>Who is /fat/ for?
For Beach Bloatlords who are working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

How do I tell the difference between cardio failure and muscle failure? these pushups having me huffing and puffing like a pig but when I do weights I’m not nearly as out of breathe. I shouldn’t be getting winded doing 20 pushups though, and I’m not sure if its a more subtle volumetric burn or my heart just sucks.

>>
>>77242853
>20 pushups
this is a lot. you need to switch to the harder variant at 15 reps max.
you know about the variant where you let your chest hit the ground and you lift your hands off the ground?
this is the next push up progression.
muscle failure is the inability of doing another rep. usually the muscle burn so much and you cannot do another rep at all.
shitty heart means your just winded. i *think* this is you.

NTA but is there a name for this so I could search this up?

i assume getting winded means my heart sucks cause thats a cardio issue. I’m trying to do decline pushups to increase the intensity. those are a little harder

You can feel which zones are thinning out, it feels fluffy like cotton candy or cotton vs. yoga mat or soft rubber (dense fat). After the fluffy phase the next is loose skin.

You actually can't really tell because subcutaneous fat looks like it could be loose skin. You won't know until you lean up more. Take collagen peptides, glyzine and l-lysine.

protein isolate for days when I can’t hit protein for the day. Usually I’ll eat canned tuna but I take the powder if I’m super far behind or if I just want a tasty milkshake-like thing. Cause its zero sugar and blends with milk into a frothy thick drink that tastes pretty good.

220 lbs

Funny enough i took a fat shit and the weight came down. That's it bros. I hit my long term weight loss goal. Full 60 lbs off since january 7th of this year. Thought i had another 10 days at least. I originally planned to be dieting another month easy. I will extend my diet for another 5-10 lbs, try and get rid of some more of this belly fat before summer proper. I still dont look great, I need to get more muscle mass and I still have too much fat, and i have loose skin around my stomach but im finally at a fairly normal bodyfat%. Im starting to get a bicep vein when pumped and my dick is about and inch and a half longer. I feel human. I'm finally at a point where I can get actually fit.
>>

If keto and carnivore are so greta, why do you need to make fake bread? Fake bread is the carni/keto equivalent of a vegan making fake meat.

It's how I know that diet isn't natural. You make fake bread because you want bread. Just like vegans make fake meat because they want meat.

Also, the avocado sauce does have carbs.

Mate even a huge bowl of ice cream is like 500 calories. You could easily work that into a day like once a week.
>>
>>77243228
Yes you can do keto while working out. Performance is the same after 4 weeks of adaptation.

There's not much to learn. Zero carb foods are aged cheese, meat, and eggs. You can eat unlimited amounts of them. Low-sodium bacon frequently has no sugar added. Choose higher fat for deliciousness and satiety. For example choose regular ground beef or medium at the leanest. Lean is disgusting and not satiating.

There's all sorts of recipes you can make that are low/no carb. Check out Chris Cooking Nashville on YouTube for example.

Immense suffering at eating 1k to 1500 cals a day, dipping down to ~500 cals on weekends. Only ever took my birthday off from my diet. I managed to not have any major relapses but I do not recommend going that hard into it, that was really hard to maintain and if I was going to redo it I would have eased up and just extended my timeline. Gym 3-4 days a week, 1+ hour every session lifting and a physical labor job. I focused on eating mostly protein~150-200 grams a day to maximize satiation and minimize muscle loss along with the activity.
>>
>>77243344
>immense suffering
Figured, I’m a desk warrior and hit the gym but only twice a week, so I’m burning even less calories compared to you. I generally aim for 1500ish a day as well but I’d feel like death dropping to 500 and doing cardio too. I guess I’ll just stick to my pace so I don’t become miserable

I was at 245 lbs Sunday. I've lost 85 pounds since Lent started in February this year. I've been fasting, drinking only water, and only eating on Sundays.

I've noticed that after I eat for the day, I gain 10 lbs, then by the next Sunday, I have lost 15 lbs. So I'm averaging about ~5 pound loss a week. Is this normal?

I always break my fast with:
Three activa yogurts; strawberry, cherry, and vanilla
Three ice cream sandwiches
A 12 oz glass of milk
A 12 oz glass of orange juice
A 12 oz glass of apple juice
An orange

Here's what I ate in addition yesterday:
A plain cake donut
A 9in homemade 6 egg with 1/2 cup cubed muenster cheese quiche
A half of 9in peach pie homemade with chocolate, agave nectar, honey, evaporated milk, heavy whipping cream, and half package of vanilla pudding
A slice of homemade pecan pie
A sandwich with two slices of fried thick bologna, 4 slices of thin cut fried pepperoni, 4 slices of thin cut fried genoa salami, some peeled yellow onion, a 4th of a red pepper, and a 7 inch leaf of romaine lettuce on 6 inch rebaked french bread spread with mayonaisse
2 oz of smart food white cheddar popcorn
6 sensible portions garden veggie chips sour cream and onion potato crisps
4 12oz sugar free diet sodas: cherry, orange, dr, and grapefruit flavored
A big bowl of malt o meal fruity dyno bites with marshmallows cereal
4 muenster cheese and onion enchiladas

I ate this over the course of 18 hours; from 6 am to midnight.

