Jesus fucking christ, You used to be able to Google and find a detailed guide to troubleshoot something tech related now you would only get an answer from the AI and the rest of the results are just reddit threads but all replies are like subjective or " i dunno lol".

Let me tell you something that very few people think about.
Forums are basically dead and discussions are now taking place on fucking Discord, which can't be indexed and referenced by search engines, and is of course, impermanent.
There were forums for all kinds of niche interests and hobbies with incredible insight and useful information.
Reddit is a bastardisation of forum culture, but taken over by normies.
Forums were like the library of Alexandria, and we've burned it down again.

True for late 90's and early 00's. Mid-late 00's was okay already though.

The intellimouse was good I had one, the Logitech MX518 was probably the first truly good gaming mouse imho.
The Creative speaker sets that were popular at the time were bad though.

I was lucky to have a great CRT at the time, which I still keep (Mitsubishi 2070SB), but the LCD monitors were truly awful for games, I'd say it took until this decade to get really good LCDs and affordable OLEDs.
The only advantage was not having to worry abut the refresh rate, especially in the late 00s when they were ports from the 360 and assumed you're using an LCD monitor.
Too many games had no option to set the refresh rate from the menu and would default to 60Hz, and sometimes even forcing it thought the GPU drivers didn't always work correctly.
>>
>>107691496
Don't know if the original MX518 could do 1000Hz but the Intellimouse around that time could.

That's a downside many people don't talk about when talking about CRTs these days. If you couldn't or didn't have 1:1 refresh with the CRT, you'd have double images, nullifying any motion advantage (plus higher end CRTs used pretty fast phosphors so even at 60Hz if the game didn't let you switch higher, the flicker was awful for hours of gaming).

>but a 30C hotspot delta sounds atrocious
conventional wisdom agrees, but a delta of 25-30 between average and hotspot temps is typical for this gen of AMD cards regardless of model. The biggest thing to worry about is probably memory temps, and whether or not your specific card has the much cooler memory made by Samsung. Sk Hynix is significantly hotter, like 8c hotter.

I think even though the live install is loaded into RAM it will still "lock" your USB. So here is my suggestion:

Download the is to your phone. Then connect it to the live install booted from your USB. Flash the image with DD to your harddrive. Then boot from your harddrive and repeat the steps to flash the ISO back on your USB. Now follow the official install steps.
>>
>>107691441
no I actually meant to make the hard drive the installer and use it to make the usb stick the installer again, but oh well
>>
>>107691441
>Windows fucked it when burning the iso
download or use rufus.exe usb creator, it's a GUI that you just need to point to the .iso of a linux image. gnome disks when using linux to create a live usb.

do you know a way to change the grub menu order upon bootup? I have two drives with linux installs and I've changed
grub_default=
and
grub_defaultsaved=
on both drives but the first option it always default to is my secondary OS install. really just want it to auto-boot up into the correct OS each time without manually going through grub entries

New version is out.

Also, why was my previous thread deleted? This is a software-based application explicitly engineered for operation within the computational and telecommunications framework of a handheld mobile device, ok? It is therefore unambiguously situated within the broader domain of contemporary technological systems, infrastructures, and applied digital sciences, and as such relevant to /g/.

IoT ltsc of 10 or 11 is fine. I just run shutup10 and get startallback for the start menu. Drivers from SDIO. It's what I did for a thinkpad t470 I got off of ebay. Works fine for daily use, though not gaming.

I'm getting a lot of conflicting information when searching about this: what exactly does the 'optimize drives/disks' function do for SSDs in Windows?
There are people who've said that modern SSDs perform TRIM on their own without Windows having to tell it to, so it doesn't matter if the optimize feature is disabled. But there are also mentions that turning off the automatic optimization disables TRIM entirely.
Which one of these is true?

I was against eSIM when I heard it was being forced on people with new phones, but after using it I'm convinced physical SIM should die
>free and instant network activation
>if your phone is stolen, you can't get physically SIM swapped
>makes more phones dual SIM
>GrapheneOS will wipe it if you enter your duress password
The only benefit I can see for regular SIM is it's easier to swap between phones, which is something hardly anyone does regularly
