if you drag or attempt to drag torso lying with your back flat to floor (lumbar flexion) with bent knees it will be glute max and gastrocnemius, but only because lumbar is flexed, which glute will be used is entirely dependent on spinal and hip alignment, like doing ohp or benchpress arch is not glute max, it's medius because of lumbar extension despite hip extension
that's also why there is not a single one glute max exercise in entire fitness edifice, the only place where u'll find obscene glute max is with sprinters, not runners - sprinters, cause sprint is with flexed lumbar spine

but u walk beutifully it will be glute max cause lubar extension is diminished, abs are engaged etc

ROM is a meme because moving the weight a bigger distance doesn't mean the target muscle gets more ROM. Like in a leg press if you try to move the weight back more you have to shift your things to make space and your pelvis has to tilt to make space for the femur and yeah you're using the glutes. For more quad stimulus you want to internally rotate a bit and stop ROM right before your pelvis starts to rotate

pelvis is tilting because u're stretching the glute max, tugging on it passively and u try to go beyond it's capability to elongate