I read that if you're an obese fat fuck and go on prolonged fasting (24hrs+) you could be at risk for gallbladder attacks and gallstones. And that any form of rapid weight loss can trigger and exacerbate this. Because of the liver producing increased cholesterol in the blood from the breakdown of fats, which cause gallstones to form faster. Also when you don't eat, the gallbladder shuts down and the bile crystalizes and solidifies. Really scared to do 24hr+ fasts now.

I had a very minor stomach pain on my left side that lasted for a few hours, after eating a fatty cheeseburger and fries after a 29hr water fast. I don't think it's gallstones, because that should come from the right side. But it's still pretty spooky.

I've lost 70lbs over the last two years, I've fluctuated up and down. What gives me so much hope is that even though I've consistently failed to be 'green' on my calories (under 2100avg daily per month), I've lost the weight. I'm down so much and can see and feel so many differences.
This image is one of consistent fuckups. It's a picture showing how retarded I often am, how easily I fall prey to my own gluttony, and yet, despite it taking a while, things are slowly getting better.
Now I just need to imagine: What if I actually locked in for just a short amount of time? What if I actually hit that green? I'd shed. I'm so so close, too. I'm going to make it. You're going to make it.

Even though the pace feels slow to you right now if your at a level of restriction that you feel you can maintain in the long term just keep at it. Your still gonna lose the weight, just a bit slower and probably feel a lot better than I did while doing it.

A lot of people go into a diet just to burn out in a month because they try to commit to something they dont have the fortitude to stay on. what i did was probably a bit beyond what could be considered "healthy" weight loss. I've been dealing with incredibly low energy levels for months now. I set a pace at the very limit of what I could handle and it sucked ass.

Just try and make a habit of hitting the gym more and even just like an extra 15-30 minutes of soft cardio like a brisk walk 3-4 times a week. The extra exercise helps a lot with energy levels when your in a calorie restriction IMO.

Eat fat and protein. Also, straight keto is not efficient, and after sometime you leptin levels will fall off which signals the brain to conserve energy, slowing down fat loss. Better to spike the leptin levels once a week with a carbohydrate refeed. It end up being faster weight loss, and a much healthier endocrine system.

I don't mind cutting carbs, but it's very difficult. But if I go to a doc he will just prescribe me insulin. Which I do not want to take. Insulin will just increase my insulin resistance and make me fat. Something has to be done about the high blood sugar though. So either I go low-carb/keto or start intermittent fasting to increase my insulin sensitivity. I find it much easier to IF than creating low-carb meal plans. If I don't eat all day, my blood sugar can drop to 110.

Sometimes this can be done, sometimes it can't be done, before insulin could be produced the only treatment for diabetes, both types, was trying a ketogenic diet, where type 1 patients slowly died and around +80% type 2 patients also slowly died.

So it's true one can reverse full blown diabetes, but the vast majority will not archive this no matter the diet.

>Cut down instead of cutting out
This doesn't work. Eating smaller amounts of fattening food just lowers metabolism and causes weight regain.

If you change the type of food you eat by eliminating sugar and grains then estimating calories isn't a problem. Dr Now on My 600-lb life tells people low-carb, high-protein, 1200 calories a day. That will work if people stick to it.

A lot of calorie believers do low-fat diets which is the worst possible diet with the lowest chances of success.

She doesn’t want to have sex because she doesn’t feel sexy because she knows she’s gross and fat. It’s less to do with her attraction to you and more about self esteem. Arguably women’s biggest turn on is “feeling” desirable, it’s the same reason they wear lingerie for special dates.

If you really just want to have sex call her pretty/sexy often, smack her ass a lot, that kind of thing. It might work but it won’t work as well as if she was to lose weight.

The oddest thing is that I actually prefer the test of AF beer these days, particularly if it's good stuff. Sometimes a cold alcohol free lager in the sun is fine too for the experience rather than taste.

I tried to lie to myself that I would just have wine and spirits, but I realised I was turning into a functional alcoholic - would drink a bottle of wine between lunch and the end of the working day, or cane half a bottle of whisky with soda/ginger ale in the evening.

Whatever fractional impact the use of AF beer has, it is orders of magnitude better than drinking frequently.

