calories and sugars, but if you stick to leafy greens like spinach, broccoli or cauliflower you'll have way less than tubers or wheat. Also they are very low calorie. An important caveat is dairy: ketolards who drink milk forget that lactose in milk is also a sugar, just like fructose (fruits) or starch glucose (from grains and tubers). That's why milk requires fermentation, preferrably those long ass aged hard cheeses like fermentation to reduce the number of carbs in milk to a keto-friendly level. Same goes with nearly all bacon/salami/sausage products out there. Look closely at the contents and you will see either corn flour, starch or dextrose. Preserved meat requires some added carbs for the bacteria that dehydrates it to get attracted to it before the meat starts to rot. Bacon is just starched up pork. You're better off eating raw ground pork for the freezer. But don't be fooled. Just because you keep your carb intake below 30, 20 or even 10 g a day, won't make you lean unless you lower your calorie intake significantly enough.
>>
Maybe I'll go with crackers, tuna and a bit of mayo for the snack I guess.
>>
>>77234242
What's wrong with pure refined sugar?
>>
>>77234234
I should also add, eating a shitton of meat especially organ meat is poisoning your blood. DNA molecules aka purines will pile up in your blood and cause purine salt layers in your joint. Result? Painful arthritis known as Gout. The way your body processes protein is by breaking it into useful amino acids in the stomach, that's why protein is so highly recommended by doctors. Those amino acids are needed for muscle growth and plenty of other stuff, but they need to be purified of nitrogen by the liver. Unlike carbs (sugars) the excess protein is not converted into glycogen to become body fat, but it is converted into ammonia- which is a poison. That's where you need healthy liver - that ammonia is converted into urea. Urea is excreted when you piss. If you notice that you started going to the joint more frequently than usual it's a warning sign you need to calm down on the protein.

>That's why milk requires fermentation, preferrably those long ass aged hard cheeses like fermentation to reduce the number of carbs in milk to a keto-friendly level.
Another note here: milk doesn't contain purines which are toxic and cause Gout. However, fermentation is required to reduce carbs in milk down to anywhere between 0.1 to 1 gram of carb per 100 gram of ready product. Aged cheeses are the best sources of protein you can get.
>inb4 0% fat greek yogurt
Greek yogurts are full of carbs. You get about a 10:3 protein to carb ratio, if not worse. In general the more viscous the product is (yogurts, kefirs, ayrans, cottage cheese, skyr, etc.) the more sugar it has per 100 g. Replacing those with hard fermented cheese is ideal.

>Why does alcohol have so many calories
Ethanol is broken down by the liver and the calories are taken into your body from the resulting acetate. Acetate comes from acetaldehyde, which is a poison that your liver works hard to flush out. Drinking is not good for you.

This sort of snack is called "tsumamimono/otsumami" and the idea is to pair alcohol with them, but I just pick them because the portions are small and usually fish/meat/cheese derived ones are half protein or more. I prefer packed stuff because I lose control with bigger bags.
When I am close to finishing the diet cycle I go for surume soumen, they are noodly so you can take your time chewing a full package if you go one by one.

Hello everyone. I am obese. Who else here is obese?
I went from weighing 133kg to weighing 113kg now, over a period of 4-5 months.
Main reason why I was prompted to lose weight was suspected idiopathic intracranial hypertension, which caused permanent blind spots in my vision and pulsatile tinnitus which gave me trouble trying to fall asleep. I was also diagnosed with fatty liver disease. Now the tinnitus is almost gone, I find it much easier to fall asleep. The blind spots, I assume, are permanent. Liver hormones (ALAT) also have responded very well with weight loss, will have another blood test soon. I expect them to be in the normal range now.
My face looks noticeably leaner and more attractive now too, and it's much easier and more pleasant to walk.
My goal is to get to around 80kg and to become a person someone would genuinely describe as lean. My success so far gives me hope that it's possible.

What is your story?

