>Who is /fat/ for?
For Desert destroyers who are working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

Coming from 330 lb. About 211 now. Goal is 10 to 12% body fat. Roughly about 190lb give or take. I probably won't hit that until November though. At least I'll be 15% body fat for the tail end of summer. Would love to get rid of the rest of the subcutaneous fat just to see how much loose skin I'm dealing with. Just turned 47 years old.

I just weighed out my box of chicken wings, and im getting gypped. They say on the package that it's 350g but i weighed it (before cooking too) and it was 325g. It makes me wonder how many people check the weight of their food. But another thing concerned me, if the calories were including bone weight? You don't usually eat the bones of course, but I thought calories excluded bone weight but now im not so sure
>>
>>77272886
1kg of fat = 7700kcal
there are 32 days until summer
to lose 6kg you'd need a total caloric deficit of 46,200kcal with 32 days that's a daily deficit of 1400kcal

I mean its technically possible if you fast and do a ton of cardio but not a realistic target, a realistic target would be a 500kcal deficit x 32 days = ~2kg
>>
Hello. I'm a fat fucking retard.
I was 295 in November and I'm 262 now just from eating better. I'm going to start walking a lot starting Friday.
I like calisthenics, I have no weights or gym access, so I'm looking for calisthenics resources so I can do some strength training, or just general advice and anecdotes.
>>
>>77272915
To be on the safe side you should include the bone weight for the same reason you should weigh meat prior to cooking. Nutritional facts have a margin of error that's quite wide so you need to stack the odds in your favor where you can.

Roon is more glycogen based. Sadly. But if you do it in the morning your body prioritizes fat as fuel for the rest of the day, but your NEAT might take a hit (big fat bong hit).

>>77272915
Are you sure your scale isn't showing up random numbers? When was it calibrated? If it's accurate enough you can try it out with a quarter.
It should include bones.

>>77272926
Exactly, even when weighing everything to the gram its not a precise as some think. Its a simple way to mitigate these issues.

By American standards, you'll be high normie status by virtue of being lean as a man. Better bone structure and height helps but the getting fit is still a positive just due to how out of shape most people are.

I thought I was very ugly at my fattest because my facial structure was trash but it turns out that my facial fat distribution is just very bad. I will never become overweight again.

The problem is people go to extremes when they need balance. Like you want to keep fat around 55g to maybe 85g a day if you're in a deficit. But that's the last place you should be getting your calories unless you're doing keto and can't get them from carbs and already hit your protein. But if you're getting less than the minimum needed fat per day your endocrine system is going to get fucked which is going to crash your testosterone and also slow down your weight loss. Literally people just need to keep track of what they're eating. It can be tedious, which is why I made a Python program through grok that just keeps track of whatever meals I usually have if you're all my recipes and stuff like that. Ingredients it'll just remember. It makes it a lot easier.
>>
>>77272985
>I never understood the low fat craze to be honest
It started from research being taken into headlines of the news and then people just going off of "soundbyte from news wow!"
Basically research saw correlation with fat intake and heart disease. Before they could go further, the media ran with "HOW MUCH FAT YOU EAT CAUSES HEART ATTACK" and everyone started going low-fat. Companies sell what people want, so everything is low fat, but hey we amped up the sugar to make up for flavor. After more research, it was found that it wasn't fat, but specifically transfats, and to a lesser but significant degree, saturated fats; and that unsaturated fats actually improve health outcomes. But the damage was done, because "fat causes heart attack" had soaked into the cultural zeitgeist. transfats were banned, we saw a nice population-wide health improvement, but low fat did it's damage by then.

It's mostly genetics based but there's plenty of things you can do like taking l-lysine, collagen peptides, and glycine. Skin is just very slow compared to Fat Loss so it doesn't really keep up. Can take several years but eventually it will get to a point where it doesn't tighten anymore.

Definitely a tough one. Only because it's hard enough to hit protein macros while keeping fat above 55g to support testosterone without alcohol kcal. Tho it's doable if you're willing to otherwise keep carbs on the lower end. I salute you if you're progressing. But I definitely say it to be mindful of protein. I mean you're going to do what you're going to do, but without being careful on protein you're just going to end up skinny fat.

It's hopeless without stupid fat loss medicine. Once your brain is wired wrong there's no undoing that. You can't run on sheer willpower alone forever. You have to change the very composition of your desires for everlasting improvement. If not you'll just burn out and revert to your old ways, at best flip flopping between grinding down the weight and bursting it back on over and over again until you die, hopefully catching yourself earlier than later on the uptick. If I could graph my weight over the last 10 years it would have more peaks and valleys than a wooden rollercoaster. I'm so sick of it. >>77273504
>Ever searching for magic pills instead of doing the work?
What a crock of shit. There are literally hundreds of millions of people walking around this planet (if not billions) who never need to "do the work" to maintain a healthy body. They just exist and go about their lives not having to will themselves to eat smaller meals and count calories. They don't have to walk 10,000 steps a day they don't even exercise at all. Despite this lack of "doing the work" there they are with their perfectly healthy BMI. There are clearly people with normal bodies and people with broken ones. There shouldn't be any "doing the work" if everyone's body worked the exact same.