I'd like to add something to this anon's post. I feel like for me personally the real damage gets done in the shop when I'll be doing my weekly or bi weekly shop, before I've even eaten anything at home. Avoiding picking up something sweet or unhealthy, because once it's in the house there is definitely going to be a point where I'll give in and eat something that's like 600 calories or more. Once that's been eaten I'm still going to have to eat other stuff just to feel full which is where the damage comes in. Avoiding that stuff in the shop really helps once you're in the comfort of your own home.

i eat anything and everything. from real food to candies.
>>77245027
i'll try this. but i can't think of any. i just get an intense hunger that doesn't go away when i eat some so i eat some more. 30 minutes later and the hunger is still there so i gulp down more food and so on and so forth until i feel full then it's already an oopsie.

Tirzepatide.

guess you could benefit from some appetite regulator then
or eat more satiating foods, assuming that it's not only a result of your hunger hormones

I was never a genuine fatso, only let my bf% occasionally get too high before the cut due to dirty bulking, but after I turned like 25+ I noticed every time I eat however I feel like I eventually end up gaining weight way too fast and I need to consciously limit my appetite. Counting calories works well, especially when you want to lean bulk. I don't think you ever "graduate" past that level, you always have to keep some sort of structure, otherwise eating slop gets too tempting and your habits get subjected to the slippery slope efect.

My training is much more optimized doing upper/lower split vs push pull legs

I have been counting calories using cronometer. I have consistently tracked my calories to be about 1600-1800 kcal every day for a long time now, many months, probably a year. I slowly went from 83 kg to 76 kg, but now it has stalled and I have been stuck at around 76 kg for a long time.

At 76 kg with 184 cm of height, 140 g of protein daily and lifting 2-4 times a week, 1500-1800 should be plenty of a deficit for continued fat loss? I am starting to think that only calorie counting actually doesn't work, and disciplined clean eating is necessary.

eliminate carbs for a while and see how it goes.
keep counting calories in addition to the carb elimination.
>>
>>77245349
Protein has a thermic effect, depending on the source you're getting only 70-85% of the calories digested. That might fuck up calculations if your protein sources and amounts vary. Also depending where you live can affect your BMR. You really notice it when living near the arctic. Lots of variables.

Mate, you are really beyond bro science from an image board full of weirdos. Go see an actual physician, follow a treatment plan.

You should and can still lose weight while on insulin. With weight loss, you can come of the meds and you'll have an incentive and constant reminder to do so. But for the meantime, stop taking damage to your organs that can't be reversed. See a doctor!

the way I dropped carbs and took on more meat/dairy was gradually. I replaced or dropped one thing per week. change your snacks from sweets to nuts. do it slowly, just like you put on the weight. about a year in I noticed my stomach shrank and I couldn't eat a whole steak anymore, I didn't have the room anymore. crash dieting just creates wreckage

Meal prep and completely pre-portion your meals in separate containers, chew your food slowly, chug a cup of water before and in the middle of your meals. Have absolutely nothing for snacks in your house other than things like pickles, raw vegetables etc. Frankly you’re going to need to wrestle up the willpower to stop eating after you’ve had your meal but these tricks can make it easier.

When I was in my mid 20s I lost 15kg in a 3 or so months by just not eating too much. Now I'm 36 and I ain't fucking losing anything despite eating way less.

It's fucking over for me.

>1500-1800 should be plenty of a deficit for continued fat loss
Not really. You’re not a huge guy, solidly in healthy weight BMI and that’s not very active (always use sedentary settings anyway). It gets much harder to lose fat the leaner you get but cardio can help at that point.

1800 is quite close to your TDEE. It could easily be within the margin of error of your calorie counting unless you’re being very diligent with a food scale, zero cheating etc. How “slow” was it losing 13 kg?

Insulin injections cause an increase in hunger, one can still lose weight taking these.

Would you rather have that anon not take medicine for diabetes?

Type 2 diabetes is hyperinsulinemia. Insulin injections aren't medicine for type 2 diabetics, they are poison. Eventually causing very profitable kidney failure and dialysis. You sound like a good goy who got injected with mRNA injections for the coof.

I'm getting fit at 46 after being 300-350lbs for decades. Skin tightens fairly decently if you leverage autophagy (OMAD). I'd also recommend weekly carb refeeds if you're doing keto. And taking collagen peptides, l-lysine, and glycine. Unironically, you're going to want fiber too. Psyllium husk, Etc. In your thirties it will be surgery level good unless you have just genetically rolled a bad roll in that department.

Dear Fat guys and girls.

none of you should have to go through this journey alone. Alone, its so so hard. But what you need above all else. Is someone who loves you, someone who cares for you and keeps you accountable.

Definitely suggest finding another fat girl or fat guy and helping eachother. Then even if you fail. Its not the end of the world. we'll continue tomorrow. lets push eachother to be better instead of expecting yourself to struggle alone

>Love, anon <3

currently on OMAD, but not every day or I start feeling too weak. When I get hungry in the evening I just remind myself that hunger equals fat burning
>>77245550
your BMR hardly changed, you are just doing something wrong. Maybe you used to be more physically active?