Obese. Lost my job in 2020 and never managed to find another until about a year ago. I sat on my fat ass and drank and ate and never went outside and guess what happened? I was 112 kg on my birthday, started seeing tits appear. It was the straw that broke the camels back. 3 months later and i'm 101 now. Soon to be just "overweight" and honestly for the first time im excited to be called "overweight" because it's not "obese". Goal weight 83kg which is top end of healthy weight for my height / age / whatever. Super happy with my loss, but to be honest I look in the mirror / at the photo progress and i'm not seeing it. But I still have a lot of work to do I suppose.

Thanks for reading my blog.
>>
>>77234517
Thank you for sharing your story. Your goal weight is similar to my goal weight.
You mentioned drinking. Did you stop drinking?
I also drinked a bit but a few months into losing weight I decided to drop it completely because it was bad for my liver (I have fatty liver) and also because it has too many calories.
>>
>>77234528
for all intents and purposes, yes.
I will have a drink on special occasions, or when we have a staff event at work, but i'll limit myself to like 2 light beers or glass of wine then swap back to water. I was drinking quite heavily before. I would have said I thought I didn't have a problem as I wasn't getting drunk, passing out, doing bad shit when drinking but i was very often having like 8 beers on a night just sitting at my PC drinking and watching YT or playing vidya. Now I probably have 3-4 drinks per month. Sometimes none. When you find out how many calories are in things, it was like i was having my BMR in drinks alone before even counting the food. And drinking led to bad food choices too (like Pizza lol)
>>
>>77234484
>I went from weighing 133kg to weighing 113kg now, over a period of 4-5 months.

It's very possible. I used to be 100 kg and at one point after that I went down to 65 kg. I'm 76 kg now but I hope I can get within my "normal" BMI range in a few weeks (around 74-75 kg). My only big challenge recently was alcohol. I've stayed sober for 5 weeks straight for the first time in 9 years and I'll be trying to start bodybuilding once I get lean.

yeah, lowering calories is the one big thing that works, but if you want to heal your liver AND get rid of the visceral fat (a big portion of which is stored in liver) you also have to lower carbs. Always read the contents and make sure you keep carbs to the minimum. Lots of "traditionally preserved" products like bacon have starch or dextrose in them. Read the nutrition label before buying stuff.

yeah for sure, i just wanted to whine because i'm having to shift from the "just don't eat like a complete idiot" mode that was enough to get results at my starting point to a more strict "really on a diet" mode
having to actually count the calories strictly every day and be responsible with food choices with low room for error because being like 200 calories over means i blew it is getting me down

>Bacon isn't low calorie.
I never said it is. The point was that bacon has either starch, dextrose, corn flour or maltodextrin in it. It's used to give it texture and coloring. But that's not what makes bacon shit food necessarily. It's that it's much more calorie dense and it contains way more dietary fat than other preserved alternatives, e.g. ham. Ham is the leanest of all preserved meats with anywhere between 80 to 150 kcal per 100 grams of of ham. Still, ham often also includes dextrose or starch for preservation.
>>
>>77234944
I guess you can do exercises if you heavily use steroids and lie about your diet, like shawn baker or liver king did.

But if one actually follow a long term keto diet and doesn't take trenbolone, he'll be incapable of enduring a mild walk.

Running uses primarily glycogen as fuel source (high heart rate), walking uses fat. Walking is better for your joints, and is a form of active recovery. Depending on your stats, yeah, you might pick up rooning. But to lose fat keep walking still. Have carbs and around 6h between resistance training and rooning.

It's a new month, which allows me to see today's date as a threshold - the 27th "fresh start" in a 4-year yo-yo diet where I gain and lose the same 6 kg over and over again.

Will be trying a strategy of alternating high carbohydrate and high fat intake, hoping my body will never realize it's deficient in any one macro...

Also toying with the idea of doing one weekly binge. The idea is that, at present, binges inevitably happen every 3-4 days, so knowing I'll allow myself a binge on a given weekday will actually lower my caloric intake by making it psychologically easier not to succumb to cravings at random.
>1350-1500 calories is intolerable if it's forever.

Some people are on a crusade against 'low carb' nutrition. Maybe they even are political influencers?
My body doesn't tolerate carbs that well and I feel so much better when I eat salad/broccoli/olive oil/protein. I still use lemon juice as seasoning and some other stuff but it's mainly ~50g or way less most of the time.
Problem is that it's easy to get addicted to eating like a slob, and time and time again I feel like eating a full subway sandwich and potato chips. But it's not a big deal if it happens once or twice a month or so.

