Latest winslop 11 update literally broke my computer. Chrome tabs lag, a 1080p video almost froze my computer.

Is this the end for personal computing?

Linux has a fuckton of free available alternatives for the same services, and if you are really desperate for that specific program you can just use a virtual machine and run Windows devices on it. Though I would try the former first

I've invest too much time on CSP and don't really wanna learn a new art software.
I don't like GIMP or Inkscape also. I'm learning Illustrator but I was considering Affinity but that shit doesn't work on linux too.

Almost a decade ago I decided I was tired of pirating photoshop and wanted to try finding something free, so I found out krita and started learning it. I was a windows fag and wouldn't consider ever using linux, I just wanted something less annoying to install. In hindsight that was one of the best decisions of my life. I'm so used to it now that when I look at photoshop I get completely lost.
>>
>>107878796
I was going to recommend Krita to him but I didn't know photoshop well enough to say for certain it could do all the same things. I've unironically never used photoshop for anything

I really don't understand the problems some of you have with Windows. I mean, personally, I can use it without any problems. I read e-books, play games, listen to music, take notes, save my files without any problems, and I've never had any difficulty with any drives or peripherals. So tell me, what exactly is the problem with Windows?

honestly yeah valid. I have no problems with windows 11, took me 5 minutes to install, another 5 to debloat and fix any of the bugs and shit just werked from there on out.

I've used linux before multiple times, arch, mint, cachyos. used to daily drive it for a year and it's fun to use, but i always end up on windows cause eventually some shit just pisses me so much that I just swap back because it works natively on windows, i.e. no matter what I did my vr headset just wouldn't fucking connect to my linux setup, tried all the third party fixes and just got tired cause I dropped $500 and it wouldn't work. back on windows in 10 minutes and boom it's worked flawlessly ever since.

Use whatever you wanna use, don't let retards online tell you what to do

Without changing how people write code, how difficult is it to implement some kind of memory-safety feature (even if not accurate) in a C compiler, so it can show some kind of warning at least?

If it can't be done so easily at compile-time, then what about some kind of static-analysis tool that can inspect binaries for potential violations?

>>107879356
C++ uses RAII in the same way as Rust does. std::shared_ptr is just std::rc::Rc

RAII is more of a solution for memory/resource leaks than memory safety. You generally do not want to inc/dec reference counted pointer every time you pass it to some function, that's even slower than proper garbage collection. And if you pass regular pointers/references to reference counted resources you risk having dangling pointers if you use them wrongly.

Phosphors used.

CRT TVs use long persistent phosphors since they are used with tubes that have to display 50Hz / 60Hz refresh rates and interlaced content.
So you don't notice the flicker.

CRT VGA monitors on the other hand usually use phosphors with much shorter persistence. You want things to be clear on a desktop, less ghosting, progressive resolutions and usually higher refresh rates.
>>
The 42 inch LG C series tv goes on sale many times every year for like 700€, sometimes even cheaper. Got my C4 for 650€ a year ago. If they only lasted for a few thousand hours in desktop use as some suggest it would be a bad deal but if it lasts for many years then who cares? My old IPS that i use as a second monitor is yellow now. Time degrades everything eventually
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbEgQrigiLc
Why the fuck are you faggots lying?
>>
They're never going to fix the degradation issue with OLED, and they're never actually going to come out with a technology to surpass it, at least in public circulation. Because if they did that, and people could have monitors with no major trade-offs that could last decades like they used to, then eventually nobody would need to buy any anymore. Manufacturers realized this with how people would buy very expensive CRTs but they would be able to keep them for decades, same with HDTVs until the 4K meme took off. Nope, just like how everything else has become a subscription service with a consistent revenue stream, the manufacturers want the built-in planned obsolescence so that users have to keep going back to them every once in a while

>b-b-but my oled doesn't have burn in!
Yes it does, your TV is just burning in the rest of the pixels so you don't notice, like sanding down the surface of a table to get rid of scratches. But a table can be refinished, your OLED cannot. I don't give a fuck if you've had it for a whopping 3 years, we had screens that could last far longer than that.

If you don't know, some women have a genetic mutation where they have 4 functional color cones in their eyes, allowing them to see a new dimension of colors compared to normal humans.

nta but didn't the japs use to call the color green a shade of blue? Also the "color" orange used to be a shade of red before it got its own name after the fruit.
>>
>>107877177
"new dimension of colors"
it's just a red/green cone... it just means they have slightly better color fidelity...
>>
>>107879054
What you call a color doesn't change what it looks like so I don't see the relevance. Western women can name you 10 different shades of purple meawhile it's all just 'purple' to you, but that doesn't stop you perceiving that they are indeed different colors.

Think of it in terms of the program state graph.
If your program has to do such a deep state traversal only once then the states in that path are superfluous.
I get it, it's sometimes the easiest way to solve a problem vut this is the exact reason programs become do complicated that not even god can decipher them

>>
>>107879185
> Want s program to get from A>B

>The path Z>G>H is never used anywhere else
It's not hard to follow the logic.
You are almost always doing something wrong if you violate the main clean code principles.
It's the dunning kruger bell curve meme. On the low end you just accept clean code, in midwit lands you question it because you never understood why and on the upper end you accept them because you know why.
And yes I know it's very difficult to follow these rules and not opt for an ez hack fix.
But you feel shame while doing it and avoid it as much as possible. If we normalize it then it becomes overdone