I used to think this. Then I realized I derived dopamine from hitting macros perfectly. And in doing that, I ended up getting the nutrition my body was craving, so eventually the food noise just stopped. It's very possible.

hi femanon

>Once your brain is wired wrong there's no undoing that.
No.
Abstaining for long enough and sticking to a strict schedule will reset your brain/body etc.
You just have to do it honestly, seriously and religiously long enough and it will click. You have to be honest though and have self control.
>>
>>77273569
Timeframe?
>>
>>77273571
For me personally it was 2 weeks. I have 0 food noise/cravings. When you feel "hungry", you drink water. Rationally you can know that you objectively are not hungry/do not need nutrients when you catalogue and mark everything down.
That helps reset the feedback loop. You may also chew gum if you need your mouth doing something.
Different for everyone I'm sure.
>>
>>77273569
>Abstaining for long enough and sticking to a strict schedule will reset your brain/body etc.
This. So long as you are getting the nutrition your body is craving, the food noise ends. People have to understand this. The reason you guys are yo yoing is because you're not giving a shit about macros or nutrients.
>>
>>77273577
That and they don't stick with it long enough/give up too soon. Making nutrition a box you need to check off at the beginning helps. Put your energy and time into other things you need to do/pay attention to.
Eating is neutral.

ROFL. Leave it to you fatties to completely miss the boat on the greatest anti-obesity drugs ever created and talk about doing it "natty." Whatever the fuck that means. Like you're making a stand against blasting a gram of dbol or something, unbelievable.
If you've been trying to lose weight for more than a couple of months and keep having the sort of pathetic binges and 'cheat days' lamented in this thread constantly, you're a terminal mcfatfuck with literally nothing to lose. You could pin dirty retatrutide made in a Hunan bathtub by pozzed hemophiliacs and still be objectively healthier than someone who's been clinically obese for more than a year.
If you can afford to stuff your fat fucking face in this economy then you can afford a bulk order of GLP's that'll last months, if not years, if you even need them for that long. No excuses.

I can keep the hunger at bay with unlimited black coffee at work, my only problem is I'm getting increasingly tired all the time, eyebags are starting to look I got punched in the face
I'm taking a couple days off work to catch up on sleep, thinking about getting a tendie sub from Publix and splitting it over those two days for a brief refeed, based or cringe?

I'm overwhelmed by work and life in general, but I want to get fit. I want to take accountability for my bullshit :( Drs told me I need to put on muscle or I'll just plain die from a heart attack... but I don't even know how to start I own a 20lb kettlebell and a yoga ball.
Planet schizo offered me a free month, and it's the only gym besides a CrossFit one in my town.

Anyways, I know how to CiCo so that's something. It's the exercise part that overwhelms me. I only have 4 days at week in which I can squeeze in line 2 hours of training.

there's a lot that you can do with a single kettlebell, you can do squats of various types, you can curl it, you can press it over your head, you can do pullovers and skull crushers, you can do rows. Depending on what you are strong at it might be too heavy or too light for certain exercises, but it's something. I'd also get a couple of dumbbells to do stuff like lateral raises and flys. Just look up exercises for your equipment and try to hit as many muscle groups as you can, it should be a good starting point. 2 hours 4 times a week will be plenty for both cardio and resistance training, especially as a beginner you don't need massive amounts of training to see progress you just need consistency, even just 1 hour a week can make a difference in the long run

go to the gym and start with the machines if you can afford it

Do you guys ever get tired of counting and tracking calories? It's all so tiresome, I'm so sick of having to measure, track and worry about every single calorie, and the worst of it is the constant worry that I won't have enough calories to eat at the end of the day, which usually results in me waking up absolutely starving in the morning.

adjustable dumbbells max out at 100lbs per dumbbell. that's just short of the 2 plates bench press criterion

Hating on people not willing to put in the work to solve their problems (aka dishonest bitches) is normal. Perhaps whine more, it will surely make you thinner.

back in ~2018 i used to weight 265 lbs (120kg) then in 2019 i decided to diet and i lost about 90 lbs (40kg), then i decided to start lifting regularly (although i didn't follow strict programs) and now i'm back to 200 lbs (90 - 95 kg) but it seems to be mostly fat since i look like shit and my maxes are only:

I lost a lot of weight (was 100 lbs lighter than I am now), dropped many pant sizes and had to get new clothes, then I gained it all back and all those clothes are useless. Held onto them for years hoping I'd slim down for them again but it's been about 6 years since then.
It's good that I know HOW to lose weight and that I CAN lose weight, but my problem for years was constantly thinking I'll do it eventually, so don't let hubris get to you. I'm starting to notice health problems and it's why I have to finally commit to it again.