You're simply wrong. It's literally impossible for a human to become obese from protein, no matter what the calorie measurement of said protein is.

I am sure you will never acknowledge reality. CICO was never based on reality in the first place so no matter how many studies contradict it the flat calorie theorists still believe.

Reading the one obese anons post about losing weight and hoping to get blood work done to check on his liver enzymes, it reminded me of my own liver problems and I wanted to share to see if anyone here has a clue.
When I was going through a medical scare and losing a ton of weight, I got a CT scan of my abdomen and tons of blood work done. One of the findings was that I had an enlarged liver at over 16" (normal is smaller than 12".) I was morbidly obese at the time and had a diet that would give a trucker pause and never exercised. Despite this, my liver enzymes were and still are rock bottom like almost dead non functional liver levels. We're talking ALT of like 15 and AST of 8 (the numbers might be reversed for each thing it's been awhile I forget.) I'm below normal range for both.

How is it possible that I have such a bad diet, morbidly obese, no exercise, very poor cardiovascular health, insulin resistance, enlarged liver, and yet my liver enzymes are so low that it's almost non functional and yet doctors didn't say shit? Someone make sense of that for me.

~84.5kg, down from 94kg from September 2025, and was probably +100kg before that, BF% probably around ~20% (idk, those online measurements give me erroneous readings).

Finished a one month mini-bulk (more like maintenance really, only went up +1kg, I find that cuts are easier when it's a relief that you no longer need to force-feed yourself. Beat some PRs, very fun) and starting cut today. The aim is to try and get under 80kg at least once.

How important is fat intake really? I had set a daily target of 70g with 50g minimum, and didn't get over 40g a lot of the time, ended up with an average of slightly under 50g. I should probably try to increase fat intake by a little bit.

In the last cut (Jan-Mar) I found that I got very fatigued. I think it might have been made worse by the 30min cardio sessions I'd do after lifting, does it make sense to separate cardio and lifting days? Like when I get home after the cardio I feel like doing nothing except doomscrolling in bed, can't be healthy.

Anyway good luck to you other faggots. Autistically collecting data on this stuff is very fun as well as useful, everyone should do it.

Extreme behavior is the true fatmind hallmark. You're doomed to fail. The journey is about consistency, not panic. I guess you have a long way to go until you'll take it seriously. Until then you're just waisting time & wrecking your body and mind. But hey, have fun doing it!
>>

Been doing rolling fasts myself (~48-72 hours, not super strict about it), partly inspired by you, and I've lost 10 lb in the last 3 weeks or so. Finally below 200 lb for the first time since before Covid.
I've fasted before but I'm surprised at how well it's been working

Is there anyone lurking in here that actually lost all the weight and kept it off? I've regained 20lbs and I'm so ashamed

you know how to lose it so just do it again
20lbs is nothing
>>
>>77236143
no, I always get stressed and life happens and I gain it back somehow
this time is real though, I feel it (my mentality and drive are way different)
>>
>>77236147
>>77236149
But I relax. It isn't stress, stress makes me stop eating. I relax and feel its okvto have more "treats", and it becomes a daily habit again, 20lbs in a year is huge too but I settled back into my fatty ways. I can't do this shit over and over, I need to break it this time not just be a long term bulimic.
>>
>>77236049
I'm 5 11 and feels like I'd have to get into the low 60s kg to get rid of this shit
>>
>>77236155
This. My rib fat and face fat stay unless I'm at 12% but FUCK that's hard to maintain.
>>
>>77236143
I lost weight and kept it off for 10+ years. I used to struggle when I thought CICO was legit (it isn't). See: >>77234841

The key was doing the opposite of what CICO says. Eat "calorie dense" fat and protein in unlimited quantities. Avoid carbs.

Pic related is my first meal of the year. 80/20 beef patties with aged cheddar and sauerkraut. 70/30 beef is better but I like the convenience of frozen patties and this is the best I can find right now.

The only way to have long term success is a diet that doesn't leave you hungry and doesn't require restriction.

Skip cico. Do a low-carb diet.

Lololol as if keto or PSMF (the real goat for crash diets) actually work long term for 99.9% of people

Pump those muscles up, boyo! Show the girls at the gym how to hip thrust like a bvll! Add more hamglute volume to your leg days. One easy trick that makes Jerusalem burn is finishing with leg press, really high weight & putting your feet to the topside of the plate. Ab work daily, some times with higher weight, some times more reps. Don't forget dead hangs with leg raises. Even when you have some fat you'll have more defined muscles.

When you want to lose eat lean meat, vegetables, fruits, eggs, and low fat dairy
When you want to maintain add in some good carbs like rice
When you want to gain mix in nuts and higher fat meat/dairy
At no point eat bread, cake, pasta or anything like this

He has a tiny malnourished body that can't do anything. It's withering away, utterly useless. There's no function, no physcial activity he can accomplish. He eats ~1700kcal a day. There's a reason he doesn't show what's under the shirt. Like fetus-Voldemort in the Dumbledore-Harry scene.

Gotta eat carbs. As the study proved they're needed for lean mass. How else could I do 9 hours of cardio and 20h+ of gym per week? I might not be fat anymore, but I do have around twice your muscle mass. You're just a smol fetus-twink withering away. Totally restricted in every possible way by your expensive diet. No energy to do anything, staying home out of sight. I just wish you'd stay out of mind too. Stop preying on people of /fat/.

Ive been in great shape before. I am no longer in great shape. Got depressed, stopped lifting, stopped doing anything really. I am very tempted to get on Ozempic because i have successfully lost weight before, hell, one time i did OMAD and went from 100kg - 80kg in one month. I know i can do it if i have the will to, but it is genuinely torture feeling hungry all the time i am not built for it and end up downing diet coke to suppress appetite and sweet cravings and then my appetite always gets the better of me even if im in full /fit/ mode. I havent really had any motivation to get fit again since covid idk its just like something in me snapped and i just gave up.
>>
>>77236256
You're so fat that you're scared to post body and you get physically outperformed by a 59 year old man who eats zero carbs.
>>
>>77236264
>it is genuinely torture feeling hungry all the time
Yes. This is why the best diet is unlimited calorie low-carb. Works better and doesn't require hunger.
>>
>>77236271
idk mane keto has always just felt like a fad to me. Like a modern day atkins diet. Fat is 8kcals / gram, carbs are 4kcals / gram so i dont really see how keto is efficient for losing weight other than the subjective satiation benefits.

Potatoes are ranked the most satiating food and theyre basically all carbs

>>77236268
I've posted my body many times, unlike you. There's a reason you nees to post OTHER men, not yourself, and as you know it's already been said you shill for cheaters. Influencers who aren't on keto. The problem isn't with keto, it works. The problem is with the lies you spread endlessly. You're like a woman.

Unlimited calorie low-carb outperforms restricted calorie with carbs. Pic related.

That phony "satiety index" is sponsored by Kelloggs. There's not really any such thing as a satiety index. It's a very bad study done by students using bad methodology.

In the real world what matters is what results people get following different diet strategies. Low-fat has the worst results ever observed. Low-carb has the best results ever observed.

>>
>>77236264
been in the same exact place with depression starting with covid and only starting to try to turn it around since towards the end of last year. why not start with just reintroducing exercise if diet is the harder part?
>>
>>77236264
Your problem is that you dieted too quickly last time. You became obese because of bad habits, and you need to learn how to fix those habits or it will keep coming back. Most people who go off ozempic put the weight back on too, for the same reason.

One important lesson: don't try tricks to suppress appetite. If you're losing weight, you're going to feel hungry. That's just a fact.
You're okay with temporary discomfort in the gym, and recognise it as being part of the process for building strength. So why can't you apply the same understanding to hunger during weight loss?
>>
>>77236872
Actually scratch that, I saw the pictures:
>>77236296
>>77236302

You just barely dieted in the first place. But the point stands, you need to build sustainable habits - not go on occasional crash diets.
